  1. Most of the time its not the cars but the customers as you say, as some still think the wheels fall off cars at the 100,000 mile club
  2. hybrids need care much care as the cables can kill if someone goes in not knowing procedures,i wouldnt go near one without at the very least a course on how to make sure i knew what i was doing see here http://awarding.theimi.org.uk/Qualifications/L2-Award-in-Hybrid-Electric-Vehicle-Operation-and-Maintenance
  3. i would suggest if you dont want to give the secrets youve built up to make your business a success then dont,i used to freely give information away that i had accrued over years of trading now i think before i speak and see if theres a dollar in the outcome for me,thats how i now retail and i carry it here im always happy to help anyone but i never let them pick my brains clean we all have to start somewhere i certainly never got a grounding in a dealership as its not somewhere i wanted to work
  4. hi Phil you wont win on this one in my opinion i would negotiate a package with customer to return the car so your mechanic can fix it and buy him a return train ticket or arrange to have car collected and repaired in a reasonable time frame if you dont then he can reject and you will be first offered arbitration consider putting on your invoice all repairs are in house and its a term of sale all repairs need to be brought to place of sale if problems develop if its any help ive been threatened with a lba today from a customer who now thinks terms we agreed were too much in my favour to reject on a technicality i will go to court on this one purely on principle
  5. you would need to register car in your name and then when log book comes sorn it or sellthe thing again and get the tax money off new customer tell them you taxed it on new keeper slip as you needed a reliable car for a long journey and this was the vehicle you used or set fire to it and ..............................
  6. ive used matt black paint for years when needed but autosmart stuff is good
  7. buy a sh**ter on facepalm for less than a decent tv and in my opinion you deserve to get everything you do ,a steering downshaft was £175 for those ka's last time i had one fail on play, thats before i even kicked the tyres to increase their tread patterns
  8. has log book been sent off in new keepers name?
  9. with regards tailgate its probably a sticky microswitchdue to lack of use with regards cd i too would suggwest check for copy cd sticking or better dont check in case you damage the unit ,difficult one
  10. HI THE TURBO ACTUATOR LEVER CAN STICK THIS WOULD CAUSE YOUR PROBLEM IT WOULD NEED A MANCHESTER SREWDRIVER TO BEST CURE LOOK ON SAY THE FIAT FORUM FOR A WORK THROUGH oops caps
  11. better than last year but punters still wanting moons on sticks
  12. anbody who buys a car off this bloke with words like that deserves everything they get
  13. hi pad keep it as you are, this way you keep your pay cheque and more importantly you can walk away from sales at any time because its not your bread and butter,a win win situation i think
  14. Im with santander, just be aware the most in cash you can bank at your post office is now only a £1000 at a time and any cheques taken still need to be posted to liverpool,i refused a cheque today and asked them to bring in cash tomorrow for this very reason, its still better than going into the nearest town to pay in cash though
  15. Hi Philip i wish you a very successful business ,remember no questions are too daft to ask,its nice to have a forum of like minded people but on all different levels here
  16. is £120,000 enough to start up from scratch and fill a large pitch and service everything?or would 10 cars and an easyish in out without needing to go limited be a better solution, only you can decide but £120,000 wont go that far if you start with a bit of land with planning and not even a caravan and even that brings all the agencies in including the local plod who might insist you have a full cctv so as they dont need to attend but can come and view your discs at their leisure as they do just my thoughts
  17. this year a lot worse than the previous 2 customers more picky than ever depended on a loyal customer base but cant afford to do that in 2016 so need to reapraise where im going to go AT been a complete waste of time with ebay doing me more good but is hard work because of all the nutters who contact you expecting discounts unseen what one thing did i learn? to be harder than ive ever been hard before but to still be fair
  18. i think ive been on another of your threads elesewhere but i often go up to your area to nick stock ,somes really good some from say seaham is bad due to corrosion issues the point is you need to assess what you can sell in your town,do not sell what you like ,every time i do this i get bogged down, sell what sells locally even if its crappy micras ok micras arent crappy but the dashboards bring on sleep induced coma
  19. do not sell on auction, trust me ive tried this this past few weeks and all ive got is proper grief. i would suggest sell to trade only and proof of motor trade insurance policy needed and invoice shows this or dont do it,its really not worth the hassle
  20. chevrolet yes see it as the new lada, pitch right and they sell, only problem is dont use ebay to sell it as its not recognised learnt that the hard way
  21. posting the key would get you a clone and its not recommended with this car have you spoken to your ford dealer or see who the local trade use to come to them and have a proper key made with a proper warranty and a quality key cheap keys always cause problems,,last one cost me a big headache and i lost about £145 keys off the internet ready to be cut and cloned are usually made of rubbish metal that splits when being cut, this could split today tomorrow or next month as you are miles from home and ignition jams
  22. some thoughts trade insurance can be a bit hard in this sector these type of cars always bring the people who are perfectionists because a lot of them are into detailing you say you can mechanic? then theres your market, specialise in repairing others faults if you can and you have a niche market anyone can buy cars and hope to sell them, you have a skill so keep to it and maybe sell what you run as an add on or specialise in something you can sell and repair if it does break me? i prefer to keep it simple so anycomebacks are nearly always cost repairable without breaking your banking terms best of luck, one final thought its always best to offer what peiople want rather than what you want so if you lived say in a village of oaps then i would specialise in say i10's
