  1. we've come to the conclusion here that the top suits at autotrader dont even drive so how would they know what customers (thats us as we pay their wages) want, frankly ive despaired at this malaise longer than i care to remember
  2. ive signed into the portal skipped in the yard and even had a coffee but i cant find this review button? screen shot or something possible pretty please ?
  3. im a bit confused here as i didn't know hyundai actually made any cars in this country? can anyone enlighten me
  4. This car still not showing as taxed on dvla website, there's no point in me ringing them again or contacting customer because i know i will get some blame somehow
  5. I agree wholeheartedly, ive always talked up top gear to anyone who knocked it complaining it was boys hour, but last sundays episode left me cold,i will tune in on sunday this week but if it doesn't improve it looks like i too will let the wife have use of the tv at that time for her bridesdead rubbish
  6. Up to about 15 years ago you could always pull the rear seat squab up back at base and find lots of lovely lolly (money) those days have long gone because if the transporter driver isnt pulling these up in the lay bye as he shovels his panini in his gob then (apparently its the new sausage sandwich) its the drivers at the auction doing it My pet hate in cars? toenails and or used nappies in an old carrier bag YUK
  7. for them to take it home and tax it at their leisure of course its a bit small for other uses
  8. On my invoice i now have a section for the green slip unique (ha ha) document reference number and i carefully print this number for the customer. why? Well i've always found that until the car is collected and paid in full then its not a sale and you might not get this green slip back Im sure we've all heard all the usual reasons for not proceeding with a sale, but sometimes i've taken the deposit never to hear from these people again
  9. I have never and will never do the in trade postage bit on behalf of customers for this very reason Its the same when selling cars,i explain to customers that they must make a note in their diaries that they receive the log book in 6 weeks or phone me or dvla and i stress to them never post off the new keeper slip, you tell em but most dont listen and log books do get lost in the post .
  10. well after phoning this morning and trying to be fobbed off as not the owner data protection bla bla bla i finally got them to listen to sense they still blame the post office even though i told them the post office only saw the new keeper slip they have assured me the car is now taxed and backdated to the date in december and we are to send the cheque in,ive given customer that job and told him to send it recorded delivery and to see if his car reappears as taxed on the dvla website in the days to come we shall see i was told to keep my cheque so will cash it in if and when everything seems sorted,a nice bottle of malt sounds good forgot to add i too have decided from now on not to tax cars for customers unless absolutely necessary, as jamslug says too
  11. please read this carefully i registered a car in my name in november log book came december car sorned via post sorn confirmation came sold car to customer in december new keeper supplement used to tax it got a tax refund yesterday checked online car showing as not taxed rang dvla this morning they say i taxed it at local PO in my name not so rang customer up to advice him not to use car till sorted he got a tax refund yesterday too he still has new keeper slip correctly filled in and stamped by PO he has also received the v5c in his name dvla say we made a mistake and customer has to ring them monday, they wouldnt even give me an address to complain to BE WARNED will update if they will talk to me again monday on behalf of customer as car now not registered to me hes obviously livid too
  12. hi in work and just confirmed ,be very careful with tradewise as the add ons you will need make them not worth persuing when i tried them eg........ sdp
  13. receipt received,if i sent a receipt out like this one though i would probably get an investigation from the tax man
  14. hi,im with https://www.buckinghaminsurance.co.uk one of the good things is that their portal to put cars on the mid is really good
  15. Good programme enjoyed it especially the funny quotes like where do you put the coins in the drive as you pay bit One of them hasn't got the time to come on here if hes doing a 12 hour day with work and travelling ,he's mad of course, but then hes young and we all thought we could change the world in our under 30's
  16. Thanks for the heads up,i too am waiting for a receipt, you would think we could type our plates in and under model put trade plates on the dvla site until confirmation comes through wouldnt you? Just to remind anyone who may not be aware as ive met a few traders who havent, make sure you log your plates on to the MID
  17. I run my place from an industrial estate so although its private property owned by my landlord the public have access to the large car park as there's also a cafe so its classed as public access, I had a car clamped by dvla outsource before christmas as it was parked "in their words" on public access land and obviously being an in trade car was neither taxed or sorned, I argued that it was in a designated area agreed with my landlord for car sales as its next to the main road but on land where public drive to access the cafe (hope you are all still with me) anyway by proving my lease to the clamping team i had my car unclamped and assured it wouldn't be clamped in future, Just a heads up to any full time motor trader as we are the only group of people allowed to park on public access car parking if we have our territory marked out on a lease or map or deeds and not need the car to be taxed/sorned so there are some gains for us
  18. If you think about it and the choices we now have its pretty straight forward Car in trade cant be taxed realisatically so you run it on trade plates so as to trade within the law Car you run as a daily user is in your name and an agreed value with insurer which can be more than the standard trade payout only (i use this specifically for my car transporter) Trade plates are on the mid so cover you in anything you are driving but in my case it doesnt cover left hand drive super cars or kit cars to get a better rate I found out many years ago i cant drive the wives car on a motor trade policy as its insured in her name so cant go on my trade policy too as then it would be insured twice so im a named driver on her personel policy, The only time this could change was is if i wasnr a named driver on her policy but wanted take it off her to do trade work like repair or say taking it for an mot Cars in trade and smoked around was always a grey area and used and abused by many, so although it was a nice perk to take something home with lots of petrol or a bit different i must now be getting to an age where it honestly doesn't bother me that its not feasable any more comments observations most welcome sb
  19. Hi long time lurker thought i would give some input here MY motor trade insurance specifies that any car i use must be registered to me so taxing a car on a standing order but not sending the log book off would mean i would be uninsured, this was in my updated terms this year (2014) for the first time
  20. Been really quiet in november and december but its always been like that, you should bag some sales in january but certainly customers are more picky these days than ever before,my secret is to get your cars mint, mint and keep them mint, mint, this way the folded arms syndrome of the wife of a potential buyer cant find a fault so the car gets bought rather than a new settee, or the husband cant fault it to his wife also, oh and ignore derogatory remarks no matter how hard they are remember you want the sale even though you wouldnt want the customer as a friend, the good days have gone where there was another bum for every seat goodas luckas, sb
  21. Be careful stepping into trade road risk only as many wont even insure your own vehicle so you can end up with 2 policies and very poor cover, read the small print on everything before committing,be extra careful of signing up over the phone as these companies are the worse. As said you need trade insurance or a simple accident could cause you big, gone are the days of ducking and diving your way through with even something as simple as daily insurance, sorry
  22. Never been stopped for trade plate contravention but have to say this thread has me worried, ive tried plates on number plates plates off plates in the blank space and plates in the windows in my time but finally arrived at front plate in the windscreen and rear plate always dangled with the rubber holder off the rear wiper,im now concerned this isnt acceptable so im going to start screwing plates on plates again against my better wishes,my plates by the way should be in a museum as i have an original set of ali ones that look like they did a stint in vietnam
  23. hi,long time lurker thought i would join as one of my new year resolutions, To address your query my trade insurance went up 50% in may last year,i went through various large and small organisations to get a better quote but came to the conclusion they run a cartel, ive never made a claim ,been in the motor trade 30 years and have a clean licence, everyone ive spoken to in the trade since my increase also confirm premiums have increased without exception to beyond what was considered reasonable,i put it down to the fact some large insurers withdrew from this market like aviva this last year?
