  1. took about 3 weeks when i applied about 25 years ago,i remember because henry kissinger sent me a best of luck with your process card i still find henry easy to deal with
  2. the washing line might come in handy though
  3. i would keep to your original thought but just get the engine serviced straight away, dont scrimp on a paper hanky oil filter and don't scream the rocks out of the engine, see it as your livelihood and treat it like you would hopefully treat a gorgeous woman, that engine will easily rack up over 120,000 miles with no attention to turbos/ chains or wiggly/ waggly things if you take heed old vw fuffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
  4. hi,if you consider the fuel goes to the engine returns goes through the tank then the lines lines then pump then returns again then 15 miles showing as left in tank really is nothing i think your engine went into limp to save the lifters in the pump by default so they dont run dry and seize, remember also running on fumes would pick up any water thats got in the tank over the years put some diesel in see if it needs bleeding at the filter as suggested and cross your fingers the days of running stuff like this on fumes is gone if you dont want a coronary chin up
  5. hi,i only use 0 /40 so its ptotected at both ends
  6. so for the sake of clarity the car is "in trade"? you are taxing in the name of the former owner? or? you are taxing on the new keeper slip? im assuming trade insurer happy about this im assuming you arent worried if it got clamped and hauled to a dvla pound because your cover note wont cover it im assuming this is what roadside traders are doing who arent paying anything like im paying in fixed bills and basically screwing the system i would prefer the mods to remove all this if its correct because i would rather it wasnt on an open forum if its this easy
  7. good engines but need oil changing on schedule
  8. replying to txts (see what i dids then bro) is asking for trouble as you sup your third double wild turkey in yate's ,me ? i leave the phone at home because you just know someones going to ruin your night out anyway thanks for sharing
  9. If customer is driving car off your pitch and you logged it on the MID with your insurer then if they have an accident and they werent insured then 3rd parties could be looking to your insurer for compo, this is why i immediately remove any car sold off the MID straight away if ive logged them on,i know a trader who got caught with this dont know the outcome mind

  11. ive got some cheap flight tickets available,i cant go so would be willing to take a dipper on them too
  12. pdi before offered for sale idealy also a fresh mot these two things will help very much if you ever end up in court protecting your reputation/wallet no matter how much love and attention my babies get they always get the oil and water checked prior to customer collection for my own piece of mind as cars like babies can dribble inbetween,if customers wants to take straight away then pretend you are showing them where they are like you would go through the procedure to key hand out anyway, ive just failed today to find the dipstick on a renault i got in today ,i only found it by following the route it took from the sump, 1400 petrol, cars hate em at times
  13. hi steve a few questions what does your insurer say about unacompanied test drives how can they be done without trade plates ie not taxed how can you be sure your vehicle is not being abused if unacompanied your paperwork needs to be imaculate if you do do this and the nips appear why do it anyway surely going with a customer is poart of the patter to nail a sale are you aware the car plates need covering up on a test drive whilst trade plates are fitted to the front and rear of the vehicle cheers
  14. i once bought those glass pens where you write price reductions in the window and it rained, all the cars looked a right mess saturday afternoon
  15. well sorry but i see it as a tenner a week and two weeks off for good behaviour i love taxing my cars at £30 a year or £3 and an apple via direct debit per month
  16. as said pdi full new mot fix any gremlins before the header board goes in or point them out to customer during sale back up by getting customer to countersign both pdi and sales invoice where everything is in writing including no eml light was on during the sale and after test drive, you must do test drives its all here in the podcasts which really are must have listen to if you want to try and stay out of trouble http://cardealerpodcast.libsyn.com/ thanks again to umesh for providing the original link because you wouldnt find them otherwise and thanks lawgistics
  17. small yard, port a cabin set up ??? why bother ? do you want to sit there all day with your bum on the old calor heater?,non fun that ,i would want to be doing something else if that was the case, sends you mad this job you know, anyway must trot its injection time...................nurse how much is a small yard and 7 spaces? have you got a good roadside position is it cost viable,?ive found that people are more willing to travel with the help of a satnav these days if you have what they want, have you considered specialising in one make/model ? c1's for example ?

  21. hi simon, for once in my life im going to be blunt dont do it keep the boring job a £5000 investment is only going to get you bogged down with scrappers in no time or an expensive big lemon are you thinking of working from home what are you going to do if the first car you buy non of the electric windows dont work like on that car programme last night what would you do like on another thread on here where a body computer has had probably water ingress and failed and its a dealer part plus then having it coded it modern cars you need more than an interest to keep in front of them and not have customers back at your door put the £5000 into an isa mine made me £134 or buy a car you can run and sell at a later date soz
  22. if you put yourself in the seat of the customer and you were sold a lemon and your p/x was a peach you would want it back and probably go to law to enforce it me? i wont touch a p/x car for 2 weeks so i know customer is happy with the car i sold them or as is usual its a scrapper and they definately wont be coming back wanting it did i mention i always hold onto log books 2 weeks too just in case strangely just had a letter from dvla as a new owner has sent off new keeper supplement a week after purchase....oh dear they do cause us problems and in the letter from the dvla they want the chassis rubbing with a pencil, well i aint going to his house to do some etchings
  23. the link is to a private account not a business account ,that would be a big no for me because it suggests no premises to return the vehicle to for any faults after sale ,have you spoken to any of the fellas on the phone? i starter motors clog up with dmf failing fillings so maybe and especially 100,000 is the time for another clutch and flywheel
