  1. i like the polish, they say,'you take this price' theres no negotiation its either take their money or no sale,i often take their money because its obvious they've done their homework and know they are only people interested in the car,sad really i used to do this when i started out a million years ago in barny hubbles car
  2. getting this loads lately and never see them again, and i wont buy gold cars anymore seeing as they always turn out to be landmarks
  3. you can only keep reasonable costs so the best way is to keep the deposit as low as you can and then not refund citing costs such as readvertising etc, this is what ive always done but if customer had indeed lost his job then i would be pretty bendy
  4. I stopped buying the local paper when i realised that i knew quite a few of the people mentioned in the obituaries on a weekly basis and lets be honest here anyone under 50 wont be buying these papers so what percentage of your market are you cutting off in your advertising budget? suppose it depends where you live of course.
  5. i dont mind anyone looking but i do object when they bring their brats who run round with no control ,they all want to go for a test drive in the rain thus filthying the car both inside and out then go off into the sunset in their vectra even though they quite clearly did say if they were happy how my car drove they were purchasing
  6. yes half of what you would normally pay see simples keep up
  7. the old addage always applies is if it smells at pos then dont take their money i only use classifieds im a real believer in this even if short term im cutting my nose theres always a sensible trader somewhere ready to take a risk or just scrap the things is often an easier answer if they really are worth zilch
  8. join now 50% off your first annual subscription woo hooo
  9. as much as i like spam ive just had lovely ham and tomato sandwiches cut into very cute triangles for my lunch no bailers were required i thank you
  10. are you offering to drive to newcastle then taking a week finding your way back to essex?
  11. when he comes back on saturday morning at peak time 11.30 am wait till hes parked his car up and comes strolling in and quickly put the sold header card in the car dont forget to film him too as his pants fall down do we really need these people
  12. Brilliant oh and this paragraph says it all in my opinion I have years of experience at the coal face of the motor trade and don’t need some graduate who has never sold a car in their life patronising me and telling me how to run my business. All I want from you is for you to treat me with the respect I deserve and help me sell more cars. I’m not an overly demanding partner. but then its never going to go back to how it was,i still think of yellow pages and just hope the same happens to them in digital heaven
  13. you say you have (We have identified our market ) so surely you also know how to interact with them? im puzzled because surely to have identified your market you must have a unique selling point or have you identified your market as being in the region of being able to make most mark up not being picky by the way dont forget plenty of balloons so passing cars know you are there too, sounds corny but try it
  14. i once tried with a photoshopped mr blobby in the background waving but it didnt help the sale
  15. I ignore them because otherwise i find i get even more spam from them asking silly questions when all the detail is already in the advert anyway, ive yet to make a sale to an idiot,am i doing something wrong?
  16. car had 47,ooo at pos so even if buyer had done 10,000 i wouldnt want to go legal in such a short time base
  17. try LV been with them second year now,you have to go via a broker but whats offered is good and the price is excellent i went with an unknown a few years ago via a broker and to this day i think i wasn't insured thinking back oh and if going into the unknown watch simple stuff like paying extra for your own car and not having social domestic etc because one insurer does this until you get into the small print sometimes keeping where you are isnt too bad
  18. dead here too proper dead to the point i think my phones faulty so ring it just to check,if its any consolation my local competition are all cutting each others throats in AT but still doing nothing,im waiting out the storm as 2 dealers indies near me have bailed out since xmas, chin up
  19. i agree at the end of the day selling something like this you really need to be making plenty so if it does come back you have the contingency me i would have stashed a grand away but then this is why i dont do big lumps like these
  20. why do they always want the car im driving or someone else's whos just called in too
  21. to summarise double mint it dont drive it redo the advert through fresh eyes take new photos with a good background dont bother ebay auctions it only ends in tears ive found good luck
  22. well i hope you gave him those mats lying around with the pink border on them because we all have some of those
  23. 2 years ago i was of the opinion that everyone was now using satnav so a pitch was not necessary, autotrader was working fine and they all turned up,this last 2 years ive sold more stock from walk ins and referrals because im established and seeable from the road so my attitude has changed again to how it was ie you need some sort of pitch Roadside as said is free advertising so i wouldnt move now, as i did consider it to cut costs If you are off the main road then my favourite piece of saying is, 'advertise or die' and unfortunately advertising is not cheap ,as it unfortunately never was
  24. to answer your question ,you price the vehicle to what the market will pay
