  1. Obviously you don't, because otherwise you wouldn't be taxing cars without registering as the NEW owner. I would be interested to know how your insurer views this every time you put one on the MID especially if someone makes a claim against you and car not in your name but you have taxed it With regards your question you need to get on your bike like lamont says and look for somewhere suitable then knock on doors to try and do a deal with the owner
  2. because some customers like to have the assurance of a named warranty company and also you get the banners and balloons i self warrant but its not always easy
  3. Does he charge by the hour or by pot shot and is he free a week on wednesday? free buns supplied
  4. me too you cant even begin to reduce a car price without customer bothering to view because once you've lowered your price they turn up and think they can screw you more its never worked for me i always tell my customers that the price is fixed but they will be certain to buy if tthey turn up because its the best on offer, any real customer usually does turn up then with messers going into the ether, Once they turn up they see you are telling the truth they often never mention price again but obviously you can enhance their package free with gifts to give them a full and happy experiance and often it turns into repeat business over the years as they know they casn trust you
  5. You cant if its in the first month if its due to a fault, you can only charge if customer has a change of heart and you agree to take back less agreed hire terms etc,i got this direct from trading standards just after xmas when i refunded a car but charged hire fees, customer agreed then came back after trading standards rang him again to confirm he was happy and until then he was ,but then came to see me for this hire money back,i rang trading staNdards got a case number to prove i had done everything right and was not prepared to pay him this money back,i sent him recorded delivery telling him to take me to small claims if not happy where i would defend and be looking for a counter claim and the post office lost it so had to send another recorded delivery and claim compensation from post office,i eventually got back 6 stamps, never heard from him again but he probably hates me
  6. make sure you drive private sale cars, we used to buy on viewing only to find there was no clutch even though it felt fine on their drives if you can run an advert in your local area 'we buy cars for cash, collect today' hpi afore ye go and double check for clones it can be worthwhile when these cars usually turn up to be in peoples way because they thought it was worth more than they were offered previously, always kick them when their down too
  7. to be sure if its still there the bells should be so loud you think you have tinitusk sparky...at least you didnt find the carrier under the seat with a used nappy in it like i once did
  8. Refund and retail again, it makes for a smoother less stressful life in the long run, we don't need these people we really don't
  9. Sorry to hear you are leaving but its in your blood now so maybe you will be back full throttle maybe a couple more years from now All the best from me for your future
  10. sorry im new here, what is autotrader again it sounds so last century?
  11. we all have to start somewhere but going to the big boys auction is not the way look to buy from ebay or that bumtree i started out door knocking on cars abandoned by their owners as uneconomical to repair then i got up at 5 in the morning to read autotrader hot off the presses then i advertised we buy any cars before the internet was invented starting at the bottom you have to invent a way to move forward i think the post is genuine and i hope you succeed dylon
  12. i think you missed a bullet,well done
  13. if i go onautotrader as a potential customer with my cookies cleaned it pops a box up asking for feedback try ticking the boxes they dont like and you get told 'thanks but you dont fit our questions' so its biased
  14. buying a s/h car there is always going to be a touchy feely needed by most buyers as unlike brand new there is always going to be somrthing they want to rub or kick prior to doing the deal so im old school.................im out
  15. £1695 ,hes a money launderer
  16. take them out to do the photos, replace once car returned to its sale spot, customers appreciate you are looking after the interior but need to see the floor in your advert to appreciate how clean it is and quality can you make the canopy more appealing and modern for a reasonable amount of cash can you make the drive by experiance A127? more appealing so customers might want to come and view next week and not expect its turned into a hand car wash as lots round me do when banners are used rather than corrugated plastic or abs signage really trying to help by the way
  17. we all have our niches but you have to know when to bale out
  18. very large dealer near me only got big because they screwed everything and everyone, thing is they sell a marque that people like so they are still there and the owner lives in the biggest house up the hill wish it was me
  19. youve done your best, let the buyer guide you of course a local independent windscreen fitter might fit a good s/h mint screen for you? i have 2 numbers to ring if need be
  20. your site looks more suitable for £2995 and less to be honest.too many cheap banners ,pictures taken with a compound in the background that looks like a scrap yard you are selling image cars rather than cars to get you to work so image is everything or lifestyle if you prefer or hankering after that lifestyle seeing as you want to push the finance get rid of those tacky autosmart mats they are good in worn out shitters at £695 0no only sort the issue with leanders now because it would stop me dead from going further into your website can you not work from a better site? im sure you dont need main road frontage?
  21. if you do a dvla mot check of those cars that have been seized you quite often find no mot for years or worse lots of serviceable item failures me? i stopped buying seized cars years ago after i bought an astra estate and found it had plants growing out of the carpets,ok serves me right for sticking my hand up but it cured me if they get it seized they know its was going to go sooner or later so will rag em and not spend a penny, often they have lots of petrol cans in the boot and maccy dee wrappers under the seats walk on..............
  22. i always think, would i buy it as a punter? no,so i move on to the next car
  23. ebay, classified ad ,stonking advert...........sold.........,be reasonable dont ask £20,000 like they want for an old mk2 eccy 1100 popular
  24. I entirely agree with your post Steve92 apart from the last line, im undercut from all sides by people selling cheaper cheaper cheaper and putting 2 fingers up to how business should be run,i have an eastern european guy over the road from me using multiple accounts on ebay selling cars and not putting a penny into the system in vat national insurance or even employing local people hes brought them in from poland,i voted out and im proud to say it
  25. out because im old enough to have a real reason these people who really think their houses are going to devalue by 20% need to start reading real newspapers for those that dont understand where the eu is going i suggest they dont vote at all hows that
