Very sensible post from David Horgan as ever. As long as people are not complete pricks I don’t mind selling them a car. I remind them of this if they start getting a bit funny if anything ever needs fixing. Nice polite people do well from us and get the best service by far.

Car dealers legally required to complete recalls?
Rory RSC replied to tradegirl's topic in General Dealer Chat
Best way to look at this is if you don't and the customer goes into main dealers for a recall they are getting a health check. You could have the nicest used car on the planet and they will have a list of nice to haves on that health check. I think doing it before the main dealers do is a necessity now. -
Just me depressed gone to shit after being on for a record breaker.

Recovery of a vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act

You want to buy my car from me and receive my assistance and back up? i am happy to provide this you must return the car to me. I think it’s fair. -
Good intro. Dont think you will be working less than the long hours you already do. It’s very tough getting started in this job. Being passionate about cars and enjoying what you do will stand you in good stead. Specialising in a particular market is a great way to do things. You can learn it inside out.

Amazing Valet Product for removing TAR
Rory RSC replied to Blenheim Car Sales's topic in General Dealer Chat
I once sniff tested a 25l drum of something trying to find out if it was wheel acid or tfr. It was wheel acid treble x I think. I got it in my eye as the barrel sloshed around. Never did that again. -
For what its worth I would like to think the new MOT and your PDI that you carried out before sale showed the customer the bonnet was working. I am even more sure when they viewed they opened the bonnet. Most people do. I would say it was quite clearly working at point of sale. Black and white. I would say that they are correct consumer rights gives them the right to reject a significant fault within 30days. It is up to the customer to prove the fault was there within first 30. Well it sounds to me that under the consumer rights act as a dealer you are no responsible for this issue as its just one of those things that can happen particularly with model X you have sold which frequently suffer with these type of problems. However as a fair and proffessional dealer you are more than willing to have the car back, have the bonnet catch fixed quickly at no expense to the customer and will even have the car washed by your local valeters ( £10 mini valet sometimes goes a long way). Worth a go.

Down to the workshop guys Umesh and you would need someone very, very good to get the best out of that bit of kit which is a serious investment.

Same engine still does fortunes at the block on any car it’s in mate. i wouldn’t mention an engine swap ever to a customer.

I tried loads of different approaches to getting reviews. I don’t like the paying people off to do them angle. For us I find mentioning the importance to the team who have all worked really hard to give you the easiest car buying experience and just doing the job right pay off. You can tell personal reviews over generic fake/paid for.
-
Friends and Family - You almost have to charge them more than anyone else let alone do mates rates. Never hear the end of it and they are never grateful. Had a few of these lately who bought from places within the last few months/ weeks ( this always makes me suspicious) and they don't mind losing a few hundred quid. If you make that much of a mistake on the second biggest purchase you are likely to make in life its probably going to cost a little ,more than that.
-
Was just generic examples - I don't mind selling anything if there is money in it. I haven't a clue to be honest.

Did I write that? I did write consistently negative. In fact I can't recall the last time a contribution of yours was anything useful for anyone rather than just negative, bitter and boring. Good luck getting one up on me. Let me know how that goes for you.
-
Good luck, I think specialising is the way forward and finding what works for you is key.Plus its easier to be passionate about cars you enjoy than perhaps 1.8 Cmax'/ Kia Souls/ Lacettis.

Its not a sly dig. I tell it how it is quite openly. Every post is doom and gloom, failures, hmrc, negative BS. Its exceptionally dull and boring when I actually reckon you probably have some fairly useful insight. one -nil?
-
And yet I can think of 2 thriving business straight away on here who are partnerships and consistently growing. Doom and gloom again. I personally don't have time and would not want to do these calls. If there is an issue usually we are quick enough to know about it. No news is good news.
