Its one of those places you need to be in for 7am/8am or else the traffic is awful and then going back no way of avoiding it. Brilliant day out with great weather. I think i've been about 7 or 8 years running now.

Try a different response then, try a few different ways of responding and see if it helps.

To start out as a doorstep trader ?
Rory RSC replied to RIVERSIDE AUTOS's topic in General Dealer Chat
True about low margin. When you are new you have lower overheads and operational costs so can be ultra efficient and fast generating lots of sales doing profits and building a name and a brand. When you are new you can’t charge too price because you don’t have any brand or reputation. After a while the value is for a customer to buy from you due to having a great reputation etc. -
Have some cars doubled in like-for-like price in the last few years?
Rory RSC replied to CRW's topic in General Dealer Chat
I think not knowing anything about how it used to be can be a blessing. -
At Goodwood today Nik travelled down last night. Closed up for the day and took all the lads from work.

Continuing the momentum here with 7 so far.

Phenomenal month here and ended up with 54 cars being sold. Best to date and now we start again with 0 and have to work our asses off to do the same again.
-
We roughly get 40% in under 60 mins travel time and 60% out of that area. Every week we sell cars to people doing 3 hour plus Journeys. Complete dependent upon stock profile and the way you run the business in terms of reviews and online presence.

How to negotiate a vehicle in a car dealership?
Rory RSC replied to joshuagomes's topic in General Dealer Chat
Dominate the dealership and be the Alpha. Talk loudly and interrupt any sales person every time they try to talk. Ask questions and when they answer ask again to catch them out.The slightest hesitation you have rumbled the phoneys. -

Call up and ask if its still for sale. As soon as they say yes quietly whisper ' last price'. When they say a price just say 'have you got any more same car in stock' This shows you are serious. -
Ill chip in to see you on the BMX too

Warrantywise for legal services. A1 I don't I just do it entirely in house, but I don't mind taking the calls and I actively want all cars back to base. If I didn't A1 would be spot on.

Lawgistics -Fantastic company really really good and I rate them highly. General consensus they want to fight a lot. Their warranty aftercare wasn't so good for EPV if you recall the Q5 preggers lady / kids in car post. I think with A1 they are on side, set up like a conventional warranty company and have a more flexible approach. Probably just better set up to deal with the admin side of warranties.

Agree. When you look at things objectively there is more you can be doing. Sometimes the mindset and being critical of yourself is the hardest thing but when you identify what you can do better you start winning again.

Parkers is what I buy usually from WH smith in train stations, its where all the best dealers get their guides from.

A dealer going out of business probably ain't a dealer spending wedge on prep or doing thejob right IMO.
-
6-10 cars maybe doing 2/3 deals on finance can help both you and them. When we first started we did very little finance and found Close extremely helpful in getting us set up and giving us the time of day. Now around 50% of sales were on finance last month so it is possible to grow, we all have to get started somewhere.
-
Common problem changing the stock. I don't see whats wrong with just stocking more of what you know and growing that way. Used to your advantage stock funding can be a great tool.
-
For what is worth any advertising has to be tracked for around 3 months IMO just to get a feel for it. Any less and it’s hard to get a good idea.

How many dealers selling without using Autotrader
Rory RSC replied to Daz_720s's topic in General Dealer Chat
Not in the slightest. The people that drop it aren’t seeing the value in the first place. Me or Nik both find it works for our quite different business models. Neither of us would drop it. a couple of other dealers who feel it’s a big bill and aren’t seeing the leads being provided would not miss the sales as it isn’t providing any.
