  1. The customer is quite local to me, i thought i'd let him enjoy his new car for a couple of weeks and then ask him to chase them up for a refund or else he will put a genuine review on their dodgy facebook page...
  2. True, there is a lot of new inspection companies out there offering inspections for cheap prices, i've had one inspection when the rac bloke said the car had multiple fluid leaks and this was when he inspected the car in pouring rain, i told the customer come and check if the car leaks any fluids on a dry day... The episode above with the audi, i just had it inspected via a friend car dealer who uses the rac approved inspection, it was cheaper than the usual inspection they offer to the general public, but it is a more thorough inspection as they inspect the car on a ramp as well, and to get the pass certificate they will even make you replace the brake pads if they are 50% worn.
  3. I took one these in part ex a while back, i thought there was something wrong with it and traded it on as spares or repair.
  4. I Know autotrader brings in the most solid buyers and most interest, would be interesting to see how many people are selling without using autotrader
  5. It was ticking over nicely a couple of weeks ago for us, been really slow this week
  6. Definitely seeing a drop in sales of diesel cars, especially 4x4 vehicles, maybe it's just quiet or customers are shifting towards petrol/hybrid
  7. Had an interesting experience a few weeks ago, customer arranged an inspection of a vehicle with a 3rd party company, the inspection bloke turned up had a quick walk around the vehicle, opened the bonnet started it up, looked around the engine bay whilst lighting up a cigarette and completed his inspection within 20 minutes, i've had aa and rac inspections in the past and they can take anything up to 2hrs depending on the type of vehicle it is. Anyway once he had finished, He said ''All looks good to me mate'' then i get a call from the customer the next day telling me the inspection guy said not to buy the car and that it had lots of faults and that he had a report showing loads of faults, Obviously this was a bit of a shock, so i told the customer that i was not happy with the inspection results of a company that has only been operating for 4 or 5 months, and agreed to send the Audi A8 to Audi for a inspection + health check, it came back from audi with no faults at all. It just seems there is lots of these so called inspection companies popping up, i doubt they are even qualified engineers, After doing a few checks on this company i discovered he was a car dealer in slough then a vehicle recovery driver and now a vehicle inspection, I definitely won't be allowing this company or any like this one on my forecourt again, firstly smoking whilst a petrol car is started and has the bonnet open is not wise, Oh and i discovered he didn't have motor trade insurance cover to carry out a test drive, as he requested one of the sales guys accompanies him on the test drive.
