They categorically do not send out fake leads. That is utter nonsense. Its widely rumoured but in my findings being an actual paying customer and actually selling cars on there its not true. You get just the same amount of leads from AT who you reply to to never hear again. They are not fake just low quality. CG is good at the moment, in time it will be great. We do very well for the modest price each month with them. Rather than look at the negatives search or a car in your local area on google, CG are pretty prominent, customer then goes on puts postcode in narrows search your stock appears. Sold a car like this yesterday with a 22 year old who used google. He wasn't fake, nor was his money or the profit in the deal.

How do you know which ones are needing done under warranty

Warranties and come back must be mental but they are big fancy main dealer looking sites and that’s what average joe thinks is a good thing.

Is It Easier or Harder to Get Ripped off Now?
Rory RSC replied to XFS's topic in General Dealer Chat
I think its still very easy to get ripped. I always think there are loads of garages out there that are awful yet people will transfer us £10k /£20k /£30k without ever having met us and get a delivery a few days later. -
I don't think anyone reads the adverts mate full stop. I think in part the advert layout box is restrictive and a bit rubbish. The old ebay classified format where you could free type a load of info was probably better now its a case of cram as much in as possible. 'New service carried out for sale with a fresh new MOT alongside full history including 6 stamps' Customers first question - when was it last serviced. Whens the MOT. Every single time despite how many times I have altered the text. Also regarding research 100% they check you out across all the platforms looking for anything suspect or dodgy. Thats where social media becomes a fantastic tool when you realise they are looking at it as a confirmation of your reputation rather than a direct selling tool. It can be the thing that seals the deal seeing the happy handover pics.

Nik I think you do a good job already and the only thing I think you can benefit from is the use of video. I think talking over them is the best way and I don't think they currently needto be anything particularly fancy, it just works with the pictures to show people the car is fine. The best thing I think I can do in a video is whilst showing the car mention the extra services we offer including picking up at station, delivery, low rate finance, great reviews, great after care and draw attention to the car running with no warning lights. Plus you buy lumpy well specced cars with loads of options, videos don't just show them off they really shout about them and you sell more cars as a result.

Good thing with AT reviews is it’s scored on performance and how well you play the autotrader game. Cant influence it. Went to their awards do last year as we were in the top 100 performing delaers in the UK according to autotraders stats. Nothing to do with profit, solvency ,HMRC or anything else TV but it was a good event and it’s nice to know you are extracting the max from your package. I’ve said it a few times and I say it to AT I don’t like the bill but I think the company has some excellent people working for them who can offer great help and support if you let them.

That's very personal and very out of order. Niks a top bloke and someone I have a lot of time for, constantly seeking change and new ways to adapt and evolve his business. A smart switched on trader. BCA (non) ISSUE. Never had an email confirming the car purchases via email for online or in branch purchase. Maybe it was a provisional that got accepted, I would sooner get an email than be ringing chasing up to find out if I got my cars tbh. Of all the shit in the last 24hours thats annoyed me that would not even have registered.

Used to have a traveller fella that would buy all of ours at fair money and never hear from him again and a great local auction. Getting rid of the bangers is a nightmare these days.

Not entirely sure-Nick @ A1 should be able to help.

I also can't get on with Gimbles here really must keep practising but find it a right pain when trying to move around the car or move to the inside shots.

How would any of us ever do anything if we all worry about is highly unlikely scenarios. -
If you didn't sell cars what would you be doing?
Rory RSC replied to ExCouncilJobsworth's topic in General Dealer Chat
Did you mean £2k a day? Only need to sell half a car for that mr @EPV -
Because you took quick clear headed action. If you had not done so I imagine it could have been an entirely different story.

No qualifications, or grades etc, not particularly academic or clever probably a dead end boring office job and hate everyday like quite a lot of people seen to. The thought genuinely terrifies me and I remind myself of that every now and again, probably why I tend to work 7 days and not take much time off. -
Tempted to go to Geneva show have you been and do you reccomend it?

Don't worry soon as he actually sells a car he will lose his like button

Plus cashflow pay for it and gone on the day. Think how much quicker your stock turn can be. Less chance for customer to go and get cold feet. Springs break. They don't happen that often on cars that are being sold. We once put something through an MOT in the morning of collection and the spring broke as the customer drove off site literally just failed and in neither the MOT or previous PDI check had anything been noted. Shit happens a new one got fitted and we probably delivered the car FOC or chucked a bit of fuel in to smooth things over can't recall.
-
Advertise each car with a new mot once arriving in stock so all are ready to drive away. Never once been an issue even when sat for a 60/90 day period. Look at the MOT miles, look at the MOT date. The modern buyer is impatient.

Keen to try a "finance only" strategy for a month. Thoughts?
Rory RSC replied to Nick M.K.'s topic in General Dealer Chat
Seems to work when targeting sub prime with run of the mill stuff. I much prefer a finance sale. We seem to be pretty consistent with finance and usually seem to do about 1/3 of all sales this way but keen to do more. Most of the social media sales result in finance. -
I have sold one car this way. Clickdealer will confirm as it was using clickdealer engage. Most like to speak to us along the way. Just done once this afternoon Scirocco advertised on facebook, within a few hours later after a few enquiries customer does finance props online, send him e sign link he signs it up and pays for delivery and car will be sent down in the next day or two. Spoke to him on the phone just to sound him out make sure he knew what he was buying etc and ensure he sounded of sound mind
