  1. Small claims court / doubt he will attend win a judgement by default then ask the sheriffs from the tv to attend i was amazed they only charge £70 and then a small percentage to collect the debt, i would go all the way just for spite.
  2. I once got asked how long I have been here for, I replied 26 years this year feels like a life sentence with a smile, to which the couple replied 26 years aw never mind we where looking for someone more established.
  3. at least you can understand him, all i have had this weekend is text talk, and i am loathed to get the urban dictionary out to understand a single word they say.
  4. yes both backs last one was an 09 with 18k on the clock and it turned into mush, pig of job to change as well. I just walk past them now in the block which is a shame apart from the axles there a decent selling car.
  5. The more i think about it the more i think i pick the customers these days not the other way around, I just told a right snooty mare and her spoilt rotten brat of a son they might be better of looking for a different car in another garage.
  6. I have had three Fiat Pandas do the same thing this year thats the last one of them i will buy, sigh my avoid list gets bigger by the day
  7. That look they give you when you tell them thats your best price you can do sorry, like your making 80% mark up, i sometimes lose the will to live with the odd few, and say no problem if the deal isnt for you no worries if you come back make sure you see me i will get you a better deal you will know if i am here the Ferrari will be out the front.
  8. Such a distorted figure, I cant image many main dealers making money month on month its all about the retros these days.
  9. I think there is still far to much stigma surrounding these kind of cars to make it work, but i do agree there is a huge gap in the market for someone to deal just in these kind of vehicles and hit it big
  10. Guess it depends on how many cars your shifting, if your not getting through that many i would do them myself, its a good chance to go over every little bit of the car top to toe, did one yesterday and both rear seat belts where gummed up with sweets from kids so that would be an mot fail saves time finding these faults now. each to there own
  11. quality not quantity would be my tip of the day as three cars turn up from the auctions that are giving me the shakes already
  12. Totally agree with above, another angle we get a large amount of first time drivers and even aim our stock at that market so parents and grand parents chip together to get the child there first car and are quite stringent in what they want accident damage service history all the usual due diligence questions and the last one they ask is how much is it, more interestered is the car straight rather than if it's the cheapest they can afford. we also get a lot of repeat custom from these first time buyers as there insurance discounts grow so they move up in cars and come back to us.
  13. Why does everyone assume bangers will come back, i sell loads of sub 2k cars, same rules apply to what ever you sell, buy them with low miles for the year good specs and then a good pdi and away you go, i have far less trouble than a friend who deals in more up in the year stuff.
  14. I had to block a perfectly good car one once due to the lady who lived on the gower coast and walked her little white rats every day on the beach, we even removed the seats to steam them and underneath we still couldnt get rid of damp dog smell.
  15. Not good for me in South Wales will leave it at that
  16. who is there machine with ? you really cant fault worldpay when there machines fails next day and a new one is there.
  17. I think people who own small white dogs shouldnt be allowed to part exchange cars.
  18. Only box's i have ever changed are fiat punto as they whine there brains out, and a mini which did collapse, that said i have lost count how many mini linkages i have cleaned up and changed bushes on where people have had four figure quotes on to replace the box and stole them at auction as everyone else started the whisper the box is shafted. Got to love the old block whispers
  19. Have you checked the linkage arms on top of the box, there plastic and sometimes slip or snap or even come lose
  20. trying to find that function on my iphone is a nightmare Have you looked at gumtree it does depend on what level car your selling, again as all things in life it works for some people but not all
  21. Big Problem i find with Ebay is there default viewing which is set to best option, it used to be set to closest first and we used to do well on Ebay. The way it is set now for example if someone wanted a Fiesta for there son / daughter they type in Fiesta 1.2 and get cars displayed 150-200 miles away, i recall some silly arguments over price where someone is telling me there is a similar car to mine in Scotland for £50 less yes Mr customer but Scotland is a 5 hour drive each way ! Sounds like a little thing but honestly it killed Ebay for me.
  22. totally agree I keep customers at an arms length, facebook is answered until 7pm and thats it, mobile phone is a company one not my own ect, otherwise we be working 24-7
  23. 4 out of 50 for us but we do sell a bucket load of first time motors to young drivers so clutches are a common thing, but thankfully nothing major all dealt with in house.
  24. I have lots of these kind of customers and often find when things go wrong then its time to set yourself apart from other dealers, picked up a KA last monthwith a water bottle fault as they do, changed the bottle and cap for new delivered it back grand parents where over the moon, so much so they have bought another car this week for there other grand daughter.
