cheers guys its all good fun, this is my bread and butter target market people who have £1500-£5000 and want the best value car they can get, its not always about being the cheapest i would rather spend £?? more on my target customer car than aim to be the cheapest all the time, thats a race to the bottom where i think no one wins. I lose count how many people i get in saying i am a few hundred more than the local guy working out of the back of the local car wash, i tell them all the same go see there car check there paperwork owners history and condition and then come see mine, i get say 6-10 back to buy happy with that ratio. anyway enough for this year, heading home now have a safe new years eve what ever your plans Cheers Justin -

I am not joking though, two bought last week Peugeot 207 1.4 petrol 2009 model 56k 2 owners 6 stamps in the book nothing nasty on previous mot advisories eml light on but was running fine, hand in the air like you just dont care bosh its mine, on the way home misfire started chugging spluttering all sorts of chaos finally got home and now 0 compression on cylinder one. Ford Fiesta 1.2 zetec 2008 last of the old shape, but panther black and fully loaded 61k 1 owner from new again lets wave at the greedy folk behind the rostrum yippy on the way home stopped for fuel and then wouldnt start again, had to get towed back and now it has a transponder fault neither of the keys will work start the remote open the locks nothing turn the key and the immoboiliser is flashing like santa on a stag do in blackpool, Happy new year i am off to drown my sorrows in cake and chocolate at times like this i wish i drunk. -

The cars “who is going to drive you home” nothing I seem to buy lately gets me home -
good luck to you fella you have bigger balls than me, as the classic saying goes "this time next year rodney"

I always stick to the same price point, always confuses me when i see garages with that kind of price point difference i am sure a customer who has 20-25k in there pocket expect to see similar stock for sale if gives them confidence to purchase. Each to there own and all that but if you have 19 large burning a hole in your pocket i would be looking at going to town on the stuff you sell day in day out not a huge punt on a lumpy merc however sexy it may look.

Since chip and pin credit card theft is far more safe, back in the day we used to have to take all sorts of ID but those days car radios where hot property back then.

only once every got caught in this situation i just held back £250 until i had the log book, guy was an ass anyway so i didnt mind messing him around a little bit oddly enough the log book turned up in 7 days I am sure it would have taken 7 weeks if i hadnt held money back. -
You have to watch some breakers they bend you over like a russian gymnast, we had a mini in yesterday with a heating issue, turned out to be the bleed nipple a plastic screw which for some reason had cracked and under pressure was leaking water, our local breakers would only sell the whole pipework for £35, local mini dealer had the nipple on the shelf £2.95 But wouldnt deliver.....i know well you have to try dont you

I think the wording there is far to vague to be of major concern ie define "best endeavours" is that a phone call an email two letters a house brick through the window.

three this week for me as well, and two problems come backs been bloody manic whats wrong with people its xmas

Fiestas pop out for fun, I now grab a handful from the local scrappies when i am there on a rummage for a part i know they wont have, always amazes me how many cars you see on a fourcourt or in pictures with them missing, to the general public they always assume the car has been towed so a massive no no for us to have them on show like that.
-
The two i have bought have been nightmares, a 59 plate with a rotten real axle and a 60 plate with a serious oil leak (ok the oil leak can happen to anything) but a rear axle going on them according to my local scrap yard is quite common, i refuse to buy a car with wind down windows in this day and age its bonkers so both of mine where spec'd well. Not a car i would go for again as my local trade center wales does them for £15 a week deals just not enough meat on the bone for me.

wowsers some deap pockets there.

You have all ready answered your own questions, dont need us to tell you what to do. I used to buy a lot of minis of ebay with faults that people took to the main stealers and where bent over backwards for easy, fixes and stole loads of them, people are wise to it these days and long gone the abs sensor fault £54 fix when the stealers advised its a pump for over £1200.

wowsers thats some lovely stock you have there

any finished piccys, £2500 sounds a very fair price

I think as self employed small business owners we will do what we always do and adapt to what ever carnage is thrown at us, I am semi involved with a building company and they also have there versions of headaches so i dont think the motor trade are alone, its tough out there and dont see that changing anytime soon.

And you think London isnt saturated !! if i was to relocate i would be looking at someone small and quiet where you can build a local customer base, needle in a haystack comes to mind.
-
Dont think it will be TCW just yet maybe in 5 years when they have finished there roll out store plan.
-
Never had a mini without either, I did start under sealing them before they go for mot then the bloody tester puts that down "car has been heavily undersealed" you cant bloody win
-
or sunbed salons there all the rage with ex car dealers and drug dealers these days
-
Whilst a lovely idea, however our country has no means or even close to being able to monitor anything let alone the second hand car business, if anything our society is being held together by a shoe string, and a lot worse than joe public will ever know.

Your thoughts on Cat N cars (previously cat D write off)
justina3 replied to AVI_8's topic in General Dealer Chat
I know a lad (dont we all) who buys and sells loads of cat d and to be fair he really does supply a good car, no website just word of mouth loads of lumpy sporty stuff with top profit, but each to there own when you have a web page and it screams written of its very hard to get any calls on them.
