  1. I think its different this year to every other year i have seen, normally the prices go crazy and you get outbid heavily, this year there is totally zero even worth putting your hand up for and people are still paying eye watering money, i am starting to notice some of this junk pop up which just looks silly 05 Ford fiesta with 110k no history more dings than you can count for £2495 seen the guy pay a shade over a 1K for it needed a clutch @ paint, window trims x3 must owe him over £1600 now thats going to sit there for ever and a day.
  2. Does your T&C scream this condition out mine highlight it and i spell it out.
  3. I will try and apply that thinking to my staff at the end of the month somehow i cant see them digging it lol
  4. I have never had this little stock apart from maybe the first month of trading, and i see no signs of it changing.
  5. Its more than likely a lot of those faults are historical, and you may be dealing with just one live one now to be fair the aa diagnostics machines are very good so maybe pulling up faults from the past.
  6. I see your point but in real life it doesnt work that way well at least it doesnt down our neck of the woods.
  7. Agreed we can all find a paint shop than can do a job worthy of brand new motor the trick is finding one that can do the job to the level the general public wouldnt notice at a price we can still retain a profit.
  8. See a lot of high miles One series floating around some lovely specs on them as well for decent money any suggestions / thoughts ?
  9. I had an elderly lady buy her son a car last week, electronically I agreed a £500 deposit the son wanted some upgrades done so was going to take a few days to get the car ready, anyway before i started the work checked my faithful banking app and she had sent me £5k the car was only £3000 plus £600 for mods bless her i wonder if she would have ever noticed if i hadnt have pointed it out.
  10. All of our main dealers are being offered good money and good rates to send to auction so our direct supply went south a few years back, coupled with the time saving of not having to deal with the traders i can see there thinking.
  11. Poor end to the last week in Jan but thats mostly down to us being unable to replace the stock we sold
  12. another 3 hours standing there to come away with a big fat zero....the joys wait there are no joys
  13. that place is a total mystery to me, its only 20mins away from me and often have some semi decent stock in there, but they hate traders 80% of the kit gets bought on line i was told not to waste there time (there words not mine) about opening an account, i do not know a single person who buys from there and for my sins i know a lot of people. The cafe is very good though in all fairness.
  14. "continuously dripping wet " so he has either a leak or has wet vac'd the seats and there still wet, i would myself tell him to bring it back leave it with you for a few days so you can dry it out and check for leaks, run a hose pipe over the obvious and you have done all you can do, i bet a mars bar he has washed the seats and there still wet. if he does turn into an ass then at least you have shown goodwill, a few days without his car i would go 50/50 he wont even bother bringing it back. one point i would ask is how do you know he has insured the car in the trade ?
  15. And i do can understand what there talking about had a 5 series on loan last week and the cup holders where very shallow and didnt take a large costa cup very well tut tut audi ones work just fine
  16. i would say 80% of folk on here think so
  17. I have been with gumtree for three years wasnt on ebay not sure how that changes things, a few local dealers have been offered the same as you where. cheers justin
  18. Used to be amazing back in the day when they where linked to the local evening post and was the only people we needed to use, however once manhiem group took over them it all went pete tong fast so we bailed and not heard anything good about them since.
  19. Clay bar or if the panel isn’t textured then I would go for wet and dry 2500/3000 grit i think I am going to buy my painter a nice set of tyre covers fed up of him painting my tyres
  20. An amazing month for us, didnt move as many numbers but pulled for more margin out of what we did so very happy with that, struggling for stock but i rather have nothing around me than pay through the nose and have to give them away next month.
  21. £300 a month plus vat gives me both a Gumtree and Ebay motors pro account this included a 20% discount for an 18month commitment not sure what the standard package is as it was only £40-50 less i didnt go into it. Gumtree four free featured adds before they where £15 a pop Dedicated call in line so when someone rings you know its from gumtree and what car there looking at. The gumtree app is good as well but we already use that. A call log where you can go back if you missed any calls “hello mr james you rang about our Fiesta” kind of thing I like that feature. eBay pro gives you same dedicated phone line a showroom / page which you can link your gumtree adds to and act like a webpage eBay pro also allows you to list your add in HTML whilst I am no expert it makes for adding pictures in your listing like your garage outside or logo very easy, looking forward to having a play with it see what it delivers. up to 30 cars listed on both sites. We use gumtree it works well for us this is only another £100 a month so got to be worth a shot need only one or two sales a year to cover it, as I said it works for some people and some people it doesn’t we work against the normal and make ours the most expensive let the bottom feeders go buy from jimmy no name up the road suits me down to the ground. It does get a lot of bashing on here but I turn my stock over within 30days on average and wont even go into the cost savings over autotrader which doesn’t really suit my stock profile.
  22. I couldnt give two hoots what everyone else is doing if people are dumb enough to fall for fake traders in petrol stations with a car sales price board in the window then let crack on, standing out from the rubbish is even easier for me, we advertise heavy that we are a car garage and have been in business for twenty years am i the cheapest i would say the most expensive.not everyone on gumtree / ebay wants to buy a pile of crock, they have some very good view rates and decent prices i turn my stock over on average within 30 days. Yes i get the odd 3am how much for hash i mean cash mate, I just ignore them and carry on with my day, Its a module that clearly doesnt fit all but works very well for us so i am over the moon with the link between gumtree and ebay just signed up for 18 months £300 a month for the pair which includes all the bells and whistles, such as Ebay motors website / showroom dedicated call indicator so when people ring in it tells me what car there ringing about and a few more handy little features.
