  1. I always ask first as mentioned its a game of whits, I tend to avoid questions that allow them to give a silly answers like how much do you want for your car, that often gets answered with as much as i can get, so that answer gets you no where, try ones like what do you value your car at. The price range i work at thankfully it doesnt come up often and when it does i am being offered a pile of turd fit for scrap which i am happy to give them £150 for and explain the advantages of letting me doing it over the local scrote who will sell it on and not transfer the log book ect, that often focuses there minds.
  2. Finding 30 cars to fill the site at the right money / condition / spec is going to be hard enough, good stock for a while now has brought a top premium and squeezed margins very tight. good luck your going to need it.
  3. Agreed i would rather know where i am, but sometimes its a waiting game next auction sometimes i have had the same car for a few pounds less.
  4. not part of the big two but our local auctions, i never push them as there often waiting for an answer on several cars from the same vendor, i know some garages push for an answer early and the block just say its been declined.
  5. Thats very rude....................its Mr Twat to you
  6. Agreed with my Happy above, you will get pennies if any at all, best route ebay gumtree facebook, there is always someone happy to take the junk you just need to find them in your local area, another option i used to people watch in the auction and you soon see a pattern of the same people buying the same things similar money ect, just look out for junk collectors and approach them direct there often more than happy to save auction fees.
  7. And everyone knows these cars are headaches like no other, yet they are climbing all over each other to buy them in the ring, i am running as fast as i can in the opposite direction
  8. I am confused how you would manage to sell a car and not be liable for any problems be interested to here how that works, who insures the test drive ? its not your car so wouldnt be you its not the customers so wouldnt be there and the main dealers most certainly would not cover it
  9. Where does the warranty lie if there is a fault and they will be somewhere? how could people get to test drive the car if it remains with the dealer ? To be fair most of the dealers i used to buy out of now send everything to the dump saves them time which equals money as they dont have sales people haggling with traders I think they would look at this scheme the same way. Also not sure where you looked but at our auctions almost every clean car brings over cap clean.
  10. Buy them back ??? wow someones head will roll for that contract being signed.
  11. You rude no way i cant image that you have an amazing outlook on life fair play.
  12. What's not to get? If you owned a site with 50- 100 cars plus and you need to replace 10-20'at a time the costs of driving all over the place to save 10-20% arranging transport etc doesn't add up at. A lot of medium to large outlets make so much on finance the purchases cost of the car is no longer key.
  13. Why would you tax a customers car ? It's takes nano seconds on line I offer the customers use of our system to do it and often help them fill in the boxes, hardly rocket science.
  14. Or people starting to worry about how they going to afford xmas ? thank god i dont rely only on the income from cars
  15. I suffer with this problem a lot, selling mostly small engine first time buyer kind of cars I get the 17-18 year olds with there parents and grandparents who often end up paying arguing over what they like and dont like which often leads to them going away to think about it.
  16. How can a 52 plate focus be worth any more than scrap money, i would have charged the customer to take it off there hands, Scrap would be my choice but of course depends what you allowed in the deal sounds like a lot, pond life gumtree would love it.
  17. With the ever changing world of cars and there faults customers and there rights, trading standards and there often mind boggling way of looking at things advertising media changing daily, I think most of us would call ourselves novices.
  18. Before you jump in head first o have to ask any reason why your thinking German cars ? Over the past two years the VW brand has cost me more in warranty repairs than any other make to the point now I would sell a fiesta over a polo any day of the week. never used either of the people you mentioned so unable to comment on them.
  19. I cant make it until tomorrow thats fine but if someone makes it before you its gone.....simples I do however always take phone numbers so i can tell people they snoozed so they lost
  20. It used to be back hand city, now most of the small dealerships have been gobbled up by big groups who have amazing deals with the big auction houses those days are well gone. Most of the people left so called dealing with the dealers via special handshakes are either full of it, or hanging on by a thread
  21. You could go five months and then be surprised that your doing so well then register for VAT
