  1. Works fine for me, i work slightly different to other dealers, i see what is priced similar and put an extra £100 on top, i often get the guy up the road is cheaper, i just tell them your money you choice but good luck taking it back in a month with a fault and trying to find the guy you meet in a petrol station to buy your daughter her first car.
  2. I think every industry has similar issues, There was a guy in the fish shop done a similar thing this morning for some reason there was only one staff member on lots of people in there, anyway he wanted to know the ins and outs of marine fish keeping from lighting to fish to tanks the works the attendant done his best to answer as quick as he could without sounding rude, the buyer then said thanks and did the shop have any starter kits for £100 the poor sales guy just spent almost an hour going through pumps which where five times that price. Barmy army
  3. Yep plus one for banging in the bids also, our local non franchised auction house tends not to run the local traders up,also helps if your known for buying a certain kind of car I would place a large bet when i see a certain car coming through as who is going to buy it (leaving out the private punters who always go up and beyond)and 9 out of ten times i am right.
  4. This is in my view one of the hardest part of the industry, but getting very close are idiot customers with a law degree from google
  5. A lot depends on what type of cars your buying if its newish kit with lots of options then there handy if your a bread and butter guy like me there not worth the paper there written on.
  6. Maybe he wanted the faded pink shade of red...what ever floats your boat
  7. Leasing companies offering Fiat 500 as per your example is a totally different business module to what i understand car brokering to be, or again i might have misunderstood what your trying to do.
  8. I am still very confused under what conditions would i pay someone to go buy a car for me, ok maybe if i was an A list celeb i wouldnt want to do anything mundane like go car shopping but do they not have agents or pa's that take care of those kind of things. But good luck if you think you spotted a gap in the market go for it, its only money
  9. If he hands the car back then no doubt they will have some local trader (mate) who will say he paid him 4K for it and the client will owe the balance of loss plus costs. I might be wrong and the loan company could do the decent thing, but judging by there apr i very much doubt i am.
  10. so by the time you get chipped hard on your 10k your just about going to clear the loan, thats insane
  11. clearly log book loans is where the money is
  12. There are a few people out there who think the same and buy transits which are everywhere to buy, however the market share has been and i strongly think will always be with the VW bug lovers, to be fair the VW van up until the T6 which is showing early electrical headaches is a well built bit of kit, (apart from the silly sliding window which leaks like a brown paper bag trying to hold water) so you can see why there popular. I tried a few different makes the transit was the worst sat around for ages and ended up hardly clearing a profit on it, the Vivaro did well that said i did buy it cheap to start with so that might be the reason who knows. And in the other brands there all the same Vauxhall Nissan and Renault same as the Aygo C1 and 107 theme. And i would avoid the Mercs like a wasps nest they rust faster than a 2001 Ford KA
  13. Why would a simple "sorry we do not offer finance" put you at risk of a bad review ? i have told loads of people we do not offer finance never had an issue maybe if finance companies didnt act silly regarding retarded customers trying to reject cars more small dealers would sign up.
  14. Do you carry your Scythe everywhere
  15. I took a similar route a few years back offering custom racking to commercial vans, along side supply and fitting ply wood to new commercial vans, we are now number one supplier for four main dealers in our area, I also did the transporter thing one major pitfall i found was building vans for customers spec there a nightmare with there designs in the end i stopped as nothing was good enough for them and there time scales where insane, coupled with the crazy prices the T5 where starting to bring I moved away from this avenue. Plenty of people out there doing well with this business though not to be knocked. My car sales is almost a hobby these days to what it was like.
  16. I love august cant get enough of it best month of the year for me, not cars though they suck the same as every other month
  17. Any patch would show up like a rotten pint of milk, I would cut back on anything else and make the roof like new, People who buy convertibles its normally the first thing they look for, or in your add you could highlight the fact it a wee bit more money as it has a brand new roof defo a selling bonus.
  18. BHM do you think its time for a career change every post your living the car sales dream
  19. Small claims court / doubt he will attend win a judgement by default then ask the sheriffs from the tv to attend i was amazed they only charge £70 and then a small percentage to collect the debt, i would go all the way just for spite.
  20. I once got asked how long I have been here for, I replied 26 years this year feels like a life sentence with a smile, to which the couple replied 26 years aw never mind we where looking for someone more established.
  21. at least you can understand him, all i have had this weekend is text talk, and i am loathed to get the urban dictionary out to understand a single word they say.
  22. yes both backs last one was an 09 with 18k on the clock and it turned into mush, pig of job to change as well. I just walk past them now in the block which is a shame apart from the axles there a decent selling car.
  23. The more i think about it the more i think i pick the customers these days not the other way around, I just told a right snooty mare and her spoilt rotten brat of a son they might be better of looking for a different car in another garage.
