  1. i was just going to say do NOT do the reset unless you put a clutch set in to be honest its not a car i would recommend to retail just like say an auto aygo because they never feel right and you would be waiting for the customers call of complaint
  2. theres more to the world than being in a box i am not a number i am a free man with a mini moke

  4. you still need a competent person to carry out your warranty work you need to make customers aware your warranty if self warranting is a return to base unless prior approval to repair elsewhere is in writing also things like hotels private airyplane to destination in the event of a breakdown isnt covered you are basically giving the customer enhanced mechanical cover commensurate with a s/h product attention is in the detail and get them to sign at pos to confirm they have read your terms and conditions and your gdpr statement
  5. because just like now nobody likes paying for knowledge they just expect you to do it so it was never going to pay properly unless you got a job in r@d i always use the adage it isnt the use of the hammer its knowing where to hit with it good luck on your eep rommin
  6. sit back feet up some old holbern in the pipe and think about it an offered warranty implies you have faith in your product are willing to stand by it and basically go over and above what joe bloggs down the street is offering the cra is a minimum requirement and by saying it you are basically saying i will do the minimum possible required by law if you are running from premises and are established then people understand that a warranty can not always be offered dependant on price/year/mileage if you are working from home then put yourself in the position of buyer and ask yourself what is your usp if your usp is price only then dont offer a warranty in my opinion however if you want transparancy in your business dealings and want customers to see you as open honest and willing to go an extra mile if needed then a warranty offered in the advert can give terrific peace of mind especially if car being bought for say a new driver
  7. this is why its always best buying high value items from the local factor well done ,sweat over i ordered a complete kit for a customer last year for a sprinter,it arrived and because i had taken the customers word that the original engine was fitted turns out it wasnt so kit wrong, fortunately i had used pages so i didnt pay the 10% return fee for wrong parts ordered special
  8. you should be more worried that an alien spaceship had transferred you to an alien land i felt out of place 40 years ago, i dont even like driving down there anymore,i was invited to a party by family to wandsworth but doing the streetview i re-conned the venue was too near street violence for my liking
  9. horses for courses thing is often from eastern europe they say will arrive within a time scale but never does, yes you can complain but often end up playing the waiting game

  12. Frank Massey is the best man in the business to learn from,he often does articles in the trade magazine aftermarket too,
  13. lets cut to the chase the reason some customers ask is they haven't got the confidence to buy at auction themselves and to cap it they dont like to think you are making money out of them normally if you push them you will find they've been to auctions lately but the product you are offering and the service included is better than the hammer prices and quality they have seen of course if you are getting a lot of these questions then your stock is wrong because these people are more interested in low prices than quality stock and they mainly don't buy even though they cant find better bite the lip .move on,theres a better customer behind them
  14. hi the oil tensions the chain fair enough if it is worn out but ive had them here sounding like a bag of nackers but no oil either once given elixir they quieten down after 10 minutes these things only hold 3 litres so they always need buying on mileage and looking clean ie tyres with tread rather than ex pizza delivery, but i know you know that
  15. its june in 30 hours and boy does trade slow down then unless you specialise in something wanted like icecreams
  16. if its already in trade then he has 3 months from invoice date to keep it in trade himself after 3 months he registers it to dvla ( its the laur) or sells it to another in house trading name to start the ball roll again :-o
  17. if terms and conditions dont make clear what a holding deposit means then you refund in full realistically what the OP is saying is they are willing to steal the deposit off the customer madness get your trading terms stated in your advert but without taking away the consumers rights and move on leave stealing deposits to the morons that appear on daytime tv shows nasty nasty
  18. get it on ebay watch the bids come in

  20. ah those were the days the constant phone calls asking if i was coming in now the holiday season has started i called it puppy love
  21. this would all point to the fact these motors dont like being left maybe if they were started every couple of days and moved up and down the box? might sound silly but i do this with any long term sticker, turn all switches put heater motors on air con etc etc this stops things from going faulty even worse with old classic cars they need the engines running up to stop the oil seals drying out i have a selection of good used alternators in stock accumulated over time and its surprising how quickly the brushes stick to the commutator
