  1. We do send reminders from our workshop but this is a great one too ! the reminder will be sent it says 29 days before its due so still the same - you get 13 months ! If you add your customers on - they still need to click the email when they get it to activate the reminder.
  2. Hit and miss as Rory says, I no longer offer it as it causes more grief than it's worth , only available on cars less than 8 years old if you didn't know.

Dealer Research Initially yo have to do it manually with each car , then there is 'data feed' that can be sent to various platforms from either your DMS / Website / website provider etc etc - There is a special feed type- Format - so it shows all the data/images etc etc ( Can't just remember -senior moment !!) and some will take CSV Files ! Take copies of licence ( Gut feeling - you can't beat that ...most of the time) - Sign a 'Test Drive Declaration ' - Insured for unaccompanied test drive 25_ - customers love going out on their own , but to be honest if I'm not sure I'll go with them. The form makes it official and gets full details inc Tel No , email address , SOI , Etc etc On on Thursday customer test drove a car had been elsewhere before told me how they just handed the keys and said " don't get caught out on cameras' never took his details ... how does that work - I said surely they have your address or tel no - he said they never asked for anything !!!     Holidays

    One man band 20 years last week ! To be fair last 3 years not had a holiday - various reasons BUT in my early days closed - divert phone to an agency and didn't really care if I lost business as that's how you have to be or you burn yourself out. Now I have a friend , not experienced at all in car sales but helps me out , he can deal with customers he will sell under instructions , can't value cars but holds the fort , mans the phones , keep an eye on the place and takes messages , if he sells while I'm away its a bonus ! ( If genuine buyers they will leave a deposit and come back if explained to them !) Matt - Pack your bags and enjoy some 'quality' time with the misses !

    Big Cars

    The whole world does not revolve around Autotrader as we all know and I've said it many times , works for some not for others. Since April changes most if not all are affected and more and more looking at alternatives plus I feel all of us really need to be doing ' our own thing' and no fully rely on others , others who can either help make you or break you. BIG CARS obviously have different strategy than just putting all their stock on AT.

  17. Personally I'd get the car back , check out what the issue is and HELP the customer after all does it matter if its 28 days - 32 days , its not a long time since they trusted you? Even if it costs you a CAT Just think of the goodwill and future business ... but that's just how I would deal with it Mr C. I say to all my customers even after the warranty has run out should something go wrong obviously it won't be covered however please let me know and if I can help in any way I'll do it , it doesn't have to be financially, can be advise / recommendation etc and that again builds customers and recommendations.

  21. NAT WEST gets my vote been with them from day one , fully 100% support BUT its always down to the manager and I've had some great managers. Everyone will have different expediences so very difficult to generalise ! Good luck.
  22. Amazon could be set to pilot online car sales in the UK after its UK sector boss admitted car sales executives were already being recruited in preparation for the scheme. E-commerce delivery expert ParcelHero issued a warning to UK car retailers after producing a report into the strategy of the burgeoning online retailer which highlighted its future role in the business of selling cars. ParcelHero’s head of consumer research, David Jinks, said: “From books to consumer electronics, Amazon has completely transformed the market wherever and whatever it has launched. “Now the likes of Evans Halshaw and Bristol Street Motors will be taking a deep breath as it accelerates into the world of car sales.” German trade magazine Automobilwoche this month revealed that Amazon is planning to move into the European car trade – starting in the UK. Automobilwoche revealed that industry specialist Christoph Moeller had been put in charge of Amazon's European business with car makers. Moeller told the publication that the company is already recruiting car sales executives. He said that Amazon plans to run the business out of Luxembourg and is looking at Britain as its probable pilot market. Jinks said: “Amazon is looking at every branch of retail. There is small wonder that it is now looking at car sales. “Amazon is already actively making loans to its marketplace traders: it may be able to offer attractive loans on new cars in the future to its Prime Members, for example. Amazon is also likely to offer long-term lease cars.” Jinks added: “Mr Moeller’s claim that the UK will be its pilot market makes perfect sense. Amazon launches many of its ideas in the UK before the US and internationally. “For example, Amazon trialled its own delivery arm, Amazon Logistics, in the UK before it launched it elsewhere, in order to perfect its one hour Prime Now service before commencing its own deliveries in America. “Amazon trialled selling small Fiats in Italy last year, with some success; but even the dinky Fiat 500 can’t be left under your doormat or in your porch. “Amazon will likely have to work with an established car distributor to deliver your new car; introducing an entirely new supply chain.” Lisa Bedwell, senior research director at Future Thinking, said: “Amazon’s ambitious move to take on the automotive market and sell vehicles directly in the UK is an exciting game changer which will be making established automotive traders nervous. “While key existing players such as AutoTrader are likely to take steps to offer a more tailored, specialised service to differentiate from Amazon, for automotive brands there is an opportunity to push for these platforms to offer more space where they can build a closer relationship with customers.” Bedwell added: “Trust is now at a premium in the automotive industry, particularly in the wake of the recent Volkswagen’s emissions scandal, with the brand-customer relationship more important than ever for the sector.
