And if it's coming from Kinross, you may as well order all round discs and pads for it now. Sorry Mat

Slightly off thread, but ex premier league player Malcolm Christie flogs Aston Martins for a living. What's the name of this car broker?
-
Used to do really well with these back in the day. You could load up a transporter of Astra Merit Estates from Belle Vue in british racing pink for under 10k, and because they had the Isuzo engine they never went wrong. Happy, simple days......

Very much this. Anyway, had another lovely tickle last week on a UKCG car. It had been on my watch list for a week or so. Booked Cap Clean at £3300 but had a couple of orange failings on the AA report. Did a couple of sales with no bids, went on buy it now for £2800 and still nothing then when on buy it now for £2300. I took a chance on it, snapped it up and having used it all weekend there is absolutely nothing wrong with it now it's had a good blast with it being a low mileage diesel. Minimal prep and will be on sale this evening at £4495. Happy days.

Looking for some advice from home traders please
sparky replied to Jon's topic in General Dealer Chat
Apparently Auto Trader is a sell. -
Once again for your business model Mr Ginge, I can't help feeling you'd be better spending that money on FB. Also, what you have been offered does seem a bit OTT compared to ebay and Motors which would surely bring in more leads.
-
Surely at least 10 of us on here could email this on to 10 dealers local to ourselves along with what trade vet suggested. Acorns and Oak trees and all that.
-
Surely not? I'm sure it would look good on car sales memes.
-
Bloody hell Rory, that's some read. Could this be the straw that brakes the camel's back?

This is why it annoys me when remote dealers complain that they have been stitched up online with poor descriptions because over the course of a year, I bet we win a lot more that we lose, but we do like to moan Manheim are a lot harsher on their cars than BCA, no question, and I'll look at all their Grade 5 cars whilst on the other hand, BCA grade 5's really are rough and not worth bothering with. I just wish BCA would follow what Manheim do and report any odours in the car. Maybe when filling out those BCA monkey surveys those of us on here could mention it, you never know, they might listen to the peasants

Must be the first class service you offer.

My gut feeling says you'd be better spending that amount of money on FB. When your all set up, I reckon £30 a week for a whole quarter on FB could do some some serious damage. Just make sure your phone is fully charged!

Watched a few going through vans going through Belle Vue today after selling a couple of vans recently and being reminded of how straight forward the van sales process is. I've now been reminded why I've never bought a commercial from BCA for donkey's years. An hour of my life that I will never get back.

There is one branch of Manheim that I have a relationship with that enables me to have the cars checked over by one of their buyer services team who know their onions. Always nice to have a second opinion, especially on the mechanical side. Of the cars I've had looked over for me recently, three have come back with 'don't touch it with barge pole, it's knackered', and yet all 37 boxes on the silver report have been ticked. Also, two cars I've recently bought from Manheim (from different branches than above) sold all good on the sure check report I've had to put claims in for, and to be fair they have paid out. Speaking to one or two, there seems to be a pattern going on. So what's going on? Who is checking these cars, what's the process if any or are they simply playing a numbers game with all these sure check fees? I know Manheim have posted on here before, I'd love to know their take on this.

I'm not a fan of these threads but feel I should something with you. Very busy, and it's all diesel.

This.

I thought Google Ad's made AT look cheap, stand to be corrected though As ever, look forward to some feedback on how it's going over the forthcoming months. Hopefully it's as successful as FB
-
Well your certainly not stupid Jim, but tell me. I'm in your neck of the woods and I'm in the market for a C3 Picasso in black with low mileage. How do I find your car?
-
When it comes to remote buying I have to say I win far more than I lose, I'd guess most do if they are being honest. Rory, I had my doubts over surecheck but the two post sale issues I've had so far have been dealt with more than fairly. I do question though who is doing these checks. Only last week I asked for a 'silver' car to be checked over as I had a buyer for it, only for the branch to come back to me and say it's ****** when the silver report gave it a clean bill of health.

Just being realistic mate. It's not for me but I wish you well.

"What if someone?". Unless you are Mark Zuckerberg there's more chance of Wrexham winning the Champions League in six years time than that ever happening I'm afraid. Cox automotive can't do it, RAC couldn't do it, Ebay can't be bothered and Tom, Dick and Harry are nowhere to be seen. Sorry.

Agree with Justina, at that end of the market you need more box profit. Don't be scared to charge a bit more. As someone said to me when I first started off, 'shy men make no dough'. As for AT/ebay/motors etc. It's a bit like debating whether your better off playing 442, 433 or 352 etc. It's a conundrum that very few have the answer to and more importantly, are able to back up. My own view is that you either go on everything else apart from AT or you go on AT and really nothing else (unless it's cheap). There is also some kind of social media (whatever that is) the kids talk about that you can shift a few motors on, apparently a bloke in Scotland does very well on it. I can't see it myself

Expect that price of base Vauxhalls in doom blue to take a hit. So is this the end of 'Pay as you drive' or are there any other companies out there offering such a product?
