My own view is that folk are not switching to diesel like they used to, but those that have diesel will still upgrade to diesel and why wouldn't they? My customers in a rural part of the world still want good economy and low tax, so there really is no other option.

Jim, there's a good reason why you are the dealer's dealer so just for fun. Looking at the job as it stands now, if your were to start again now do you honestly think that in 2031 you would employ 13, turnover £7m etc? I usually think my team can come back from two nil down, that I can shout level par after dropping 3 shots on the first and if I wasn't married I could pull Tess Daley, but as I'm sat here looking at a pitch of empty spaces again knowing that cap clean is not going to be enough to replace them again (January is putting the feel of god in me already) it really does feel that one is peeing in the wind and that the dream has been lived.

Firstly it would depend on how much land I had and where it was.

Ha, I know what you mean. Mick paint tech does my smart repairs, squibby does the dents. I'm opening a detailing bay next year with dazzler and I've just had some fencing done by bargain booze. Mrs Sparky thinks it's all a bit weird.

I love a good nickname. That's very good. One of our lot is called Pepsi. Why, because he is married to Shirley

Given what prices are like at the moment on good stock I'm seriously tempted to take January off. then Feb, maybe March.......

Notice given this weekend. Surprise surprise, all of a sudden a rep (another new one) comes on the phone asking for an appointment to no doubt try and blind me with data. Now I know it's not very popular to praise AT but compare that to my AT rep who also rang me yesterday with a 'I'll give you a shout as I'm passing through next week, if your there put the kettle on, if not no worries' comment. Can't help but feel that Motors have missed a trick or two over the last few years.

They must be selling very well judging by what they are fetching at the block.

Apparently not. I had a similar situation a few weeks ago. Car purchased from BCA sold to a customer who went with Motonova. Finance got accepted subject to previous finance being cleared. The vendor had not cleared it and according to BCA it's up to the buyer to make sure it was all clear on HPI and this has nothing to do with your indemnity. It all got sorted with no real harm done but it could have been costly if the customer was not local and had less patience.

Got to be a disco if you ask me. 10 plates are usually the best, GS spec in silver. I find them perfect at 82000 miles with history. 'Yes, but where can you find such beauty at ten bangs of sand?' I here you ask. Well, this could be your lucky day.......

Indeed. As an example, Driving Instructors seem to be busy and in my region, they have waiting lists like the NHS for taking your test.

No offence Rob, but as nice a car as that Megane maybe with a great price, it just looks bloody awful. I'd rather wake up wth Katie Hopkins than pull the curtains back and look at that first thing in the morning .I say that as someone who buys and sells a lot of Megane Coupe's and think they are a great looking car in the right colour and spec. Bit unfair to blame the state of the job on stuff like that not selling IMO.

Oh well, at least they seem optimistic about being with us peasants in the second hand game.

I've spent many a happy an hour spraying the bottom of a Montego/Maestro/metro in Hurricane grey. Well they were not happy hours at the time, but compared to what's in the dairy this week (EGR valve/ abs light and the know all to common fag lighter, ffs) they were a piece of cake. You know when you left school and that once fit bird that you have not seen in years has sadly turned into a porkie 8 pinter.......... Good luck.

Aye; I can't remember the last time I saw or heard a Motors advert. As soon as findandfund goes live I'll be switching my circa £200 a month to them.

No insurance, electric, rates, phone etc etc? Luckily my overheads are pretty low due for the size of the business, if only for that pesky AT bill they would be three figures.

Problems registering ex mod vehicles
sparky replied to Hartley Cars Ltd's topic in General Dealer Chat
Ahhhh ex MOD cars, those were the days. 20k would get you a transporter load of Astra merit diesel estates in faded red that would never go wrong. -
So, six months down the line, what are the scores on the doors Jim?

As the actress said to the bishop

Great find. One of the best car descriptions I've ever read was done by a local dealer to me years ago before tinternet, still makes me chuckle to this day. 'This car has done more miles than Judith Charmers and looks just as bad'.
-
Yep, if your playing by the rules and now little about the industry I just don't see the attraction. I'm in the process of clearing my back yard (oh matron) which could house an extra 30 odd cars. Of the options I've got, filling it with cars (or at least trying to) is at the bottom of the list.

Your really asking for trouble, just don't look at your phone when you've had a few. I put a Triumph Stag on ebay last week, spares or repair, it's fecked. A brutally honest description which included the lines non runner, no keys and no docs as well as please don't contact be email as by not answering I may offend. You've guessed it, I received emails along the line of 'I know your not answering emails, but....', and the winning bidder is now wondering how he is going to move it without any keys and can i get some cut. Hmmmmmm, let me think about that....

Very entertaing. Love this description of a 2010 Scenic " THIS ONE DRIVES HORRIBLY, JUST REALLY TIRED, ITS FILTHY AND WORN INSIDE, ITS JUST A HORRIBLE HORRIBLE CAR, WE DONT WANT ANY COMPLAINTS

Welcome to the board Earunder Apologies for taking the this thread off track somewhat, but I've yet to come across a dealer of this size (80 cars) who has ditched you know who. Food for thought.
