BEST and WORST decision that you've made in your business
sparky replied to umesh's topic in General Dealer Chat
I have a pitch, it used to be 7 days, not anymore. Life is too short. Well that's the VAT done so that's my Sunday done for this quarter- 57 replies

BEST and WORST decision that you've made in your business
sparky replied to umesh's topic in General Dealer Chat
Best (with the benefit of hindsight) was buying my pitch as the world was ending back in 2008 and making the decision to try and pay a huge mortgage off asap, thankfully it got paid off last year. Leaving Belle Vue and heading to Scotland to buy back in the noughties was another good move, sadly that golden goose no longer lays. More recently, setting up a proper indoor prep/valet bay has been a game changer, can't believe I suffered outside for so long. Worst, apart from the normal howlers nothing really keeps me awake at night, although the time I sent 25k to the wrong company instead of the auction could have been a disaster. I sometimes regret not getting into motorhomes and caravans and maybe golf buggies (long story). In a year's time I might revisit this thread with a real clanger if my storage business doesn't take off- 57 replies

You know the job is on fire when a Peugeot SW that has been sat on death row waiting for two rear seats to make it a 5 seater (yes, 5 not 7) has just sold for 4k. Funny old game.

Without doubt, my biggest hits come from cars that are powered by a french lump and have flashing warning lights. Even the odd non runner.

This. I know folk who do well off them, I also know someone who had to hand his keys back in to the bank after getting on a sticky wicket. They are not for me, I've enough stress as it is without buying any more.

Dragon2000. I'm not saying it's old but when I first got it I was young, free, single and had hair.

Insurance? You don't need insurance. Just a brown envelope full of cash and a funny handshake and your in ON a more serious note, I'm amazed the member's forum doesn't get used more.

In a moment of madness I took a 10 plate disco in. To be fair it was a proper thing and the guy is made up with it, but the money from the sale sat in a separate account for a good month or so. I imagine if you deal in this tackle then you have to be all in and then it simply becomes a numbers game.

About time. To be honest I'm amazed it's took so long for any sort of action to be taken, and I hope action is taken and it's not just empty words. If the majority of these places had to abide by the rules of the land like the rest of us do then they wouldn't even get to first base. Maybe I'm a bit biased, because as soon as they go, guess what will be popping up on my main road forecourt, and it cost a lot more than £3.50

To a degree. There are no decent 'trade' refurbers around these parts that are any good, certainly not any mobile ones. To get them done professionally would cost too much in both time and money. To be honest they are not that bad but it's a 5k world series in white so I'd like to change the colours from silver to black so was thinking of trying plastidip and if it looks like it's been done by Ray Charles simply peel it all away.
-
Thanks. Different names I guess. https://www.plastidip.co.uk/ It looks easy to use and as we know, anything in this game that saves time. My only concern on wheels would be it's longevity.

Anyone had any experience with this product? I'm going to pimp up some Megane Coupe wheels so thought I'd pick your brains before I potentially throw a oner down the dain. Ta.

Ha. Took a 2011 Chevrolet Spark in part and it flew out of the door. Do I.......

They are chalk and cheese. I get them checked by one of the sales guys who knows his stuff at one manheim branch and it makes a mockery of the reports. BCA on the other hand, well I have great faith in them. That's not to say I don't get bitten but I win far more than I lose. For me the complete report would be a hybrid of manheim's bodywork and interior report and the bca mechanical report.

Spot on. In a seller's market DA and their vendors can do what they want. For them to bring in a review system is Turkeys voting for xmas. The DA debate is going a bit like the AT debate in that there is very little that we can do about it. Your either accept it for what it is or don't use it, it's that simple. P.S Like Grant says, there is already a name and shame section going.

Justina and sc are bang on the money.

Anyone who does that return journey in a day deserves all the success that comes their way. Carlisle was the furthest I ever got. And that is why I never moan about online fees.

Sad but true.

Like most things in life, the simple is often overlooked.
