  1. Exactly. Funnily enough the Royal Mail has lost one of my log books. What’s the point of whinging over the internet cos if something’s lost it’s lost. Simple. Tell the auction house you want £25 for the Fee & just v62 it at a post office if you don’t want to add yourself as a keeper.
  2. You beat me too it! An only Omega I believe - not bad old buses, were they?

    I miss...

Punters realising a banger was a banger. Punters who readily accepted Caveat Emptor. Cash men who understood what a cash deal meant. Blu Tak-ing EML lights (or just flinging the old fashioned bulbs in the bin). MOT sheets with no advisories. The early days of Ebay auctions when they were ‘on fire’ & the private punters bought any old shite. Simple road tax rates (no punters whinging cos the car ain’t £30 a year). Easy clutch changes.
  4. +1. It’ll take 9 months to get to court & 99.9% of punters are bullshitters. There are an awful lot on this forum keen to refund their way out of a perceived potential problem. Chancers like this just need bringing to heel, tell them THEIR responsibilities & politely sack them off otherwise.
  5. Cambelt? I’d of thought the only thing an Insignia man would be concerned about is “LAST PRICE”.
  6. Fuck me, take the money then worry about storage.
  7. A year or so ago when I was buying on DA, at Worksop the Vx dealer was retail an 2008/9 Corsas & a 2004 CRV.
  8. No, some punters are embarrassed by their current car and assume you won’t want their car. 50% of them are right (punters with an 05 Megane they value at £500) but 50% of the time there’s a few quid to be had - quite often a £100-200 p/x piece of shit can be bulled-up & MOTed for similar money & turned into a nice little £999er for the ‘lamppost warranty’ market. Plenty on here won’t get out of bed for less than a £3000 wage but I’d be more than happy to get a p/x snotter every day of the week. I’m sure the lads selling lumpy cars get some lovely p/xs as well.
  9. A phone call from a local punter “wanting a look” fills me with despair
  10. Thanks for the comprehensive reply
  11. Ahh yes. I had it recently as a Turkish kebab shop owner told me he wanted £5000 for his Mercedes because “I paid £5300 for it 4 months ago & the man who sold it promised me it’d still be worth £5000 if I sold it in the first few months”!!! When I bid him “£3000 unless it’s a write-off in which case it’ll be half” he started getting shirty quoting the original seller - apparently his word was better than mine. I told him to take it back there.
  12. I recently raffled off a couple of p/x shitters on ebay - they made the sort of money I expected (shit) to the sort of punter I expected (shit). If you’ve bought below trade money you have half a chance but don’t expect a wage.
  13. You won’t get rich but Zafiras are usually nice steady money, a few weeks in stock, little interest but a man always pops-up out of the blue. Make sure the recall has been done & plaster the fact it has been across the advert - many haven’t been & the buyers simply can’t be arsed doing it themselves in my experience - also you don’t want your customers taking a car for a recall & being treated to a Vauxhall dealership’s money making attempts, a.k.a. free health check.
  14. I don’t wish to appear rude but is there any chance of some punctuation? I cannot follow some of the posts on here.
  15. The general manager, Hodges if he’s still in heading up the show, has absolutely zero interest or intention of implementing this. Months ago he actually said to me something along the lines of if he wanted to instigate a professional appraisal then we (DA) would have to add £400 to cover the costs and then nobody would use us. I kid you not. Apparently getting an outside appraiser at £400 per car was his ridiculous response to my impertinent suggestion of simply enforcing vendors to abide by the DA rules they’d signed up for. This was just one of the many gems of wisdom I received. Look at anyone on here who’s had a complaint regarding vendor’s professionalism. Forget the mealy mouthed response, what has the final outcome actually been? Something between the lines of sweet f.a. to nothing whatsoever.
  16. I know someone who services workshop equipment. However this person is a bit of a bullshitter. Anyhow the other week he was telling me he was at a large Ford main dealer. He claimed they had nowt booked in - not a single car on a lift. I thought this sounded like bullshit, perhaps not??
  17. I suspect Tesco don’t make them in my size AD, you’ll like this description of the vehicle. Do you notice what is actually missing from this description? ; PLEASE CALL TO ARRANGE COLLECTION PRIOR TO TURNING UP. OUR CARS ARE STORED OFF SITE, COLLECTION MONDAY TO FRIDAY 9.00 AM UNTIL 4.30 PM ONLY. UNLESS PRIOR ARRANGEMENT Please note: None of our trade vehicles are mechanically appraised through our workshops nor do we road test them in any way, and they are strictly sold as seen- we will however list any faults that we do know about/notice. Once the vehicle has left site there will be no partial or full refunds, so please check the vehicle over before driving away whether that be you or your delivery agent. Please allow £200 for reconditioning charges as mistakes can be made and we may miss the odd item on a car. Prompt 3 day collection must be met in order to purchase this vehicle, Mon-Fri. Please inform us before you collect the vehicle of a rough date/time as our trade vehicles are stored off-site. After this period we reserve the right to cancel the sale and relist the vehicle if we think it is necessary. Payment must be made by Debit/Credit card in person with pin confirmation, BAC's or cash upto £5000. If you are paying by BAC's, once you have processed the payment please send us a screen shot of the transaction to the email provided on our Dealer-Auction so we can identify it easier in our banking. We also ask that you pay at least 24 hours before collection as BAC's is not instant and we will not release a vehicle until the funds are definitely in our account. Thank you and good luck
  18. You’re absolutely correct but it’s a disgrace that DA are aiding & abetting them by allowing them to continue unchecked.
  19. Suzuki Ripon. IMO they were a shower of fly cunts when I used to use DA. They’ll sell absolutely any shit. Also worth noting is they know when a car has issues because their p/x compound is a distance from the showroom. One lad I know barely got off their forecourt before realising the diff was knackered. Apparently the scrawny little rent boy isn’t appraising anymore but the latest twat, sorry appraiser, is no better. What’s all this ‘nice guy’ nonsense? He lent you his ear, gave you a few comforting words but as you say there was no remedy. To me the definition of a nice guy isn’t someone who politely deflects all genuine concerns & offers absolutely nil in the way of remedial action. In my book that’s a company man toeing the line & treating you like a twat. If you think he gives a stuff about your or our opinions then I’m afraid you’re deluding yourself. PS the only thing I will add is if I was a main dealer I wouldn’t allow test drives because it’s an auction. However my appraisals would be more realistic than some of those chancers on there.
  20. £280? They’ve tried pumping £379 out of me, tied in for 6 months, but I told them I need to be attracted in with a preferential rate. At least you got a phone call today. My 11.30am telephone appointment never materialised. A fine start
  21. Take note MrV - this is an insight into the mindset of write-off customers!!
