Amazon in advanced talks with car firms to sell cars online
BHM replied to James Baggott's topic in General Dealer Chat
I seem to recall a few years ago reading that when Peugeot started with internet sales they were surprised to find the main uptake wasn’t younger buyers on cheap cars it was older buyers buying top of the range motors. -
If you send an email to ebay they’ll happily change the no. to whatever no. you want in there.

Amazon in advanced talks with car firms to sell cars online
BHM replied to James Baggott's topic in General Dealer Chat
It’s the second week in June here. I must be female cos walking into these emporiums of bullshit & false smiles always made me feel uncomfortable. Their patter absolutely stinks & from what I overhear when collecting the occasional sytner purchase it’s sank to new depths of cringeworthyness. If anyone’s going to achieve it Amazon will, not sure how main dealers will be recompensed for lost sales though. I guess warranty work & servicing will simply be with renamed ‘service centres’ with negligible courtesy of service ‘bells & whistles’. -

Sold a CAT D - customer wants to return it 2 .5 yrs later
BHM replied to RHA's topic in General Dealer Chat
This one item is the get out of jail free card. Apparently the complainant is now the car’s owner. The seller has absolutely zero responsibility towards the current (different) owner. Funnily enough many moons ago I sold a car to a neighbour (them old 2.0tdci Mondeos). For some reason only a few weeks later he sold it to another neighbour. Another 2 weeks later & the dreaded glow plug flashing light reared it’s head. Anyhow the new owner decided to knock on my front door waving an estimate for over £1500. It took me about 90 seconds to scatter this idiot. He then put pen to paper referring to Trading Standards. I responded in writing politely fucking him right off & copied-in Trading Standards. I heard absolutely nothing back. I will refer the OP back to one of my earlier posts - TELL THE BROTHER TO FUCK OFF. Give an ear to a whinger & they’ll talk into it.- 73 replies

I’ve only speed-readed this but if I understand this correctly, as well as the goodwill offer, any subsequent MOT on the website may be of help - assuming it was MOTed 6 months after you sold it the the failures (if any) may be in your favour. Surely if no MOT failure later relating to the alleged problem 6 months after sale = get out of jail free card.

Ahhh, bloody water leaks & half the time it’s ages before you notice them. I must of had to strip & dry-out about 10 Vectras/9-3s over the years. I had an Touareg here for months (when I brought it in I made a schoolboy error & forgot to check the tax - it was 3 weeks inside the £570 bracket) and finally had a viewing - EVERY punters’ first question was “What’s the tax?” Fortunately the night before I got it out to wash it & noticed a small pool of water on top of the luggage blind - the spare wheel well was almost brimming. Hours later leak dealt with & the boot trim spent the night on the radiators drying out. Just as well because the very first place the eventual buyer looked was in the spare wheel well.

I’ve got a suggestion for the OP, tell the customer’s brother if he doesn’t stop banging on about bringing the vehicle back you’ll upload a photo onto Youtube of you banging one into his cat. That‘ll make him look a right twat- 73 replies

On Friday I ran a car reg. through their on-line valuation procedure as I know a potential customer is going to do the same. Funnily enough their local branch had loads of available appointment slots including same day. Anyhow, if said punter does arrive with their car & online valuation I’ll be more than happy to match WBAC’s ‘kick in the nuts’ valuation.

Too true Mark. Any seller thinking getting a layman’s signature on a mechanical report is a ‘get out of jail free’ card is kidding themselves. We’ve all heard some of the professional advice doled out by some of these self appointed legal expertise services. Some of it sounds like absolute bollocks.
