Send him a text with your name , vendor Number and car reg number , we trust our driver and give him the card account number . 9/10 times they ring us and ask if ok to let the car go . I just say its an ugly guy with one tooth and they are fine -
Clutch has to be lined up properly when fitted ? Or it shakes Flywheel bolts tightened properly ? New Bolts ? New release Bearing fitted properly ? It was changed ?" Just a thought Might be a silly thought " But they did change the flywheel ? " one hopes . Things have been left in silly places as suggested , seen that many times . Annoying though isn't it when you've done the right thing

Acquaintance of ours says hes doing well Sold 9 on Sat he says and took 30k on the card terminal . Hows did that take place? i ask , simple he knocked £8,000 of the total take of 9 cars , Still thinks he did well all because hes had them too long . He forgets how much they have cost him to buy , Hasn't a bloody clue Makes me wonder how many more out there doing the same , Money turners NOT money earners Brags about his VAT bill being low WOW Duh Truth is his vat bill rent bill and £4,000 advert bill is due mmmmmmmm all at once .

My son started mechanics college a good few years ago now , Get into the college workshop and see the tutors , It was the tutors who placed my son in a place that was very beneficial to him and the garage . Told him he was wasting his time at college and started him two weeks after joining . The tutors don't recommend the idle good for nothings , and there's a few of those about , cant be arsed and never will be sorts , the good ones go to good homes , so knowing the tutors and showing interest gets results . That's from my son and not my assumption too . Only trouble with the good ones is they leave and set up on their own , so it can be a never ending circle with them . I just LOVE sacking these sorts , Come er son , pack your bags and get out NOW

Had four cars a little to long in my opinion , thought Bugger it I'll put them up , always works when I get that fuzzy feeling in my head 1 , £12,495 to £12,995 , =6 weeks 2 , £12, 295 to £12,695 =5 weeks 3 , £4,795 to £4,995 =4 weeks 4, £3,290 to £3,495 =9 weeks That was two days ago , AT shown increased attention on all 4 Web site trackers shown increased attention too . Today we have sold all four cars before 11am £1,100 better off and they never chipped us . Even got two bottles of wine and a box of chocolates As I've said before , Funny old trade at times . Anyone do this trick on a regular basis , Customers know best sometimes .

If only I had a crystal ball.........

Best px we ever had was Guy was worried about the 200 mile journey on the train to collect his new car from us . I said you mentioned your scrapping your old car and will it make the journey ? yes he said but its scrap , NO Prob i said i would scrap it from here for you . Long story short he arrives and I didn't even look at his car till after he had gone . Picanto 6 yrs old 28,000 miles with history he had it from new , it was so filthy he didnt see it was unmarked under the muck , Sold it retail and its still around today . Had a stupid one this week though . Guy comes in for a daughter car , her Yaris is getting on , we have the usual fight over values and finish up at £300 for it 04 70k same family from new . Arranged deposit £300 and collection on Monday , this morning she had accident in the yaris , its written off , Can we still collect the new car on Monday with the same agreement of £4800 balance he said , NO your balance just moved to £5,100 because the Yaris will go to the scrap yard . He still doesn't get it . Weird times were in -
BCA do post the charges , but only the private buyers fees , only ever have done , Silver /Gold /Platinum & Black have never been displayed
-
Aston Barclay are the cheaper , because you don't have to start at the bottom of the buyers pile , same fees for all buyers
-
RS it was , I still cant understand the no profit thing though , That's for sure ,
-
Only one sensible answer to profits isn't there As much as possible is the truthful answer . More on some and less on others is the blinding truth , If you get the calculator out , pye charts , graphs and all the rest of the calculations regarding % this and % that , you are doomed I say doomed ****eg ******Golf TSI in the block other day , Needed two bumpers painting , 4 tyres , three wheel refurbs , BCA assured pointed to manifold problem and it rattled on start up , Needs chain then . Retail it would fetch £8295 tops at age and mileage . Spend if you do it yourself , is around £600 /£900 depending on what sort of tyres needed , Made £7250 OUCH , + fees and report out the door say £7600 ish Assume the wheels are not going to be done , 2 month MOT left lets leave that , Switch EML light off "await warranty call " as going to deny manifold and chain was faulty and Paint is done £200 if cheap Tyres have no choice as 2mm only So £200, still makes it £8,000 on the showroom floor + advert , +valet , as a min that takes £200 which now makes £8200 and still a mess really plus it needs chain and manifold . saw it up at £8495 Now thats two months ago , still for sale , but now its £7595 , clearly this so called trader has forgotten what he paid or it . ****Another last week ***. Megane , local guy to us paid £16,500 on hammer plus fees , needed MOT , Service and new tyres 3mm rear 1mm front , Its on sale at £17,295 , I wanted to sell it at £16,495 and that was on the high side really plus I like to earn money out of it ,so shows what he paid over book for the bloody thing . Then tries to gross about £300 out of it . Be £99 left after Advert , MOT , VAT , and a wash Funny trade at present
-
On Any MOT cert thats missing on cars we have bought I have just printed the MOT history papers off the GOV site CHECK MOT HISTORY " MOT History " in fact we check every MOT History on all cars purchased . Give that to customer as it gives Expiry date as well . Not a certificate anymore really is it , all been online for ages now .

Is commission for sale or return vehicle vatable?
David Horgan replied to Rmar's topic in General Dealer Chat
if your VAT registered then yes .the fee is subject to VAT on top of the charge you said to the owner . -
Trader friend of ours , sold a car £9,495 on credit card . 4 months later its back with 9k on clock stating its not fit for purpose , Customer got money back from Credit card company minus usage £450 , the car is a bloody mess , wheels kerbed , paint damage , cig burn in seat , stinks of weed , all tyres changed for ditch finders cheap stuff . Total set up it was . His fault though , hard lesson , costly lesson , Anyone NEW TO CARDS , Remember , DONT Take CREDIT cards EVER , As Jason above says , £1 you could be in trouble , a YEAR later Too

Barclay card with Payzone are offering some great rates . Money in day after and moving very soon to same day or next day depending what time the money was took . Tip for keeping track like trade vet has said is "end of day bank every deal " and write every card transaction reg and name of card holder in a book next to the terminal , hi light every amount when end of day has been done then you can trace every payment , "simples " . Used to use Transax but got a little expensive , Barclay card was half . Terminal is £19-£25 and % is negotiable , depends on how much you take i suppose . TOP TIP , Never take money on the phone EVER , NEVER EVER got It NEVER take money over the phone , PIN only . Take a deposit over the phone of no more than your prepared to lose is GOOD advice I take £100 ONLY on the phone , NO exceptions EVER

Phew that's great news , Don't panic Mr Mannering any more Seriously , we can laugh now , pleased the money is with you Tony .

BCA is bending over to the vendors , brown nosing all the way , Vendors have taken over the running of the sites , this is where the problems are coming from regards car parking for us traders . Vendors want to keep us away from viewing and listening to the cars in my opinion and buy online , add up the online fees 40,000 cars at online buyers charge , min staff needed , No cafe to run , cut down on girls on the windows taking payments and eventually no need for expensive auctioneers either , Vendors made BCA notts build new halls so supermkt buyers didn't have to walk from one hall to another so they spent a cool million putting two new halls back to back to keep the powers that be happy . they cant just be happy and leave it as it is , each new generation has to interfere . Next generation will wonder why its not working , and reinvent a new system of lets invite traders to bid on site again , we could even put a thing called the auctioneer on a stool to take bids Funny world isnt it
