For whats its worth I have a 2010 M3 DCT in Grey with 52k priced 24k coming up to 3 months no interest whatsoever!

64 Astra VXR with 5k extras and 17k priced 17995 some interest but nothing serious also coming to three months.

12 640dm sport with 28k only two calls.

Very quiet and a little worrying but I think like anything it will sell eventually or at least I hope they will

how many of you think that the price that we have to pay for stock is playing a big part in it combined with the attractive pcp deals that are around?

I think it's type of stock more than anything, m cars seem to drop like a stone, we have been lucky in that both the m4 and m5 we have had moved eventually but unless you sell them quickly they depreciate quicker than your margin.

i'm off to Edinburgh tomorrow to view an a6, we advertised another a6 yesterday and have had quite a few calls on that today so the phone foes work.

The only thing I would say is a lot of your stock is quite leggy even the high end stuff. I'm only a small dealer but tend to sell low mileage especially high end. Nice profile though.

i do a lot of high mileage stuff as iv always done good out of it

low miles stuff never does well with me but around the 70 mark is always good miles

everyone on here thanks for your replys all have been great

Think different dealers do well different mileage cars - I used to do quite well many years ago with 70/80k cars - but when I started to go for the low/ very low mileage cars I started to struggle with higher mileage cars , its what you get known for !

I know some dealers who tell me they cannot sell low mileage cars , I guess its because No1 - they don't see value themselves so unable to sell it and 2- customers maybe don't look there if majority are higher mileage cars !

Keep battling on and try not to beat yourself up to much......everyone I speak to.....dealers, finance reps, warranty rep etc are saying its dead. I have 2 large car supermarkets near me and one did 1 at the weekend and the other 3 - the salesman even started prospecting!! We're quite too and it gives me time to tidy up the showroom a bit, changed some tattyish looking spec card holders, re-cleaned a few. re-photo'd them, and changed the adverts a little and we did a couple at the weekend and one yesterday.

We are a small 20-25 car indoor unit but try and really push the benefits of buying from us - cherry pick the best stock, every car serviced and MOT'd, 6 month warranty with car, warranty inspected, personally test driven by us to check everything works no squeaks or rattles etc, if you have a issue you come and speak to us and not get passed around departments and managers like in a dealer/supermarket etc etc

Everyone gets peaks & troughs, you can try so hard and sell nothing then a week down the line people just pour in and don't even want a test drive.  So unpredictable!

I know lots of people are finding it hard going at the moment, if I can make a small nit-pick though;

I searched your website, clicked on used cars which auto-sorted low to high. The first car I "saw" was a £499 Focus with no pictures. You have some nice lumpy stock, I'd be highlighting this to your customers first and let them search down to their price point, not the other way around. It shows you as a business in a better light (people presume high value stock, better dealer) and makes your cheaper stuff look better value. Just my 2p

I have not seen that at any auctions I buy from Cornish Guy. If only that were the case.

When you are claiming to be a specialist in German / prestige cars and the first car presented on your website is a £499 Focus PX to clear it doesn't give off a great image in my opinion.  Default the search as high to low or whatever other way you can to get your best cars presented first.   I think some customers would think twice about dropping 20k at a dealer that is also shifting £500 rot boxes.

Also I think given the photography and general presentation could be better.

Ultimately though I think it is the kind of stock.  High miles, high depreciation stock is always going to burn a hole in your pocket if it doesn't get turned around quickly.

Funny you should mention mercs, we priced a px up at the weekend and the other Steve mentioned something similar regarding merc pricing. We put in a very low amount based on it being dull, grey with grey interior, a broken light and other bits a pieces oh and that we didn't want it.

Hope things have picked up, (Ive gone a little quiet since the bloody sun came out) had a quick look at your website and spotted a spelling mistake (this is the type of detail that will put some people off, particularly if they're looking at buying high end prestige stuff) also agree with bestprice4cash - I'd retake some of your photographs as the angle is a little odd, you've got a Tigra that I thought was an Insignia at first glance

Basildon Car Sales, Specialise in German cars and offer finance with Main Leander's

also GG would probably have a view on - LIKE A CAR WHY NOT COME DOWN TODAY

being a complete pedant should it now say - LIKE A CAR? WHY NOT COME DOWN TODAY

good luck, you've got some really nice cars there so don't understand why they're not selling
