  1. I joined up as my local shitroen dealer started sending all there stock there which we where able to buy once upon a time, the dealer manager was fed up of traders being there all the time wasting the sales people time, plus having to put up with low ball offers, all of a sudden the prices i used to pay i would say add 40% with people from all over the country buying them so it killed it for me back to the block it is, thankfully our local auctions are not the big two so we can still make a living. But to answer your question they do sell tidy stock but sadly due to the exposure da gets you now have to pay a hell of a lot more for them.
  2. Changing a pollen or fuel filter isn’t going to protect you against any future claims don’t quite understand that bit. Its a cost decision for us certain cars demand the full monty some don’t the German buyers normally want everything down to the air in the tyres changed, which no difference it will still fail a mot on emissions
  3. They must have changed there criteria then as to open an eBay pro account you had to be vat registered where as gumtree you didn’t
  4. If you spend a lot of time appraising a car test drives like you say then da and auctions don’t fit that module. You for sure wil not be turning up at bca and spending an hour going over anything. And da you have to be vat registered I know who are not but have no idea how they got into the system.
  5. I just sold a Ghia in black fully loaded in lovely condition for £1795 !!
  6. Most of the big boys will not be looking at the car price but the bolt on's to make there margin, huge commissions for gap ppi superguard the list does go on.
  7. Stay away from the vat man for as long as you possibly can within the letter of the law of course, your pictures look ok i always try and keep them at the same distance your first picture is a good one then the next one is a couple of feet back i would try and be more consistent. Your wording is ok a little ott on the been loved theme remember most German buyers dig into every single detail just a quick look at the mot history and when a VAG buyer sees this on the last two mot's he will be out measuring every inch of rubber Nearside Front Tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.E.1) Offside Front Tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.E.1)
  8. I had dealings with the RBS carnage and them calling in loans so have first hand experience a lot of loans they called in (they called them debt which no doubt some of them where but some where just your normal every day standard loans) they in a nut shell went after anyone who had more assets than the loans outstanding the worst offenders rotten apples call them what you like where ignored, two years I fought them and got almost every penny back in default interest they charged but it will forever leave a sour taste in my mouth. Why Santander would employ such a person is a very bizarre move. All this was nothing to do with the car sales a separate business her indoors used to run. A friend of mine who banks with HSBC has just had the cold shoulder as his business no longer fits HSBC business model in other words ferk off
  9. To be fair people who use Facebook and do not follow the above guides are the ones who complain that Facebook doesnt work for them.
  10. Defo not for me either every time some one walks into the garage asking do we buy cars I can’t remember the last time it ended well . Maybe try and find a small auction house instead of the cattle market big names ones, there often far cheaper.
  11. Agreed with all said above, and i never show the engine bay no matter how clean it is people worry about engines and your reminding them about there fears.
  12. There second hand cars no matter how hard you try things go wrong. I stick to what I know so when it goes wrong it’s rare I don’t know what it is.
  13. i do well with the Beetle anything else i run a mile i said it before i am amazed they still have a following in the trade.
  14. Totally agree, everyone laughs at the french, i have never had a clio fail an mot over emissions unlike almost every single polo i have bought, still scratch my head at people in the trade (and long time traders not newbies ) still waving there hands in the air like they just dont care over polos These days i see a vw heading into the ring and its my alarm clock for a toilet brake.
  15. Didnt they so well after the emission cheating scandal they had to sort out. I still think there a pile of poo last year again the most problem brand i had to deal with.
  16. Me to turned away two the weekend as there offers where wait for it first one £75 more than i paid for the car the second £150 less than i paid for it.
  17. Yep nothing beats it, our version of legal high Bought a mini of a private customer last week who had been quoted £1400 to repair his abs fault at local indy, we stole the car and yep you guessed it front left hand abs sensor £42 bing bang bosh bring in the dosh.
  18. I would also have the car back and fixed myself, each to there own of course.
  19. they are vicious with there claw backs as already mentioned you can send money via a gift which doesnt include fees but i only got asked once and declined cant see why anyone would need to use paypal
  20. Set your stall out early make sure there employed as staff and not mates, it often goes that way with a small amount of staff, be firm but be fair and consistent. Remember everyone has there faults if they where perfect they would be out there doing it themselves, you will also have to adjust for there shorfalls or train them up accordingly. Lastly make sure there working contract is done correctly not a diy one of the internet well worth the money if a falling out should happen the amount of no claim bottom feeding scum bag solicitor firms that will happily make your life hell for free is off the charts. (£4.5k the last one cost me) Lastly upon lastly this might be a long process it may take 3-4 attempts to get someone that fits with what you want dont give up.
  21. Keen is good borrowing isnt so good, some of the best business models i have seen myself are ones that have no overheads / borrowings.
  22. Also depends on what car it is, like already mentioned Vauxhalls are well known for it, doesnt mean its terminal, however more unusual to see on say a Ford Fiesta, you can normally look for other clues such as has someone changed the thermostat which means someone has been looking for a fault or it did have a fault and maybe thats fixed it ,rad, pipes water bottle, dip stick check for any gunk down there. This is where experience comes a life saver but you only learn through mistakes, sure we all been there many many times
