  1. They will pick at random a quarter or two and run the figures themselves to see if they add up per your submitted returns, they also look for the "old" tricks in the book such as cash sales was the deposit included in the full invoice price and the other long list of things common to the car industry. Refunds are often picked up as well to ensure the sums add up this was two points we got pulled on as we didnt give the full refund amount they wanted an explanation as to why. Fuel logs might be looked at, we purchased a lot of red diesel which is 5% vat rated and stands out. The most obvious one is they will be looking at is your lifestyle, a friend of mine not in the car game is being ripped apart at the seams as we speak as his drawings are £20k a year, so the revenue asked him how does he afford to live 3 children a huge house three holidays last year food the list went on, the claimed 2k odd a month doesnt cover his mortgage payments and council tax let alone anything else, the outcome hasnt arrived yet but its clear to say he is in a world of pain.
  2. I have been there twice won one lost one, but hmrc where still decent to work with, the second case was handled by another county's office as my good lady was involved in preparing the records so conflict of interest raised its head which is fair enough., we still laugh about it the case i won was the one i done the records for the one we lost was her doing ! hay ho What a lot of people do not see is the mind blowing amount of cases where its clear as polished glass that HMRC has been defrauded.

  8. The motor doesn’t struggle on the newer cars like they used to they just shut down for the sake of five mins I would get them lubed up
  9. I had the same devil on my shoulder tell me that Corsa are not all alike
  10. Research is king, Research what sells well in your area. Research what everyone else isnt doing in your area, you wont make money walking into an auction as a newbie buying bread and butter stuff standing next to the man with a pitch who can ask more for the same car, his buying power power will be better he will get cheaper rates on repairs paint the list goes on. Research where to buy cars from and at what cost do the math in between see if it stacks up. Research who can fix them paint them mot them service them. Research where is the best and most cost effective way of selling the car. Research logistics from buying the car to getting it for paint mot repair ect Research what happens when they go wrong. Ummm.... my point is research is king.
  11. I think mrv Should change his name back to benji
  12. I think if you asked someone to come up with a stupid system they would struggle to get one to match the current mot system.
  13. I think the op heading should be how to manage a stocking plan loan not how to get one, anyone can borrow money making it work for you is the trick. Nextgear are a very good company to deal with, they tailor there packages to suit each dealer, so any quotes you see on line might not be relevant to your business, best suggestion would be to ring them and get a rep out.

  20. His calculations where based on as he said an example, not a complete brake down of costs so the answer to his question should still be option c
