  1. I’m not sure what this news is, apart from old. Ebaymotorspro & Gumtree have been tied up for ages that I’m aware of. To advertise on gumtree used to be exactly the same amount as eBay. If you’re on eBay(motorspro) you’ll only be on gumtree if you pay extra, if not you won’t be on it. Tbh Scumtree is only fit for selling a £30 washing machine or a push bike with a knackered wheel. It is THE place for bottom feeding scum (or, to be fair also just some hard-up people) so I guess if you specialise in scum-mobiles such as Vectras or do a nice line in clocked undeclared write-offs it’s the place for you. Fuck me, when I moved house I decided to advertise a few old household items for peanuts to save me going to the tip, all we’re advert with “COLLECTION ONLY, DO NOT ASK ME TO DELIVER BECAUSE THE ANSWER IS NO”. You can guess the rest, I had nutters wanting me to load-up my car on a cash on delivery service. Some items that were “FREE TO GOOD HOME” attracted the most hopeless idiots I’ve ever had the misfortune of dealing with. In Gumtree world “NO TEXTS” means text at all hours. So, although I wholeheartedly recommend eBaymotorspro I, hand on heart, could not recommend Gumtree unless you wish to deal with total & utter pillocks and enjoy getting your time wasted.
  2. True BUT if someone’s starting a business, needs money but isn’t prepared to back themselves then why should they expect another organisation to back them? That said, I wouldn’t be prepared to do it but that’s why I guess I’ll never be a multi millionaire unless my lottery no.s come good (and they’re a f***ing joke - I’ve not had a three ball £25 for a couple of years )
  3. Run of the mill shite but at run of the mill prices. I must say I’d love to be able to charge southern prices, with £995 & £1295 mentioned for a 17yr old Fabia it’s no wonder I struggle to buy on Dealer Auction Honestly, that car would struggle at £500 up here.
  4. All bought & paid for here. The hatchet man can swing hard & deep but it won’t affect me.
  5. Surely you mean at £995 you would have the phone going with people asking are you barmy? It’s no wonder I get Londoners travelling over 250 miles - I wish I could ask those sort of prices.
  6. So much for progress, I don’t think the old Estelles suffered gearbox problems.
  7. It doesn’t surprise me & there is going to be plenty of buyers remorse next month. It’s just as bad at the block, traders giving clean money for abused shite with no history, marks in every panel & pigsty interiors. I’d rather not buy - I always value battered shite at battered shite money. Those buying are either lax on prep work or working for little.
  8. Haha, no I’ve not had the call yet although I expect my jaundiced views of the secondhand motors game wouldn’t be much use to them big money boys.
  9. Unless you are raping punters on finance then I wouldn’t thank you for one of those, except perhaps £1500-2000 Avensises or Accords. You’re correct about MPV/SUVs etc., the 7 seat versions fly out but yet oddly enough very few seem to need all 7 seats. I think many people like the option to occasionally carry a few people but like the high seating position & the ability to remove a few seats & throw a bike in the back. Each to their own but there’s no contest between a forecourt full of £1999 Inshitnias, Mondogs & Lagunas v. £1999 S-Max, Zafira & Galaxies. In a week one forecourt would of hardly of had a phone call, the other would be stripped empty by keen buyers.
  10. No f***ing chance. I know some lads make a few quid buying at the door but I can’t be arsed because half of the private man (if they’re not plastic traders) are absolute lying bastards. I survive on Dealer Auction, a few from the block (less & less every year) & a smattering of p/xs. My best cars are generally my p/xs because the locals are greedy & short-sighted & they haven’t got the sense to throw 4 tyres, 4 discs & pads, a valet, an MOT & if necessary a clutch at a car.
  11. Tbh the car looks a grand too much to me. Insignias aren’t worth a toss on the secondhand market and are nothing more than a slightly modern Vectra with the same mindset buyers. I think the only people who’d look at them are Vectra or Mondeo owners. Let’s be honest, some with a few miles are down to £1500 at the block - that tells you how attractive they are to retail punters. No offence intended Mr T - I’ve found out the hard way with insignias & will leave them for the time being. Stick to your cheapies, they’re easier & you’ll make a wage on them, a forecourt full of 09 Insignias would give me nightmares.
  12. Nice looking cars but I’ve only seen 2 or 3 on the road yet every Ford dealer seem to have a few on the forecourt trying to sprinkle some fairy dust over the legions of Fiestas. I must say if I wished to piss away my money on new car depreciation then Ford would get my business over the usual German suspects.
  13. Too true, I’ve said this for years. Apart from the occasional Alhambra/Galaxy/Sharan I avoid most German cars as I find they are bloody hard work and the buyers of them are, often, absolute obnoxious bullshitters who’ve bought into the laughable “quality car” advertising, are as fussy as f***, have next to no money, expect a new car and think they’re going to lay down the law. Dealing with horrible greedy 1.9 diesel Passat men, Eastern Europeans on old Skodas or our own greedy big talking “I’m an Audi man” types isn’t for me. Send me a nice Honda or Volvo (70 & 90 ranges only) man any day of the week. Much to my shame I’ve had a few Pug 207s - flew away and all three buyers were nice people.
  14. Yes they are few & far between. A local Ford franchise with a couple of branches trades out locally - however, dealing at the lower end of the market and being in town, rather than country, the locals don’t look after their cars. In fact, the locals run their cars into the ground, so I don’t buy locally.
  15. DSG = Droop Snoot Group. At least 40 year Vauxhall’s don’t suffer gearbox problems unlike fine VAG quality automobiles. Skodas seem to have dive bombed in the secondhand market unless it’s a £1295 04 plate diesel estate banger. All of the later stuff seems to attract little or no attention & God help you if you’ve got an Octavia hatchback.
  16. Big brother is ALWAYS watching you on just about every site nowadays.
  17. Do any cars have cables anymore?? Anyhow get them to drive it, if they can’t replicate the fault then it wouldn’t be getting left at my place “Goodbye Mr. Customer”. Tbh probably riding the clutch or buyer’s remorse.
  18. From memory injectors, fuel pump or turbo (I think a sensor?) are possible culprits. Good luck - it’s possibly scrap.
  19. The days of “resale red” seem long gone. More like 90 day red nowadays. You can shove small cars up your arse, my days are done with them & their horrible greedy buyers. 7 seaters & mid range 4x4s, especially high mileage (so it looks like a lot of flash for not much cash) are good news. I’ve also had a couple of cabriolets that the phone nearly melted over. Historically I only have any success with cabbies in winter, I reckon the summer punters think they’re being ripped off.
  20. I’m interested in the concept of consultancy services. How do Lawgistics save you money? Do you regularly have cases to fight or are you valuing their advice?
  21. You sound like a conspiracy theorist. It’s a large international bank.
  22. Expecting innocent Joe Public to sign some alleged “catch all” form sold by a motor trade consultancy & think you’re going to walk away from your obligations is kidding yourself. Most of us get out of any claims simply because it’s too much hassle for the punter. I suspect if you stand in front of a judge as a gentleman of the motor trade being brought to book by Joe Public, then waving a PDI form that you, or a third party on your behalf, has completed to say your car was tickety boo will count for little. Be upfront, talk straight, don’t promise the earth, don’t let chancers take the piss, deal firmly but fairly, avoid fault prone models of cars, advertise honestly & fully mechanical prepare your stock and you won’t go far wrong.
  23. I suspect long term that won’t cut any ice and you’re almost inviting future claims. Remember the onus would be on you to defend & it would be a struggle to put up a robust defence when your “admin charge” applies to cc transactions. In my opinion it’s not rocket science. If you don’t want to pay the fees only take other payments. There’s no point whinging & trying to wriggle around it. If you don’t want to pay then don’t take ccs, if you see a benefit in accepting ccs then pay.
