You have nothing to concern you then really have you , Buy at prices lower than us , Sell for good money . Just keep buying private sales for £1,500 under and retail then for a good mark up . Stay away from Porsches and the like as it looks like you haemorrhage money on those types and you will be fine . Losing 2k on a Cayenne is suicide in this game

Buy better , sell well . learning that lesson takes a while both ways if i'm honest , I'm 40 years in and a dab hand at both in fact I'm pin sharp , but lessons along way took some remembering , it wont come to you next week or even next year my friend , but when it does your wallet will smile , till then you will run on empty for a while . Just like we all did . Put the work in , have fun learning , it will come as you learn .

Because you should have known the answer to your own question really . Private ; un loved filthy cars , scratches on paint , stained seats , missing bits , bald tyre , wheel scuffs , missing key , short MOT , needs Service , and fumigating . How do i know this , because we get PX cars from privates and i haven't seen a good one in ten years . Dealer ; Polished , prepped inside , seats carpets cleaned , Mats replaced , Serviced , Wheel scrapes repaired , warranted , New MOT , two keys , No obnoxious smells . This Asif is called a JOB and done correctly it provides a great service supplying cars that people can buy and enjoy owning . So moral of this is . Private is a risk and unless your good at mechanics , deep cleaning cars , and traveling the country looking at scrap sold by liars , USE a garage instead . Now that's not cocky is it , just true

best to dream through any thing accounts tell you , they are totally useless at running a business The times accountants have told me i haven't earned anything , your losing money they say , I just think my god your stupid , you have no idea whats in the pipeline coming in as payments . If it was that easy to pick up a few papers and a book and advise how to earn money everyone would be made . They are just able to put everything into HMRC without any effort from me , just leave me alone to earn a profit to pay wages including the accountant's and the HMRC guys too, who both think they know where profits come from but in reality wouldn't be able to survive

my thoughts exactly when I read it . Bit of a down grade job picturing cars after picturing tits for a living Gone from Curvy body work and satin tones to shiny bodies -
Come across one or two that panic Rory , getting close to pay down day on such as Next Gear or having to maintain a target turn if funded by such as a major Finance Firm , they get into a circle of having to turn money over to maintain the level of borrowing at a low % , Vicious circle of stress for no returns , seen one guy just give in and leave the job with it all folding in on him . Pleased we don't play those games

You can buy cars that are VAT qualifying eg bought from new by a VAT registered businesses so VAT was claimed on the new car purchase , When said car is then sold 2/3 years on it still can be VAT qualifying , so another VAT registered business could buy that car or it qualifies for VAT reclaim on export too. BUT if Mr Private who is not VAT registered buys that car when its a used car , then it becomes a Margin VAT sale , Eg the VAT element is within the gross profit from that sale and then the car is no longer ever a VAT qualifying car . If when new that same car was sold to Mr Private who we know is not VAT registered , then that car will never be VAT qualifying at all ever . Is that what you wanted explaining Scooby ?

BCA are planning opening up various sites on the evening sales I have heard via the grapevine , no time scales yet though , Basically its heading towards the shite cars , cheap trade stuff that people want to look round . 90% will remain online sales only .
-
Chatting with a guy from Autotrader yesterday , he said the high price marker cars are getting the most actual interest and sales . Low pricing is not how i see things .

Not a bad crowd the £4/5 ,000 seem quite ordinary , not much expectations , usually a drive to work car or second car group The 2k Crowd make me laugh , expecting a new car for what is effectively push bike money , how very dare you sell that lot a car with used tyres . Takes all sorts and the best bit of Advice as BHM stated , SORT OUT the customers YOU want , Not the other way round or nightmares will follow you .

That's a pretty basic question my friend when starting out . There are a thousand different variables that will give multiple different answers to that question . Online sells , but will depend on which online platform you use for what car and which package of advertising you choose , to what car your selling at what price in which price range of car . Pitches sell cars and walk ons are still a popular variable , but again depends what street , what town , appearance of pitch , reputation of your self . What car is popular round you and your competition. Oh by the way don't sell your spanners you will be needing them to prep cars . or they will yoyo back to you very quickly . All the best .

James had the problem nearly 5 years ago Lisajohn Think hes fixed it now , well hope so anyway

As Rory says All used cars are Margin VAT when sold , Two types of purchase exist when you buy the car from a dealer . 1 Its sold as a margin car so you don't and cant claim VAT on THE PURCHASE. 2 Its VAT Qualifying car you purchased , eg some bought it for business purposes and will show a VAT element on your invoice . You still don't claim VAT Either way you dont claim any VAT and sell the cars as a normal sale . If you get a VAT qualifying car and another business wants to buy it , you can show the VAT element on your invoice to the customer so he can claim it back . That only happens on VAT qualifying stock . NOT Margin Stock Any car can be sold on the Margin system . even VAT Qualifying cars . This is where it is at mostly . So you buy a car for £5,000 , Sell said car for £5,100 = Gross profit of £100 Minus margin VAT at 20% leaves you £83.33 net profit after Margin Vat But you do claim VAT on any service parts , for that car which offsets the Margin VAT . I hope you make a little more than the example of £100 by the way . It does change with VANS as mostly they are sold on commercial basis which attracts a price + VAT when advertised unlike cars . If a van is not commercial eg bought by a none registered VAT customer when new , then it reverts to MARGIN sale as per cars when sold used . Hope that helps .

Moto Novo Blue Motor Finance Close Brothers All do campers , make quick decisions , pay commissions and have a great e click system, I did three deals on sat one with Blue two Moto Novo took 5 mins from start to accept , 5 mins e click and pay out email 30 sec later on each deal . . Brokers are useful too as Rory says . Connected car finance will work campers , they also have their own Lending arm as well . But brokers do take longer to deal . I much prefer the main Finance Companies as speed is my aim . Campers maybe different though and the speed may not be a thing thats top of the list . Close rep or Blue rep usually help out with the FCA application too if you ask them nicely.

haha sure has Frank , i remember living on a posh new housing estate when i was a kid , we all sat on Grumpies wall leaned our bikes on his wall , nicked Flowers out his garden , potatoes up Grumpies Jag Exhausts . he used to go nuts at us lol Then he collapsed in his garden one sat afternoon , we were not upsetting him that day , but was hanging near his house , saw him go down and it was us who raised the alarm and called 999 from a phone box , saved Grumpies life it did , his wife came back found the ambulance on the drive , found out it was us pests that saved him " the ambulance man told her we had called them " We all got £10 reward and was friends ever after with him when he got out of hospital . Was a heart attack we found out later . £10 was a lot of money back then as well , considering there was 8 of us as well . We used to help him sweep his drive of leaves , wash his Jag , mow his lawn , Finished up a nice old guy and taught a lot too . happy days
