  1. Proxy bids are unknown by the auctioneer , They don't know till their system shows proxy out bid , If there is a catalogue change the proxy bid is out altogether and they wont take it .
  2. We had chap who bought a SLK off us two years ago , super thing and we had driven it 70+ miles too so knew it very well , he took it home to Kent 250 miles away and rang us to say the rear diff had gone on way home , Luckily my son was down Kent on Hols so was knocking on his door 15 mins later asking to drive it , The chap was devastated as clearly it was a scam , The surprise he got was worth the call the scamming old git , Nothing wrong with his car at all just after some money
  3. We have two Bulgarians Nick separate people who have become life long friends , Come for servicing from 100 miles away , want everything doing to the cars too . Great people , great customers . Stunning wife I must say
  4. Seen someone make a good car out of two cars then dump the waster down the block , that little oil in gearbox to stop it leaking it was transported via a lorry to local night auction . I actually saw two privates bidding its socks off for this car so i joined and trotted it up another £400 then stood back and watched him buy it at CAP clean + £250 . Paid the fees that did . Was on side of road 4 miles out of auction with a busted gearbox & Over heating with a leaking rad Bargain cars , never know when do you , Auctions not for the faint hearted are they Sold as seen it was too
  5. Customer drives 100 miles after putting a deposit on a 9k car THEN announce after being asked during deposit call that they have bought their PX 170,000 miler semi auto Civic showing me his phone saying its worth £890 Finished up taking £50 for it because i returned the same attitude . If he'd been right with me and told me the truth he would have got £200 for it .
  6. Door handles fall off , front suspension is weak and requires sub frame off to fix , misfires , coil packs , gear linkages . Seats are usually badly marked , Cack is a description I'd use for the little bleeders , They dont sell "period " unless you can nick it . Used to sell loads and pay over book for em then people learned just how bad they are , NOW we pay bottom book minus £600 plus reduction for condition unless the owner is insulted you've paid to much . Still don't earn much by the time you have fixed its problems . It has to be a Lounge and white to even get interest , if its blue, red , green or god help pink , it will make a better garden ornament
  7. No Point em being there in my mind , useless leads never get back to you anyway . Wouldn't pay car guru in bent washers .
  8. Was doing the same thing Dave , Plugging em in for £40 when customer was there , or park it round back and hand certificate out when they got back , Thank you that's £40 and your cars fine . Remember one was a Mk1 escort ,trouble plugging that one in , she wanted it checking as her insurance company wanted £90 to cover it so £40 was good for her and me . Had loads of money while it lasted
  9. Would be a NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO from me on that deal my friend , low oil get rid , px it to a dealer , tell him to sell it private and come back for the Mini . Or tell him grow a pair and have it fixed like he should do
  10. Whoever broke the dip stick caused the non running fault surely as its snapped and fell in the sump , some dork head must have started the engine at a garage , Third party interference in my thinking , sounds like they are trying to pull a fast one at your expense
  11. I think people know S Line more than they do Black edition Nick although it gets less looks it get more serious looks because its an S Line and so you get the searches who are targeting S Line , Black edition lookers are car advert wanderers . Maybe , who knows , I've played at this game and still astonishes me when one search gets results and one doesn't Hope it sells Pal .
  12. How much and miles Lucas , also what colour and model is it , has it got service history ?, I have numerous people asking for these types of cars . You never know
  13. We will be fine leaving the EU . Whole wide world out there just like before we joined the common mkt . Only reason loads of MP's want to derail the process is they have their wallets filled from EU deals we know nothing about . They are all corrupt and we know nothing . If we get the other dope as PM though just Panic and I mean PANIC Imagine Corbyn and Abbott in charge OMG You will want locks on your wallets then
  14. Simple rule in life of car trading Lucas SELL the cars , BURN Rate , Stock turn , and most important PROFIT First car i bought to sell left for a new home within 5 days Lucas , Get them sold because expenses will consume you very quickly , and i mean bloody fast . You are already behind and it takes some catching up , seen it happen lots of times ,
  15. We can recount stories Dave but lucas ain't Sold a car yet
  16. We have a free car guru with our web site . Fuuking useless would be my thoughts . Before Christmas they called , upgrade for free , ok then lets try it . Fuuking useless would be my thoughts yet again . Made no difference , all sold cars went via Auto Trader . I remember some fool getting in touch via the silly email system saying I'd had this car 4 weeks on sale as it tells you on CG and he could offer £6,000 " It was £8,495 " to prevent me from having to pay interest on the bank overdraft , Cheeky bastard . Bet his ears are still bleeding from my reply "dick head "
  17. Friend of ours went with Next Gear stocking ,but this comment can apply to all stocking plans I would imagine . He said it was a drug and it got him in trouble . A guy from a Finance company also told me its a very dangerous practice too and he saw lots of failures because of it . Its how you manage it that's the secret , too many potentially good guys have gone because it got out of control and left them broke or close to it . The guy above told me he lost direction of everything and had to borrow from the bank to sort it , two years of grief , and a large loan later hes still deep over his head . All the companies put it over very well but the hidden costs are quite high when its looked at in detail I've been told Has its uses i suppose but what happens when interest rates go UP is that going to be profits DOWN time or break even , or god help a loss situation . Is stock funding popular now because of low interest rates and will it change the outlook when rates go North , Whatever you do keep a very tight reign on the finances if choosing borrowed money when rates are low . Cant see it staying this way forever and then the Shite hits the fan . Little and often I was taught , slower but safer and loads more lucrative long term , suited me , but we are all different . Just stay safe and in control would be my thoughts . Trouble is the failures will never be posted on a forum will they , only the good news , but the good news guys are probably very good at remaining cool calm and collected with a 100 k of some one else's money and very good at money management , the failed businesses wont say a word about their experiences , cant blame them mind .
  18. Mini cooper S's are great , wonderful little cars Just have to rebuild Engine , Clutches , Gearboxes & turbos or supercharger pulleys on the older ones after that they work for a while
  19. We had a Transit dragged by the AA two years ago , He had been told by the AA guy it was fuel Pump and the cost was £900 , Was the tell tail sign on the dash that diagnosed the problem , NO Diesel Another guy we know had his V8 petrol Land Rover Vouge towed in with a Non Starting problem at Christmas ,Not Starting , Indicators not working , Heated seats , Electric seats , all not working . THE AA twat nearly dismantled it , Under boot floor , Under Bonnet , Under dash , Un plugged every thing , and didn't put it together again , marched in telling my Son what he had to do and what was wrong , and how he had re wired it to try to get it going , Took Three hours to put it back together and all it wanted was a proper sized battery fitting , The AA twats had fitted a much too small battery 1 month previous . Battery fitted and the bloody thing is fine . Only got to watch the AA perform at BCA to know what fools they are
  20. For Gawds sake , settle down and sell some cars my friend before you do anything else , Business is ABOUT SELLING not talking about it . Any fool can talk about it . You haven't found the retail skills to your prospective customer or a sales routine when in front of customer , test drive courses ,and what to say , HOW to CLOSE a DEAL , your niche car types , Phone manner , doubtful your up to speed with the paper work of what to do regarding invoices , valuing px cars , Then you have to keep the flow going . Will take weeks at best possibly months to get it all in place and EVERY customer will be different , Remember the golden rule PROFIT is the key word
  21. That's just made my day I wouldn't have been able to keep a straight face as they towed it away and took him too
  22. Good question Nick I know a girl who works for BCA and she said when online was first launched it was mentioned that its a good idea to add a charge and as it gets used more it will be a billy bonus , " we all fell for it hook line and sinker didn't we " Imagine if we had just £50 extra for our cars it would add up but BCA sell hundreds of thousands online don't they , Millions of £££££££££££££££££ extra since it started
  23. I've never applied Nick maybe i'll stay public
