Been a very good finance month round here for some reason , weird month on that front even the ones who i thought were buying on debit card wanted to spread the cost . . Even sold two cars at 3k with 100% finance all prime as well 75 % of the sales on finance has made this month a record with today were on 37 as of todays 2 so happy days , cant wait for the 1st week in August when the commission hits the bank Cant buy the stock though , but thats another story

Its not illegal to trot to reserve price , Auctioneers are aware of that , BCA have a routine of putting a car through 3 times and if it doesn't make its money it usually sells or goes elsewhere if the bids are to low . But we all know it happens , usually its a piece of junk they cant get bids on though as anything decent will sell anyway . Seen it happen many times , when we have put cars in the block they bounce bids off me , of course then i agree with it . Horses for courses isn't it Remember once we two bloody Yaris PX things back when a Yaris might sell , Both had serious issues and i only gave £50 for one and £75 for the other . Took them both to bits and made one good one sold it for £1,200 Put the scrapper back together and blocked it even let the oil out the gear box it was leaking that much took it on a trailer to BCA and booked it in . Nothing worked on that car and i mean nothing , Two privates start looking so I hugged it as I was there at the sale day . Auctioneer looks at me when it went in and starts bouncing bids off my head , I was next to the privates so starts wagging the catalogue , what should have been scrap money or £200 best went for £975 Bloody quid to mrs private , Think I finished up with £700 + for the biggest bag of shite you've ever seen ,Bet shes never been to an auction again Motto don't fall for shiny shite at auction

That my friend is an important comment , people do treat us as a storage unit sometimes . I have the same clause in our terms /conditions too . I had a guy a while ago who waited two weeks then emailed me to say he was leaving the car till the end of the following month for taxing purposes , Wont save anything was my reply as you will incur storage charges for the month that's equal to the tax fetched it next day

My advice would be to change your stock profile , if its standing still on its own then borrowing money wont help will it ? All it means is you need a faster burn rate of sales , more bites at the cherry pot , more profit per unit , all goes to changing stocking profile as you have to much money tied up in too few cars . Regards Stocking loans ; paying these set ups is expensive in the long run , they make it sound cheap but its not . seen some sound little business go down because of these guys . Know some floating in Heaven but haven't a clue its closing in on them Finance companies will lend stocking money but want reciprocal business , always wondered how that works myself . How does it go if customer wants to pay cash , " er no Mr Customer has to be finance " doesn't work in reality does it . I'm old school though so Know NOTHING , don't listen to me .

Are newer DSG boxes still bad news?
David Horgan replied to tradegirl's topic in General Dealer Chat
7 speed are fine if you know how to look after them . And can FIX them in house or if they need to go elsewhere , Goodbye profit in car . lovely when working , money losers when you get a bad one . -
Call Casper on here , Ghost Buster friend Casper , you can split the commission later
-

Worse ones in my view are the Volvo V70 handbrakes when its a manual box , Now that's just not been thought of at all for a manual box and was obviously designed to accompany the Auto . Wrong place all together

Costa do you know how much they charge . Wife makes real coffee that's delicious at a fraction of the cost

Autosmart is a good all rounder . We are also detail polishers , so don't get me going on polishes , beading water , application methods , time it stays on , how to prep surfaces before waxing or sealing or both or layering or what type and thickness of micro fibre to take it off is best . Then of course there's the inside too . Phew coffee time over , wow your lucky now , i gotta go get on with something

My dear wife buys ours , wouldn't have a clue myself . All this talk of shopping has given me the need for caffeine

Advertise the plates to the public , £20 +vat , we do 10/12 a week from a sign on the wall , takes two mins to do if they have the correct docs . Halfrauds charge £32 . £200 a year to lease the machine is a no brainer , pays for our stock to leave with shiny new plates

Nearly fell off my chair reading that , how very true though

Stops at Dover , great deal well done Tony

Be same in my mind too Return to base at customer expense for warranty claims , Write it on invoice , explain it to them , get them to sign a PDI , and sign to the listed warranty parts covered . Sign against " Customer returns at own expense " The other thing is , if its popular , sell it to someone else cos if their main question is warranty their main thing will be to claim . Our warranty Stops at DOVER , that's what i tell them .

I would be on We buy any van , end of , far as I'm concerned . List like that at 134k for that money and I'm out . He's valuing the DAY VAN bit far to high , those types always think what they have is worth a fortune , , Camper van man near us says Transits don't sell that quick as day vans either . Trying VW money for a Ford I reckon . Expensive for a rock n roll bed But I know nothing about those things I must admit except "I wouldn't want one "

Bimbo Firstly Welcome We have all heard of the computer analytics trying to play a part in car sales . Auto trader have loads of that going on , telling us this that and the other , Web sites telling us when our busy times are , Autotrader telling us what sells in our area and what doesn't sell as fast . My opinion , its a load of tosh , pure and simply a load of rubbish . Just like all the car valuations from whoever you like to mention . CAP is useful for telling you how much you can get on a finance deal and that's about it . Because most finance Companies do 120% of retail and use CAP . The rest is a pure feeling in the fingers of many years experience and a very in depth knowledge of the trade , and a lot of mechanical experience too when buying . All the best Bimbo and I mean that , but don't rely on your computer background to help buy cars , it wont work my friend , EG : every POLO SE you will ever have in stock WILL be different Remember that , its where the feeling in the fingers are needed , One will tap , Another will Knock , one will leak , Another will boil up , one will misfire , one wont turn off , one wont start , and the list goes on , The computer says buy NOW , but the computer wont pay the repair bills
