Even the most experienced buy Lemons, the key is to get out of them asap. Take the loss and move on. When I first started I averaged a loss on 1 in 10, now its more like 1 - 20.... sell it quickly so you can re-invest and concentrate on making more money

Rent a farm, live in luxury and start a cottage industry

James, its personal to you it's what you want. I trade from home retailing about 150 a year selling everything by video. The internet is my forecourt

Knowledge comes with experience, experience takes time.

Seriously, get out of it as quick as you can. Block it, take the loss and get some of your money back, otherwise it'll continue to eat your pocket and confidence. Accepting losses are part of the game, you buy on the block you throw the dice....

What's The Biggest Profit You Have Made on a Car?
Arfur Dealy replied to XFS's topic in General Dealer Chat
The most remembered and the quickest for me was a 530D Sport out of Bridgy, 3k in less that 6 hours (early days of ebay). I thought I was being cheeky but Mr C was after exactly what I had. No messing. -
Run through his workshop for you to pay him, he's already cherry picked, given you the dross and then you have to pay him to fix it.....mmmmm
-
lol, your going to buy his dregs and make a profit. I can see him reeeelllliiinnnng you in.

They can't reject it. They can only reject in the first 30 days if the car is unfit for purpose and they can prove the fault was present when you sold it. Wear n tear is not covered buy the CRA15, don't bend over and be bullied. If the car shows character for its age and mileage that should be expected. Be reasonable and repair what you are only liable to repair....nothing else

Selling cars on a Classified Ad on EBAY
Arfur Dealy replied to DBDlloyds's topic in General Dealer Chat
Hi Dean, it's a lot cheaper if you become an eBay Motors Pro Seller. I'm paying £140 per month for up to 20 adverts at any one time. -
Agreed. First lesson in sales don't advertise a negative.
-
I see it differently, not necessarily rightly though. If you advertise brake down cover as a benefit, surely you are advertising your cars could potentially fail. I wouldn't advertise failure in any way at all.......
-
I agree, he didn't know if he was or wasn't. The thing is though, with such a short wheel-base is there is absolutely no stability..... Would you want your children driving around in a plastic Corgi car that's capable of 80mph ?? I know I certainly wouldn't.

Maybe too much info..... After further thought, if is seals a deal.....

Jim, whats fun about the way they drive ? IMO they are horrid to drive, bouncy, bumpy, uncomfortable with a stupid lethargic gear change that makes you feel like its lost power and going to die on you. Everyone I have had has been a seriously bad driving experience, including the Brabus.
-
Exactly.

how did you get into this game ?
Arfur Dealy replied to have a word with the wife's topic in General Dealer Chat
My first job was a Valeter at 16 at a local garage. When i passed my test at 17 that's 31 years ago I bought a Px (moggy 1000) for £150, cleaned it and sold it within a week for £800. Got the bug Btw, I was on £1.25 an hour £50 a week !!
