  1. Is it just me that thinks "doorsteppers" is a pretty derogatory term ?
  2. Trade-vet I can smell your cynicism. I buy all my stock mainly Manheim Silver online. I treat the cars like a production line. All cars are delivered by Manheim straight to my garage where they are mot'd painted and PDI, then off to the Tescos for a full valet £50 (amazing value). They are then delivered to me where I photo and fully describe in ultra HD video. I couldn't be easier.
  3. If you run a forecourt where the public can walk on and waste your time, then you have made that choice... if walk-in business is a percentage of your sales then you've accepted the above. You are paying extra for the pain and gain. I'm not shy to say I sell all my cars by video, upfront, from home without an expensive forecourt, I don't need a forecourt and sell on average 170-200 cars year. Anyone can sell like I do, all you need to do is do your job properly, install confidence and guarantee accuracy. Trade-vet. To be fair, you do need space to store cars and privacy for collection, I'm fortunate that after 31 years as a full time independent dealer I have both.
  4. That is just just plain f taking the p. It just reminds me why I don't facilitate viewings until I've received an upfront deposit. Confirmed buyers only !
  5. French cars are the worst, I simply don't buy them to retail and only ever give bottom book as a PX. Cheap nasty Primark quality motoring.
  6. Dear Mr third party, I'm afraid I only appoint customers who have called me, discussed the car at length and confirmed it will be their intention to buy on the basis of my description. If your friend wishes to purchase a specific car of mine simply ask him/her to contact me personally. Thank you.
  7. Gumtree attracts the bottom feeders, its for pond life. Beware.
  8. My auctioneers know I very rarely go above CAP average, they know I'm there to buy but will turn my back and move on. When an auctioneer know you can be bid up you are then become their bitch. Just turn your back, walk out, move into the next one.
  9. I buy all my stock via Manheim online or via physical auction. I occasionally buy local private sales but only when I can add significant value. I sell all of my own PX,s. If you want to sell in excess of 150+ cars a year or specialise you'll need to buy from Auction.
  10. No abundancy of fresh stock coming through Manheim.
  11. eBay is the platform for cheaper cars, AT may also give great results but it's all about what works for you.....you won't know until you try. Best of luck
  12. If you are still advertising with AT check to see if your package has changed....
  13. Surely it's the bid price plus buyers premium ( not including the other auction costs) is the purchase price on the margin scheme ?
  14. Of course, you know everything and we us Dealers are all cowboys. Now you've learnt how to sell a car to trade you know everything, clearly we should all prepare our PX trash to retail standard to sell on the block for a loss. Sami, you are in cloud cuckoo land. If you want help and advice try starting with being respectful and polite. Acting like a teenage Troll isn't making you likeable contributor.
  15. Agreed, I'll consider myself sent off.
  16. I'm off on holiday for three weeks so cancelled my AT from this Friday, I do it twice a year Difference this time is, I've decided to take the full on DogsB package sponsored priority etc to start from the 7th next month, my rep says shes not had one cancellation and it should increase my business significantly......we shall see.....
  17. Andy, no easy option out, you could drain all the water out and break the bonnet release ...very unethical but it's been done to me...
  18. Sami, it makes me laughs when I see clear ignorance. I was taught (never assume) because it makes an (ass out of u & me). You don't know me so don't make incorrect assumptions about me.
