and these people are actually allowed to drive????

Tradewise.

Complete waste of money. A simple 50 to 100 mile web search on a comparable car will give you your local market value. Buyers look for ease and convenience. You don't need AT you tell you what it's worth.
-
Alfie, remember this. You are your own business, a finance company should work for you, not the other way around. You earn them considerably more ££££s than what they will pay you. It's a necessary evil, just make sure the cards are stacked fairly.

I can honestly say I've never taken a car to a viewing.

Haven't we all

Trade Vet. I see it very differently. When I talk to the boys at auction with sites, they're always moaning and saying they wished they didn't have the expense and responsibility, the costs, the hassle, in fact they're all looking for cheaper ways out. I certainly don't envy anyone with a site, I believe it's the other way round

Is it just me that thinks "doorsteppers" is a pretty derogatory term ?

BHM....Again, I absolutely agree 100%

Trade-vet I can smell your cynicism. I buy all my stock mainly Manheim Silver online. I treat the cars like a production line. All cars are delivered by Manheim straight to my garage where they are mot'd painted and PDI, then off to the Tescos for a full valet £50 (amazing value). They are then delivered to me where I photo and fully describe in ultra HD video. I couldn't be easier.

If you run a forecourt where the public can walk on and waste your time, then you have made that choice... if walk-in business is a percentage of your sales then you've accepted the above. You are paying extra for the pain and gain. I'm not shy to say I sell all my cars by video, upfront, from home without an expensive forecourt, I don't need a forecourt and sell on average 170-200 cars year. Anyone can sell like I do, all you need to do is do your job properly, install confidence and guarantee accuracy. Trade-vet. To be fair, you do need space to store cars and privacy for collection, I'm fortunate that after 31 years as a full time independent dealer I have both.

That is just just plain f taking the p. It just reminds me why I don't facilitate viewings until I've received an upfront deposit. Confirmed buyers only !

Peugeot 207 whistling noise from engine
Arfur Dealy replied to Beautiful South Martin's topic in General Dealer Chat
French cars are the worst, I simply don't buy them to retail and only ever give bottom book as a PX. Cheap nasty Primark quality motoring. -
Dear Mr third party, I'm afraid I only appoint customers who have called me, discussed the car at length and confirmed it will be their intention to buy on the basis of my description. If your friend wishes to purchase a specific car of mine simply ask him/her to contact me personally. Thank you.

Gumtree attracts the bottom feeders, its for pond life. Beware.

Exactly my point.

My auctioneers know I very rarely go above CAP average, they know I'm there to buy but will turn my back and move on. When an auctioneer know you can be bid up you are then become their bitch. Just turn your back, walk out, move into the next one.
-
I buy all my stock via Manheim online or via physical auction. I occasionally buy local private sales but only when I can add significant value. I sell all of my own PX,s. If you want to sell in excess of 150+ cars a year or specialise you'll need to buy from Auction.

No abundancy of fresh stock coming through Manheim.

eBay is the platform for cheaper cars, AT may also give great results but it's all about what works for you.....you won't know until you try. Best of luck
-
If you are still advertising with AT check to see if your package has changed....

Snap again.

Surely it's the bid price plus buyers premium ( not including the other auction costs) is the purchase price on the margin scheme ?
