  1. I pride myself in offering excellent aftercare service to my customers, and normally bend over backwards to help them, I'm firm but fair. However some buyers, especially on old banger's think they are buying sponsored motoring buy going to a dealer. The CRA is very clear, yes it has to be "fit for purpose" but "wear and tear" is not covered. These buyers just quote it has to be "fit for purpose" and forget about the bit about expected "wear and tear". They are buying an old used machine and their expectations should be befitting. To expect a new car coverage warranty is just ridiculous. I say it again, you don't get gold for the price of silver. Too add, I would of expected my customer to have rung me to discuss the problem like a human being, not gone elsewhere and sent a text making demands.
  2. I see, so when he needs some fuel, tyres, brakes, bulbs, insurance renewal, holiday, we should pay for that as well....(for what it's worth) my opinion is no.
  3. Jim, the customer bought an old used car, they didn't buy a comparative nearly new car like your stock. With respect, you miss the point, its a 10 year old car with 10 year old parts and the customers expectations should be realistic with the expectations of the CRA. When selling older cars, you cannot expect the same coverage and the CRA is very clear disclaiming age mileage use etc. You are comparing chalk and cheese and I am afraid Mr Customer does not get Gold for the price of Silver.
  4. We all help customers who treat us with respect. When they treat us like a PPI claims company, that friendship ends. I would normally agree with Jim & Uemesh's approach. But the customer didn't communicate politely and showed no loyalty to MrC.
  5. I think we are all forgetting this customer didn't bother to contact the MrC initially, he's taken it elsewhere got it scanned and then sent a TEXT demanded a repair. His first communication should have been with MrC.
  6. Disco 3s are very good news Margin wise, and vastly better cars than earlier models. They sell really quickly as well. Try buying a few to make a bigger margin £1500, join BCA and Manheim. I buy from Maheim, at noon and 4pm they upload new stock, I search at these times for BIN cars Silver Check (read the appraisal report) and take a punt.
  7. The car was 7/8 years past any period the manufacturer was prepared to guarantee its quality. To expect new car ownership guarantees for an old used car isn't reasonable. BHM. I wholeheartedly absolutely agree with you
  8. You can't grow a business buying local and privately, far too time consuming.
  9. Dear Mr Customer, you bought an old used car. The fault wasn't present at the time of purchase which you confirmed by signing the comprehensive PDI. Wear and tear is clearly not covered under the CRA. It is your responsibility to take ownership to repair and maintain your car.
  10. Hi Matt I'm around 25, the more cars you have the more you sell, the more money you make, the more you manage your time to make more money.. Example, get all cars delivered, get your workshops, paint & valeters to collect and deliver. Logistics will envelope your time, delegate it out and develop your brand
  11. I took a S6 in as PX, it sold within 48h, got a call the next day from the buyer saying had I left anything in the car, I said no... He then said he found a breitling watch wrapped is a sock under the rear seat worth about 5k ! I rang the guy who PX it, he also knew nothing about it
  12. I absolutely agree with "Straight Talk" and getting the foundations right when Mr Customer is in cloud cuckoo land. They need to be told upfront, explained in writing and signed for (legally) I don't agree with sellers breaking the law and giving the trade a very bad name, and I equally don't agree with anyone who thinks that is an acceptable way to conduct business.
  13. Too add, this is a public forum for anyone to view. If you really are a car dealer YOU are exactly what shames the industry.
  14. BHM, your attitude stinks, it is everything the real trade want to be extinguished from the public perception. Do you really think it is acceptable to mislead, lie, break the law and screw an innocent member of the public. If YOU think that is an acceptable way to treat a customer, let alone another human being you are wholeheartedly wrong. People who do that are not only criminal they are scummy low life's. End of
  15. Absolutely right Tony. The CRA is there to protect us from unreasonable claims, you just need to prep well and cover your yourself. I'm with Lawgistics, they are worth every penny. Cheers Simon
  16. I don't buy french cars, cheap, nasty, poorly made.
  17. Hi, welcome, my advise would be to not bother with warranty companies, you are far better off managing your own warranty booklet scheme, use (lawgistics) they are fantastic. Put away £150 per car into a pot to cover any issues, ok you will be hit occasionally but end the end of the year their should be a nice wedge left for a holiday. The secret is prep well, sell the car on the basis of that prep and cover your ass on everything. Best of luck
  18. The advert is clearly very misleading. The car has to be as described and fit for the purpose intended. It is illegal to sell an unroadworthy vehicle to the public without very clearly explaining in the advert and putting in writing on the invoice that the car is "unroadworthy" & "should not be driven on the road" and must be "transported away". The seller has broken the law, he is asking to be prosecuted by trading standards who would take a very dim view. Take the car back and demand a full refund. Sellers like this give the trade a bad name and should be stopped. Mr_mg name and shame him
  19. Don't do it. Unless you sell it as per the rules of the CRA stating it's a customers car. Cover your self
  20. My local tyre centre charge £20 to remove, why do people take them out of their car ???????
  21. Dr Mr Customer, maintaining your car is your responsibility. The CRA protects the seller from unreasonable claims, wear and tear is not covered. An 8 year old seal breaking is clearly due to age and use. Good day to you.
  22. Auctioneers will bluff the sale, don't believe they are sold.
