  1. One of these old things That's what I was hoping for, any you could recommend?
  2. It's an old mk2 2006. I'll give it a try, but should there be a charge? I hope to tug it out tomorrow if I get the chance
  3. I've got a Focus today no code and the head unit has got to come out. Is it worth trying one of those Ebay places or shall I just go to Ford? Thanks
  4. You're my hero BHM, but have you heard of 'Occam's razor'?
  5. If he owns a nursing home he definately will be 'crawling in it'?
  6. In fairness there are many people that claim DLA and are not scumbags. I can't imagine falling out with BHM, he's one of the stars of this forum! Plus, I had to stick a few guys in my 'ignore' list after the big IMDA 'debate'
  7. DLA is not means tested, it's an 'allowance' not a 'benefit'? Motability scheme would require you to swap your higher rate mobility component for 'a car'. There are many people who need/use their cars to go to work, they don't necessarily live on council estates?
  8. You can't 'force' them to come. Don't get yourself too stressed about times, slowly slowly catchy monkey. As has already been mentioned, if you keep banging on about times you'll come across as a desperate seller. Just my tuppence worth
  9. Agree, tell him you're open at 8.30am and you are off home around 6pm, he can come any time he likes? He's not booking a doctors appointment?
  10. No rips or damage, it will clean up. Even that drivers seat that looks like a horse has sneezed on it. Looks like kids have kicked the shit out of it. Not that it matters, but I wonder why the kiddie seat was fitted behind the driver?
  11. Sounds like any insurance product these days, you have to have it (or pay for it), but it seems you're not supposed to use it?
  12. The problem is that however enthusiastic/competent you are, if you're a one man band you can't be halfway through pulling a gearbox and the phone rings? And it is NOT a good thing to greet customers looking like you work in a scrapyard! A case can be made if/when you need something sorting quickly and you're confident of your diagnosis. My mechanic is efficient and cheap 'but' if I'm waiting for something simple like pads/disc and he's called out on a breakdown it quite frustrating. Or, as recently happened, I'm booked in for a 'belt' and he's still stuck on a BMW with stripped head bolts? Recently, in the last few years I've backed right off of DIY. It's not ability that stops me from working on cars, but my reluctance to spend any more money on specialist tools, which seem to be required for every job.
  13. I stored some import cars on a site like that! It didn't stop the 'pikey's' breaking in and having a free for all!
  14. OP: Don't do it! I buy loads from Manheim, but NEVER buy online and/or without a physical inspection as above! Lots of guys on here buy online (good luck to them), but it is not for the feint hearted or newbies Good luck
  15. I've mentioned a few times about the Polish guy on the corner of my road who regularly repairs cars in his front garden. He usually has a couple for sale. He only deals in newish German stuff. He is off his feet busy at the moment. But, he's tapped into the Polish market uniquely, and I don't think they care about Cat D etc, they buy what they see and as long as its BMW/Mercedes/Audi that's all that matters. Interestingly, in the last few weeks he's started doing breakdown recovery. But, the answer to the OP is, the guys that do salvage seem to price their cars using finger in the wind
  16. "13.Memory/battery backup for off-vehicle data review & analysis" I appreciate you're not the salesman, but how does this feature work in real life?
  17. My 'tuppence', if these are not fitted to a high standard they look bloody awful!
  18. So, basically the same as any other car auction. You buy it as you see it, just remove it as quickly as possible with full payment before hand?
  19. Back in the day, a lot of independent auctions started that way. Also a lot them are not around today!
  20. We have a winner! The really clever part is as I said, it's meaningless. Trade is forced to buy, but cannot use it to 'add value' to a purchase
  21. Agreed. A product that is meaningless in the real world
  22. Yes you're right, apparently the new Ford updated pipes (£146!) now have to have a new union that the pipe fits into (one time fitting). But, I thought I might have gotten away with a few days local driving and keeping it topped up but in torrential rain today the old girl catastrophically failed. Only upside it was outside a really nice bakers so belgian buns and coffee while the man with the truck turns up!
  23. Isn't the union part of the pipe?
