No deal brexit! Houses down 35%,cars up or down??
David Horgan replied to friar's topic in General Dealer Chat
Exactly David , Germany wins if we let that happen , Adopt the bloody EURO currency Drive on Right . See that coming Pay MORE fees , Thats Let every body in for free , Poor man of Europe " while it lasts anyway " Needs getting on with and leave the unelected mess behind , We are independent always have been always will be . Become world traders on our own terms . Before the rest others leave and nick the deals Rubbish , we were on fire , every one that worked was cash rich and buying goods , More than what they have now . I was saving money like it was confetti in the 70's and earning good money from the working people spending it . The unions ruined a lot of it though , they were the nail in the works , Hadn't been for that lot its us that would have took BMW over not the other way round . Germany was on its knees not us , look now its the other way round . Billions of £££££££ have gone to waste sending it to that greedy lot to jack up others who just take it . -
Hes been on one before Max asking weird questions , Who doesn't know they only have an auto driving licence . Bloody nora , just checked mine and it only covers me for STEAM Power Must book a test NOW Can anyone lend me a car too Lol Oh i forgot there's 30 cars outside the office door , Forgot again . So don't need a car MMMMMM they aren't taxed though Can i take a test on trade plates " anyone " Very reasonable price , double if he fails
-
The driving examiner would ask you to sign to say he is covered to be in the car when conducting a test , I wouldn't think renta car insurance would cover that if its in someone elses name on the rent agreement . So have you got insurance cover that would make you legal to drive a rent car , a manual car, and take a test in it . If not the examiner would void the test . What you need is a driving school car really as they have the insurance for the test . If you have insurance cover now it wont cover manuals . Does your cover also include learner drivers ? Small cheapie car , A friend over 21 and insurance for a test seems to be a solution if you cant find a school car .

I think we will leave Scare Stories for weak minds that's all this is . We traded with the entire world before the common mkt , whats wrong with these people who don't have the guts to go alone , we don't fit into Europe anyway do we with the £ and 22 miles of water . If we don't get on with it and leave we will be under orders to adopt the Euro and change our name to Europe slave .com and probably drive on the other side of the road which would stuff us up selling cars with the steering wheel on the wrong side for decades to come Should never have joined the common mkt years ago , The EU has took lots of Brit firms away from these shores and the work forces suffered which affects us too as they have no money to spend , 80% of the foreign work force only look at end of life cars off ebay or get taken to work in a bus , no good for us either way . Brexit has to happen in my mind now we've gone this far and so many have said we are leaving with no 2nd referendum . Imagine the peoples attitude if we don't leave , riot is looming . No body wants Mrs May's job anyway do they . -
The most memorable part ex you ever took?
David Horgan replied to Nick M.K.'s topic in General Dealer Chat
We have a Jimmy for winter use Mark , Bought it from a night Auction on a 51 plate with 12,000 miles on it a few years back now for £500 . They are horrendous to drive except when it snows then it changes personality We have spent a few quid on it though , new wheels and tyres , new suspension , modified 4x4 system , new diff ,Snorkel , modified door seals to keep some water out , goes anywhere off road , but on tarmac you have to watch the steering wheel doesn't knock your teeth out :0 and over 45mph its terrifying but that's only down hill with a good tail wind , Off road though ,wow its amazing seen it in 4ft of water and mud and still going strong we call it the family pet and still under 17,000 miles . Only taxed November to Feb then sits in the garage at my daughters house . -

Most memorable we had was a guy who left us his 03 plate fiesta as a free swapper , said it was scrap so i never looked at it , Did the deal and went to look at Mr Freebie Fiesta . Had it from new , done 27,000 miles in it . Sold it Day after at £1,495 , This chap rings and i thought he was Prince Charles Has one got the Fiesta he says , "yes " I'm on my way . When he turns up hes got £7 k of clothes on , His shoes were 2k and his coat was the same , Out side was 150k Aston Martin . Why do want this I say ? to him laughing . I have the Aston , a Bentley , wife has a AMG Merc and an RS6 avant and when we go shopping the beggars get dents . Costing more in Dent removal than this bloody Fiesta costs , So we are going to drop the seats and park it outside the fecking supermkt door and they can dent it as much as they fecking want He drove off in it smiling like cheshire cat that had got the cream , with his wife saying I'll be back before you darling i think . Made us scream , and he paid cash . -
Yes been to Wolverhampton Mark what a contrast that was .

Walsall BCA makes my blood boil , the place has some of the worst staff at any auction going , , its Horrendous in just about every way imaginable , Staff racing cars , Ignorant Staff , Cafes No good , Parking is Non Existence. Even the times of opening annoy me . Last time I bought one there I got the yard manager to watch it come out the hall and stop it before the driver thrashed it up the car park . Told him if i bought it and he thrashed it he was buying it . When it came down the hill i walked in front of it to the hall .

We would tip all the blacks , whites and grey base paints together to make something that looks mid grey to use on that colour car . Goes with the centres then as well . Car looks good and it uses all the bits of paints up too only costs us £10 for the lacquer then , They are little beggars of a wheel to paint though

Don't go to auction is the answer to that question .

Are you ever HAPPY with your sales figures?
David Horgan replied to Nick M.K.'s topic in General Dealer Chat
Not one to get down on a months figures Its what you do each year when in business , make this deal better than the previous is the goal . Each deal earns money in my world , some more than others and lady luck does play a part in this job I must admit . Take one example ; Buy car £15k and sell make profit with px and bolt ons + commission on finance , take px and prep to sell on at profit plus bolt ons and commission on finance & PX , take px and sell after prep for profit , down the line this goes till you get a £100 chopper and sell out to last of line customers for £500 sometimes its 6-8 cars till its finished Known one deal last 15 cars and finish with a 50cc moped . Another example buy car £15k sell on debit card no bolt ons , no Commission for finance with no chain finishing with £400 profit on a banger . This is in my view how things can change a great month into a medium month as Ex 1 earns £8/9,000 poss £12k , Ex 2 earns maybe £1,800 My MOTTO is chase every £££££££££££ i can get out of them EVERY single time , every customer , learn new tricks every day to increase profits , As my old dad said ; "Lad if its not working its not the job ITS YOU " Get off your arse and make it work and don't let me hear you MOANING "I never moaned Plus , if your happy your NOT pushing for profit and you have met your ceiling , I don't have a ceiling ,as my wife puts it "your never satisfied " She doesn't get drive The old lads are romancers too , they earned pro rota similar money as us , it was hard , stock didn't fall at their feet , customers were just the same . There was great traders , lazy traders and shit traders just like today , traders who earned money and traders who lost it all just like today . November Today we bought 4 and sold 4 + two phone deposits taken for Friday and Sat , took two PX as well , two sales on finance , all upgrade warranties , one paint protection . £1200 in warranty upgrades £299 paint protection + £1400 in finance commissions with Metal profits too on top . . I don't trawl through last weeks / months / years figures chasing rainbows , I watch /learn /think of different approaches , modify techniques , change ideas , Adapt and survive and in my thinking that moves you forward one deal at a time , its where the fun is for me , Deal Deal Deal Profit profit profit , as the happy customer drives away i smile and that's the kick of working . So in answer to Nick , No I'm not happy , But I damn well will be trying to improve tomorrow and that makes me ecstatic . I'm very very old school though , so you young un's can ignore me LOL if you want -
Think we borrowed that one and left it at Notts BCA , might still be there too
-
Always leave the customer something to have a dig at eg a little wheel scuff . When they ask what is going to be done about the wheels because of the scuff , tell them its priced into the deal , BUT I can get it done for you at £100 , amazed how many forget the scuff and its never mentioned again , all because you have put the ball into their court and now they have to decide . BUT some of the others will have it done and with these people it hasn't cost you the £100 , Win WIN .

I've tried working it out too Nick but its like 99% of the time now , Van CAP price at Brighouse on Monday £3200 and it made £3850 funnily enough just 20% over CAP , on sale today at £4695 +VAT Must be a loophole or its as you say a clever move of the additional so Called VAT as a 20% extra mark up , Don't know what happens if you get a VAT reg trader wanting to buy the van though .
-
On this subject I've seen vans go through auction as a private non VAT van and then appear on van trader as Plus VAT ..

Advertising very cheap cars, sub £1500
David Horgan replied to Nick M.K.'s topic in General Dealer Chat
Normal drive away stock ebay jokers are painful pillocks , , just a safety check and oil ,water , tyres , wipers lights , they get told what they are , bring em back if you don't want it in 1 hour and i'll refund you . If they work they never come back , The likes of those buyers are pleased to get a car in my view . Does em a favour as they are cheap runners . Another one left us today , Polo 1.4 03 plate . 95k , some service , one key , Sept MOT 19 £495 , gone in the same day and its raining here too , washed it , checked its brakes , lights and stuff , Gave £100 for it . Got more than that out of the Finance Commission on their newer Fiesta .- 62 replies
