  1. A good jump starter is a must. Clarke 4000 gets my vote. Polisher - I got a cheapo off eBay but invested in good quality heads for it. upholstery cleaner and a wet and dry vac is fine. stick to a basic obd reader unless you plan on fixing, if not, leave it to your mechanic.
  2. Don’t have a system setup, never have. I HPI some part ex’s and pay the £3-£5. Remember, overheads kill most businesses.
  3. Ridiculous and exactly why I hate selling cars to people who aren't an hour or two away max! I had someone from 4 hours away wanting to come the other weekend and put them off until a local could come.
  4. They didn't fill in the logbook? Try googling their phone number, searching their name on facebook etc etc, it works wonders sometimes.
  5. Not nearly enough in my opinion https://www.rooshvforum.com/thread-19857.html
  6. Ain't that the truth! I think you have the right attitude for it though and hope you get some better luck with customers in the near future I think the reality is something no one can teach you and it can take you to the brink of patience sometimes!
  7. Hi, Good news in a way - I remember your opening post re. opening and starting a new business with your husband or partner and after cutting your teeth I'm curious what would you say to people who come on this forum looking to start in this game?
  8. I'd suggest the car had been abused. What kind of miles has it done since you sold it? Selling .4's and 10 bags can rack up the mileage and involves a lot of stop start I'd imagine... saying that 2.0 TDI 170 BHP engines are shite. They just want the money now he's locked up.
  9. You've never made one either so that's not a valid point, sorry.
  10. That is the truth! I used to “know” a Bulgarian girl, she was pretty girl but when she showed me her Facebook friends I felt severely short changed
  11. BULLSHIT. I didn’t need to read any further The insignia is knackered pure and simple.
  12. This. It's not necessarily which model, it's more the whole package. The buyers are very fussy. Is the leather the right colour? Some cars sell better with cream than black, even though I think black looks better. If it's a sovereign does it have piping on the seats? So is it a proper sovereign? Do you know what else a Sovereign should have? Not to mention knowing where to look for rot, listening out for knackered injectors and flywheels on the diesels and where the big petrols like to piss out oil. Service History is a big thing too... As for XF's the 2.7d has a variety of issues, stemming back to the S Type and the 3.0D is mainly DPF issues which blow up the engine if left too long.
  13. Do a few cheaper Jags myself and do well off them. They are very hard to come by in decent nick and you need to know what to look for. Good Jags are hard to find. The buyers are either complete pretentious arseholes or lovely people. No in between. Wouldn’t be my cup of tea 24/7.
  14. Last I heard the House of Lords had asked HMRC to clarify a shit tonne of problems with MTD and insisting, well suggesting, it’s delayed... probably to help their friends out
  15. Can we start a pot up? Everyone with less than 50 posts who needs advice adds to the £50 advice jar and we all go on the slosh at Xmas?
  16. The cambelt was changed that wasn’t misrepresented at all and you made no claim to the quality of the belt, the quality of the fitting or the belt’s longevity. I.e sorry mate, must have been a shit belt.
  17. Wouldn’t be so concerned then. Use that ltd company to pay the rent and use another to buy cars. That way if you need to move sites you can.... well, you can fill in the blanks
  18. Who’s name is the lease going in Ltd company or you personally? Think I know the answer
  19. Seeing the same decline of eBay. A real shame as two years back the cars were easier to buy, simpler to prep and there weren’t as many dealers dipping their toes in cheaper cars... even the big boys have £2-3k cars now! I don’t know what you’re seeing but it’s gotten harder all round for us.
  20. If you do I would add Black Edition into your subtitle where you have the finance contribution part. I don’t see you having too much to lose that way, apart from those specifically looking for Black Edition. The way you’re planning just makes it a nice ‘bonus’ against standard S Line.
