Thanks for the posts It would seem then that 3 months for self warranty seems to be the norm. 3rd party warrantys are not worth the paper there printed on. How do you get on with finance companies do they expect you to stand on a vehicle past the warranty date if the customer complained 4 months down the line say ? I understand some finance firms are getting tough on dealers in regards to the con rights act ?

Hi all Dealer Self appointed warranty's What do you think is the correct length of Warranty to give to a customer on a standard mark up retail vehicle. (excluding part ex & Bangers) ? What is the best compromise to please the customer, the finance company (if on HP) and our Pockets ?? 3 Months, 6 Months or eye watering 12 months ?? just to recap i am focusing on those dealers who offer there own warranties with there own pot, rather than 3 rd party. Also does anyone offer breakdown cover when they are selling one of there warranties? is there a provider out there who offers cheap road side recovery designed for dealers to provide or up sell.

Hi Guys I have a new limited company for the new pitch I am setting up going into the world of Mucky Sub Prime. Now Next week I inform the lovely VAT man of my registration, However I already have vehicles for this new business on its stock book. Now I know my obligations for selling vehicles from Vat registration and the margin I will need to deduct from the sale for any future purchases and sales from that date but, the question is when i sell the vehicles that I purchased before Vat registration do I need to deduct the margin on those cars. I suspect not as they were not eligible for the scheme as they were pre Vat Registration, Would this be correct ?

Completely Feel for you here, I have ran business with limited staff and about to do the same again, we me and my wife running a new lot, wile I also try keep the garage running with the skeleton staff we now have. Yes it can be done, but only short term if you have a lot going on. You need to get things moving quickly and be able to afford more help (staff) when possible. I think it is a lot easier to run 1 business on your own if you have good people offering services. Valet company, Mechanic, Paint Main etc. Sometimes in business you can get that key staff member who can take so much crap of your hands and free you up to do the things you should be doing, Managing your business. My wife had our baby Daughter on the Sunday and was back in work Tuesday night running the office for a big sale we had on when we ran a auction business. That's how bad it got a one point.

Why drive around for hours looking for a car, when in 5 mins on autotrader they can find the exact car and dealer selling it. straight there and find out how easy it is to pinch. The car finance company, car must be 2008 onwards and under 100k. If you type in there name in Google followed by the word dealer page you will find the dealer website also with all the info on joining and how they run. After this point though there is no one left, if your customer cannot be approved with these guys they are a lost cause. Never really used moneybarn, don't they give rubbish LTV lend ? They expect the car at near trade price I was told. There is also moneyway who are subprime, you find they approve a few bits that first response decline, there about the same leval Apr as them. We'll once again the mad rush to buy stock in january has started. Popped down to my local Aston Barclays last week with 10 cars to try and buy, everyone I had bids on but then the madness took over with every car going over book by several hundred, with one doing a grand over book ( Kia pro ceed are good news I've learned) In the end I did get a gem of an insignia on the 09 Sri petrol with 60k in black for £2k as it had some daft loud exhaust on it which put everyone off, a cheap fix for a massive saving on cap clean. I hope the madness stops soon as I need stock, but refuse to pay over my limit I preset. Has anyone been to the block and seeing the same madness I am experiencing ???

The interim permission starts from £100 but most pay £500, the full permission is a few grand but that is not needed for car brokerage. According to there latest figures they are turning around applications between 10 - 30days

Sparky your crazy, a big French car spells disaster. They are lovely to drive but you just know the iceberg is on the horizon. If I buy one, I drive it to the pitch and don't touch or drive it there after, I don't tempt fate.

If you selling a few cars it might be worth getting a FCA licence. It's not difficult to apply and it's only few hundred pounds. If you feel you are lossing customers due to no fiance option available or could gain more sales by offering, then you should get registered.

Right guys who is best for warranty self funded but ran by a third party. In a nut shell I don't have time to deal hands on with any warranty issues. I would rather pay into a pot and get a warranty admin company to deal on my behalf. Who is best and what issues can arrise from dealing with these firms, has anyone had any bad experiences.

Them old fabia's still command decent money in tidy condition. I've done well with old clean fabias, always will have a punt at one down the block.

Hi all and happy 2017 I am strong believer that facebook is the future in regards to selling our metal, I used it to much success in my last business by having a page which was shared and posts which were spread across the groups (Free Advertising) , However i never touched the Paid advertising on Facebook , but I am now thinking of using it to drive sales to my new subprime pitch. My question is has anyone here used the facebook advertising paid section and what results are you getting, at the end of the day if you spent £100 and got one sale I would still say its worth throwing money at. Or is this to optimistic and reality its luck of the draw and there is no consistency in sales it can generate ??? Any views Anyone ???

Similar situation when a car is part ex to a dealer with finance still on it from the customer, Contra-sign In a ideal world you want it cleared and gone but sometimes that not possible, Its not illegal or wrong to sell the car wile the stocking is still on hpi, your obligation is to pay it at the earliest convenience, Ideally when the customer or finance company has paid up. To be honest most customers will not even know, within a few days it will be off anyhow and there not likely to hpi the car after they have bought it, if they have done it before then there already in the know so would of asked surely. You will be surprised how many people do not hpi cars when buying from dealers.
