  1. Accounts are a nightmare What you need is a wife, I have one and find my accounts are done for me on a regular basis. She is not bad looking either which is also a bonus
  2. It sounds like your all on about part time trader polices, I wish my trade insurance was £1400. I have always had combined policy to cover garage, stock, road risk, employers liable, public, business interrupt etc etc I am currently having to set up another trade policy for a new pitch as its a different company name, Its becoming very expensive. Mind you nothing compares to when I had my policy for a car auction, that was eye watering , only 2 firms in the UK ran such policy's so not much competition. Broker was telling me the other day he cannot get a trade policy for less than £850 for part time road risk, and even then it needed to be full NCB, Right area of the country, no points and be lets say an older gentleman.
  3. I assume @Rory RSC that if a screamer calls your office like @Tom was experiencing you just divert them to the Warranty admin team at A1. I have all this to come in the next few weeks when we go live with the new pitch. We do run a in house fund with the bangers we sell at the minute but we rarely have any come backs on that side to be honest. Be interesting to see how different it is when selling cars of greater value, and how customers will act when a problem arises.

  5. Have to agree with the others here, trying to compete with AT is no going to work. Trying to gain a foot whole in the car advertising market is possible but you need a different structure than AT, Example Dealer auction (gone after the dealer trade to trade selling) Gumtree (created a free listing site paid by adverts and premium adds, then when had the visitors moved into accommodating dealers with a cheap package)
  6. Most locking nuts have the outer spinning case, we have just bought a snapon die grinder with tungsten tips, its so small and accurate it nips off the outer spinning section in seconds. Then jst wack the 18ml bergan gear socket on whats left. We are now not afraid of getting locking nuts off in the workshop

They deal with customers who call them to make a claim, they supply dealers (you) with warranty booklets to give out on sale of a vehicle. you deposit money into an account, £80-£125 example, they hold to use as the fund for claims. If a screamer calls them they will asses the legal requirement of the claim as per your warranty terms you agreed and the rights customer has under CRA, They advise you accordingly and you can make a decision on what to do. the point being its saves you a lot of money and time, you will soon build up a pot even after paying out for claims. Only thing I would say is that don't go to deep into warranty term, just because warranty firms offer 12 months etc which sounds great in reality there not worth shovel of sh*t. I am going to do 3 months terms but others may do 6 months. I wouldn't do 12 months self admin warranty as your chaining yourself to them longer than is required and it could then become uneconomical. I am new to this self admin warranty, but am convinced now with some sound advise from @Rory RSC that its the way forward.

  11. Paul there are loads of finance houses out there who will hp on older vehicles , some will even go to 15 years old always worth looking at other firms to have in the tool kit. Sold 3 in 3 days on the bangers pitch 2006 Alto 2004 Ignis, 1 owner from new 15 main agents stamps, 2009 Focus 1.8 Petrol with 103K, not the best engine size or miles but it sold to first punter on it,
  12. Well spotted @GreenGiant interesting article This info can be of use for others but unless it was dealt with in a high / divisional court it does not set Precedent which is a shame. Am sure this ease of rejection from some of finance firms will change with cases like this finding in favour of dealers
  13. I was unsure of self admin warranties but when you look into it, its the only logical way. If i sell 10 cars this month lets say paid £1500-£1800 going to a warranty firm, if something went wrong in month 1, I would bet my best pair of shoes they would not even think of paying out for a genuine claim. so then pay £200 to resolve the claim, Im now £2k down Month 2 I would of just forked out near £4k for 20 cars sold and the warranty company still trying to dodge.
  14. There are a lot of prime lenders out there to choose from, if they are acting unfair a simple name and shame and boycott is the way, the good thing about an open market place is we can choose who we deal with in some cases.
  15. I think your being a little harsh to those who have a genuine concern with finance companies who are not working in the interest of the dealers who supply them work. The point being made is that there should be a proper process for dealing with CRA rejections to finance companies from the customer, Just accepting the customer is right and rejecting the car and asking for the money back is not at all fair for the dealer and even the finance house which seems bizarre to me as they loose the interest on the term of the loan, you would think it would be in there interest to resolve. Finance companies simply rejecting cars on a whim as some posters have stated is silly and just to liberal minded to accept the customer is always right, we know that's normally far from the case. as @andymc1973 stated some precedent needs to be set in the upper court from a pissed of dealer who has been forced to return funds. if this was to happen it would make the finance house think twice and apply the same 'is it fit for purpose' and has the dealer had chance to repair been exhausted before issuing rejection. If Finance houses are being to keen to reject without even having the courtesy of speaking to us dealers we need to name them on this forum with the circumstances, You will soon see them on here trying to defend the stance, With the exception of AT most firms do not like negative posts on forums as its to easy to be found by internet users and other dealers. Image is a lot to these firms and if there acting wrong they need to be called to book. Like wise that goes for finance firms who are dealing with it correctly, always good to praise those who are being fair and helpful in difficult situations.   18. Not the best of situations granted but to be fair there are alot of other subprime lenders out there still. A dealer friend has gone with vt to fill in the gap for the bottom of the ladder. Key think is its not knocked my confidence in the new site and its prospects.
  19. Quiet Here, but have a victim on the MG ZS I took in a couple weeks back. Coming for a test drive tomorrow, The way he is going on you would think he is buying a proper £5k retail car. He will be treated like a king as long as he deals, may even throw in a custard cream & a Brew.
  20. Like this, I just bought a i10 on the 09 with 89k for bargain £700+fee from the block, the catch is it wants £250 worth a paint and a alternator. I have to say the do drive well for a supermini, better than a matiz.
  21. I understand where your coming from wood. I offer my own 3 month warranty but i do not want to commit to 6 months term, I know my responsibility under CRA but I could not stomach the customer coming at me at 5 months and 29 days with a shopping list of issues he/she has cause. I think 3 months is reasonable and after that I just use common sense, But If someone wants a longer warranty I think sticking on a 3rd party warranty is the only option for me
  22. I think VTG still offer black box, intend to give them a call in the coming weeks. also am sure money barn offer a black box system but may be wrong there. Am sure they are going to tap into there client base.
