  1. Its business use only, you can have passengers providing its trade related. How else could you test drive a vehicle with a punter if you could not passenger the vehicle. The issue is when you're using it for social matters. Stopping at a shop for some fags while on way back from the block is actually allowed, you can stop for refreshment and relief (a Piss ) But I think taking the wife and kids out to tesco's for a big shop and then onto nando's is taking it a bit farr
  2. Finally sorted stand alone stock cover for new site, £480 for 100k cover (Nice One)
  3. Bangers are selling still 04 mini one today with a stupid john cooper works body kit fitted, Not my cup of tea but the local Youth loved it (sold within 12 hours of going live) 06 Focus diesel sold and man pending on a old 04 facelift punto that came in cheap last week. Are be glad when the new pitch opens for the dearer metal, With have penciled in the opening for the mayday.
  4. Don't be Daft, Jesus is a left wing green party voter, Have you not seen that beard and sandals , NO NO NO!!! Jesus buys his eggs from waitrose's Giving back to the community and supporting employee ownership, Something that scares me terribly
  5. Am sure there are few who can get it for less than £850 but this is what my local broker was saying, TBH its a lot to do with the margin the broker is charging, My local broker will want more for small policies with not much in it for them unlike Bollingtons who will have thousands of small trader polcies at a modest mark up. The old small margins big numbers game. I remember when i was 20 I got a Part time trade policy full comp with choice quote and it was £780, Most 20 years olds now would give one of their kidneys away for a policy that cheap to drive pretty much any car they like I am loosing my rag with the brokers at the moment, I am trying to sort out a stock cover for another site but they are all trying to sell me another combined policy at £3k, They don't understand that I have a road risk policy and just need a add on for another site but they are not interested, not enough innit for them to quote. I have come across a firm who deals in just stock cover add on so will give them a call tomorrow and get this mess sorted. RENT, RATES,& INSURANCE , My Big Burdens
  6. Agree apparently Chocolate Eggs are very popular this time of the year. Something to do with Jesus
  7. Yes its for faults but it can easily be manipulated. If your not on top of your obligations under the CRA2015 then I suggest you look into it, there are some helpfull discusions and insight on this forum and lawgistics is also one to look into going forward.
  8. Agree Agree Agree, If you want to struggle and have sleepless nights then fine but you're mad to try this. I understand what you are trying to do , Your trying to find a USP over other dealers in your area. As a marketing idear it's fantastic advantage to the customer but not for the dealer as the law is stacked in the consumer's favour and they will use it against you. 5% deposit will not make any difference as the customer can just reject the car within the 30 days anyway if they want to cause issue, and if they want out of a car they will find a way, also you have to return the full amount which would include the holding deposit as you can't affect their statutory rights. In this cut throat market if it was that easy to offer 7 days return then AC, EH, Lookers, etc etc would be doing it. They have offered 48 hour test drives in the past but this is completely different. Great to hear you have been doing ok and moved up a peg, But don't Run before you can walk.
  9. If it was that easy to sort out motor trade insurance using a compare site I would be the first to use you. Am still waiting 3 weeks down the line for brokers to get back to me as some are quoting stupid money
  10. Thanks for the comments guys. Will let you know how we get on over the next few weeks with the opening.
  11. Agree IMO most customers are liars, and none of them can be trusted. Some of the customers around my neck of the woods would swap their kids for a 3 series as long as they could keep the child tax credits.
  12. would like this comment but you know
  13. 79p with unlimited valuations ? do you mean the valuations are extra ? also who is providing the valuations ? @Rory RSC the phone last for a week with no charge, i must of dropped it 100 times and not even a mark to it. iphones are great kit but working in the garage most of time I would be be buying 2-3 screens a month if this app is anygood I will wack it on my tablet, which take work anyway.
  14. I dont have a iphone either, my phone cost £9..9 new from car phone warehouse, it has a torch on top and snake 2. I cannot possibly see what else anyone would need £9.99 I would of edited the post but the edit button is still on vacation with the like button
  15. I think it will have some impact for opening and would go well with the facebook page for look out for a sign etc. I do feel facebook is our main advertising platform ,we have a page for our old business with 8000 followers on, I intend to change that page to the new business and promote. Am sure we will loose some followers who will get annoyed by posts of cars on finance but am sure will gain aswell. In the past we never used facebook paid adds, just the page and groups for advertising as it was free. I do intend to use paid adds on facebook , Be interesting to hear what fellow traders are burning each week on that side and is it worth it ?
  16. I have used mileage correction in the past for vehicles such as the mk2 scenic and Focus which suffer from dash failure. The guy I use was nicknamed Clocker Norris
  17. I hope as my business grows I never have to go to BCA and buy, I would rather buy sold as seen vehicles far cheaper price and try and use my own judgment. I understand why dealers use the services its their to take the hassle and risk out of major prep bills but the service just doesn't work correctly IMO. With the exception of the madness of Jan & Feb my local auctions are cheap IMO, its rare a car makes book price as the buyers are trying to build in a worst case prep bill amount in the head when bidding which drives the price down by few hundred pounds. Although I will admit that BCA have far more vehicles available than my local blocks and numbers do pull crowds
  18. Hi all After much waiting and set backs we are now within spitting distance of opening our new pitch dealing in sub prime vehicles in the next 14 days. Now I do have a plan in regards to platform advertising, Facebook, Google adwords, SEO, Car Guru, Gumtree, Ebay (not AT thankfully) along with some other local advertising. Looking into the advertising I looked into a Billboard which is located in the middle of the town on a busy roundabout, Now its £389 for 2 weeks which does seem a lot however if it generated one sale on the margins we have its worth doing. Has anyone used the billboard advertising before, How have you found it ? does it generate leads and interest or nothing but waste of money as some piss head on a Saturday night pulls the banner down wile on the way to the local kebab shop for a Donner with all the sauces.
  19. I dont use man or bca so don't use the sure check or assured service. I buy a lot from aston barclay who dont run a assured service on general dealer auctions, I find the prices are cheaper compared to bca (comparing with friends who buy out of bca) but the issue is its sold as seen. I guess I have the advantage of having a workshop so if I do buy a shed I can turn it around as cheap as possible, I guess its about having a well oiled machine, if yo have a cheap reliable mechanic and good paint man you can take more risks when buying to get ahead of book prices.
  20. Have to agree, auction was very quiet on the buyers front, managed to get some winners and lots of bids thrown in, not been able to do that for 3 months now. Nothing for few days now on the sales front, however did sell a towing dolly today and have some punters on cheapy punto and lad on a astra estate diesel for test drive monday. holidays are pain on the selling front but just try and make them count when they come view to do a deal. However on the workshop front its madness, already booked up until Thursday for work, few more mots be nice though they have gone quiet in last month or so.
  21. I cant see a future for online only auctions for bca / man , it only takes one of the big players not to play ball and they have a unique marketing point. am sure they would love to have smaller sites and buildings in the middle of no where with cheap rates and low staff costs but reality it is not going to happen. it only takes a split in customers who want to attend and the online punters and you need to accommodate both or take a massive gamble.
  22. Bangers selling well, did dip the last 2 weeks but has returned strong so far in april, nice surprise today on a chop car sent to the block, 04 megane with 100k on it, looked very very clean but i don't dance with death and a old shape megane is death. Anyhow did £550 apparently two private punters were fighting to the death, not bad for £120 allowed on it, I thought if it made £200 i would come out even but hay ho. Phone line went in today for the new pitch, bt open reach turning up to the appointment when they said, Shock !!! role on 17th april, or maybe 18th so much to do, real hill to climb
