  1. Yeah dropped off totally last week, but picked up 1 Saturday, 2 Sunday & 2 Monday so sat on 17 right now, 20 a month seems to be my share at the minute (this will be 3rd month in a row if we end up on 20).
  2. Thinking of bringing a couple of these into stock, going to look to have a couple in at all times. Anything to look out for ? Are they as popular as they seem? Does it matter if you get the 2wd Qashqai is better to hold out for 4wd? Engine? Trim? Any advice at all? Thanks.
  3. Had first serious customer on said car an hour ago. I actually only got it in today so not done proper pictures or anything so that's a good start. Offered to do cambelt as part of service for him. All good except Parkers told him not to pay more than 5k and autotrader £4875. I went at £6190, he's gone away to have a little think. TBF he was a serious guy not a mess about merchant. Also wanted petrol over diesel. These 'guides' really don't help. I told him to go on Autotrader, search V70s up to 8yo and up to 60k and see who is the cheapest in the country (mine). We'll see.
  4. I used to stock Pinins quite regularly in the winter months and they always flew out the door quickly, mainly because they are right in most peoples budgets. Never had one back under warranty but always stuck to petrol and sub 80k with good/full history.
  5. Well they are mostly diesel, historically I have never struggled with either diesel or petrol, however if you search up to 8 years up to 60k then really there is nothing south of 7k although 90% are diesel.
  6. Picked up a 2007 V70, 2.4 Sport Special Edition Auto Petrol, 55k, 6 Service Stamps, Heated Black Leather, Blind Spot Info System, Mint on the body and drives fine. 1 Private Owner and Arnold Clark £500 tax bracket (negative) Wheels need refurbing which I'm doing today. What do you retail that at? I saw it as £5,990 - £6,390 which is where I will go, just a few of the 'guides' are saying around the £4,800 mark ???
  7. You could always stick them through auction yourself if you don't want to deal with them providing you have given the right money. But personally I agree with the two above, part exchanges can make some good deals become very sweet indeed.
  8. not till they are all out of warranty lol
  9. Great day today - three enquiries, three customers turn up and three sales lovely when it goes like that - Monday has been my best day too now for last few months
  10. Good start for me, on 5 with 2 coming this morning Both Mazda 6 2.5 (one SL one Sport) - never have those round for long.
  11. I'd definitely recommend going top a broker, even if you don't go down that route at least you can rule out it wouldn't have been a better price. We were getting all manner of crazy prices one year, found a good broker and ended up paying about 3k instead of £4.5k (all in with public liability and stock insurance).
  12. Good start to the week. Picked up two good bits of stock this morning (2008 Mazda 6 2.5 Sport with 43k in black FDSH and a nice 2004 Merc C Class 1.8 K AvantGarde SE with 70k on it again FSH) Both look to have a good four figures profits, and then had a customer waiting for me here at 10.30, easiest deal in the world on a C4 1.6 SX I had in on Monday. Hope it carries on like this
  13. Worry about making any money before you think about tax lol. TBH from set up to the first time you will be due to pay any corporation tax will be about 2 years, IF you make any money
  14. Because it's worked backwards effectively, on every £1,000 margin you will pay £166.67 VAT Which is effectively £833.33 + VAT ie 833.33x1.2=1000.
  15. VAT on £2000 profit works out at £333.33, not £400. Every little helps.
  16. Do not worry, when the $$$ hits the bank let the car out of the door, whats the problem
  17. I have always done well opening between Boxing Day and NYE, always turned over 5-6 cars in that small period even with very limited opening hours, say 12-2 or something.
  18. Prep then sell is better for fast turnover when they sell and also so you can tweak margins on certain cars. But, one thing I have always found is that if you prep it 100% i.e. MOT, Service and all marks removed this can work against you as some customers just want stuff thrown in and won't deal until they get something on top. This is where sometimes if you haven't MOT'd and serviced you can manoeuvre the deal so it appears you are 'throwing it in' but in reality you would have done it anyway.
  19. Was just thinking about this again this morning and what some people have said about MOT's and not selling cars with advisories on them as this 'proves the fault is there at sale' - a viewpoint I can fully understand. But surely this also proves that the customer has been made aware of this apparent fault/wear and tear prior to sale? Ie it's there in black and white, similar to a PDI that notes an issue or piece of wear and tear. Really find this law rather vague.
  20. Mondeo 2.0 TDCi for me, the bigger spec the better, and seem to be reliable with nice margins in them.
  21. i'd be so frustrated if I was this guy https://explore.autotrader.co.uk/forums/forums/topic/thanks-autotrader-great-sarcastic-tone/ I've been warning them of these scenarios for years but they don't care a jot.
  22. Definitely, not had a blank day in the last week.
  23. If you deliver it to them and get them to inspect it before purchasing does that then negate the distance selling bit. My thoughts on that would be make them pay £150-£200 up front for delivery and that is lost whatever. Then get them to expect the car as they would in the showroom and pay via bank transfer there and then in happy. Can't see whys thats any different to normal?
