  1. Remember back in the day driving to the local town centre at 530am to get autotrader, the newsagent opened early for workers at a powerstation nearby, papers (autotrader) were delivered around 5am... then look through for motors to ring about.. How a few clicks on the web from you iphone in bed has changed all of that.. Still chuffed to end any day having learned something..
  2. Found an alloy I'd like to tidy the edge up on this morning, its been kerbed/potholed badly... Rather than a small job getting an alloy refurb (other three are nice), anyone use any small sanding tools to clean the high sports off before touching in? Thanks.
  3. I'd say its a good 2-3 years before it all comes together, however as the market place changes from traditional pitch sales to media based interest/shoppers.. that is where the next learning curve will be.. Likes of AT - ebay motors etc are all stuff loads of effort into the process.. I'd guess with that kind of investment, its not going away anytime soon. As with any business, cant really stand still too long

    PD

Plenty of sound advice there, all of it.
  5. So true on the race to the bottom term, "price match" offered by some online market places appears to be their preferred way to go (copying others).. for traders its utter bollocks as it in no way takes into account spec or rarity of a vehicle.. Traders really should be able to choose how their stock it marketed on such places; but I'm not holding my breath, price match maybe here to stay.
  6. Jesus, I'm out getting some tyres on the newbie to the family and using a little cutting compound and everyone else has been having "keyboard time".. I dunno where you get the time or energy... As above the kettle has boiled and I am tackling my list of interested lots...
  7. Totally hear you Rory! Pants most of them and they need sorting.. naming and shaming will get part of the message over to these goons; until improvements are noted, less will be bought online.... dont care how big someone says their balls are, youre playing with profits.. Had a payout recently on an assured report of £900, it took around 6 weeks from notification to cheque in my hand, but they really could not have been better.. that motor gave me back £1500 when it left last week, only 20days on sale a total of 45 days from purchase. It was grade 4 but they didnt report ALL the defects... So I would hazard a guess that the payout to me will need explaining to someone further up the food chain... I put £400 into it, front bumper respray and new battery, rest was elbow grease. Morning Arfur, I was really referring to sourcing of stock.. takes balls to buy online - unseen with sh*te condition reports the most the WWW is a dark dark place!
  8. it would be good if "just a few" in the political arena had some business experience or acumen! As we all know it is worth its weight to our customers, chiefly so they know we know what we are talking about.. Then they are happy to let us give them a good deal... Pre leave vote, all UK politicians blamed the EU and Brussels for problems we faced in the UK.. Brussels decision/EU wide regulations.. This is utter bollocks, a cop out and these goons need clearing out, I heard on radio today each MP has 5-10 "special advisors" on salary to help them understand how to deliver their job... Its a bloody shame we cant go to companies house and get a set of accounts to see just how UK Plc is run. One hangover from the whole EU debate is that the UK population never voted or were asked to give up laws/sovereignty/control of borders.. the UK voted to join a common market, a common trading block, end of. The real negative of the vote to leave is found here IMO; politicians not following instructions or asking for guidance from the people of the UK.. the country has been allowed to sleep walk into this mess by subsequent spineless governments (all now retired on gold plated pensions)... I'd guess the vote leave is a kick back at this and being consumed by a bureaucratic nightmare.. a vote by those old enough to remember the promises made when joining. Controlled migration is fine if the folks arriving in the UK do so to come and work and make a better life for themselves.. That way the UK, all of us, benefit.. having a migration quota forced on us to absorb any kind of migrant is unacceptable (we cant afford it), it is also a tad inhumane not to help; but really it could be easy.. if you want to come, INTEGRATE! I have yet to hear of one major benefit to remaining in the EU and tipping cash down the collective drains in Brussels / Strasbourg weekly; we need to see the average UK "gender neutral individual" with good job opportunities, not service industry work. Good wages mean people can aspire to moving up the job/housing ladder.. With this will come more disposable income, with this will come a boost to sales.. hopefully car sales... I heard Land Rover is starting a three day week in Birmingham until Xmas.. Amazing how all these announcements hit the media one after the other, its like some crap script in a poorly managed soap opera.. Best do my shopping list for tomorrow..
  9. I'd tend to agree, the comments here last week about getting along to the auction to see them in the flesh does pay dividends! Nicked three last Friday of which two had reports of damaged paint/poor repair; it was utter tosh! Must have put off the online bidders and it was only evident to those who could run an eye over them what was on offer.. Two less than CAP below, the other at CAP average.. good wedge to come back across all of them. I'm puzzled at the BIN offers, when researching the prices I do feel they must have come from some monkey dust user with pointy shoes.. Although I do tend to think ultimately this online buying market is the future.. Best to embrace it??
  10. a wonderful economy with words, can only second it! plus VW buyers can be funny types; so you dont really want to be encouraging another generation of them!
  11. Excellent result here, echo the comments of the others here! Well done, hope you carry on with it. lesson one never trust a billy and their version of events. lesson two get the facts straight ASAP lesson three get the bully put right and move on; no further contact with the cretin
  12. I'll only be showin theee my tractoorr if thee sends me a deposit, simples.. TGIF (almost), thirsty Thursday will do
  13. Priceless... As we hear most of the time about these "cowboys".. They nailed my mother in law two weeks back, she wouldn't wait for us to go over a visit the next weekend.. Car had been Mot'd, passed with advisory on one tyre.. So she decided to get busy (i.e. bored), four tyres, discs and pads allround.. then tells me the Mot station should not have let he drive that way, been told car was lethal! Thinking about, giving family the benefit of experience is not always going to work! It may not be received with the spirit is given.. Meanwhile these high street goons rip off punters, in this case an 82 yr old widow!
  14. Grand Dave, bloody blow torch, easy start on tyres and liberal splash on copper slip on the washer after smartening up them chink nuts, bolts and washers.... just gets better the further north you go do my pdi’s Anytime... swoon
  15. Bunting and Balloons to match your logo on number plates then, good luck with it.. and get some epoxy paint on your Santa wish list...
  16. Sounds, rubber stamp your nervousness with a solid business proposal over a spreadsheet.. if the numbers are working, may the force be with you.. .
  17. love the whole baseball bat in the truck of the Merc routine, if reasoning dont work, visit the trunk.. even his Mrs did it!
  18. Can I ask do you use Tetexpress since the demise of maccess? Thnx
  19. Result, be some decent free PR in that for you too I'd say.
  20. Those were indeed the days...
  21. Agreed, I'd think part ex price plus a light kick/re stocking fee! (i.e. fair useage charge).. I'd assume you are wanting to keep up good relations, help perhaps this billy in coming back in future and spreading the good word.. Free advertising and all that.. Crap advertising you cant finance, it pays for itself!
  22. Grand, thanks for reply, will order some off ebay.. Ta
