Tend to agree with being trotted up on proxy bids, sat in the hall a few times an watched the bids bounce off the wall without the auctioneer looking up (his screen showed a proxy) then he looks up only to see a bidder waving (not me I might add!).. and bidding returned into the hall and the proxy.. crafty arseholes is the only description of auctioneers that appears in a dictionary.. certainly the one I have here.. Was mention of BCA Preston some time ago on here, wasnt too postivie, but hey.. I'm sure we can all say that about the local block we have..

Knew an ex rozzer a few years back; he was long term sick doing cash in hand decorating/car servicing while waiting to be pensioned off.. You will get the picture from that... One of his favourite tales was how there was always a rush when he was "in work" to respond to calls of people not responding at residential address; where they had to force entry... This tale I heard in the early 90's.. the door would be kicked in and depending on the circumstances.. any loose items/valuables (cash) removed if the occupier was deceased. I'm sure it isnt the same with all rozzers, in the very least I would hope not! I was stunned to even be in earshot of such a story... not all surprised by the experiences highlighted above though... Incidentally, the rozzer I speak of did get pensioned off and lump sum mid 90's; this cleared the mortgage and he moved to Spain on full pension at 49...

Remember staying in Glencoe and being told "it depends which Lamont ya wont" .. lots of them in the valleys as it turn out.. Think the whole issue with interlopers began when Ring of Bright Water - the movie after the book, kick in... quite a while back; but it became an aim of a lot of suvvverners to retire there... Youre description of em made me smirk and think of this the other day. I just like saying SPLEEN Bridge in the right accent.... I'm after a front bumper respray on an XC60.. my man is booked thru August.. Jayzuz.. and it needs to be nice.. so cant hawk it round anywhere else.. good bloody suppliers.. not enough of them!

As a retailer, you just try and reply with the same amount of apathy/cheek/lip call it what you like and the abuse/victim hood will come straight will come back ten fold! As you say, the new normal.. and this all made possible by WWW.. gawd bless it.. That will be because youre a trader Nick; serious, not arsing about and getting on with making it work.. you seller appreciated that, as you did with the purchase solving your problem.. its how it used to be/should be... Lets not get me on the back of the chair shouting about how times are a changing... Cant beat the WWW for solving some problems, its the... You forgot the kiss kiss kiss after every message, then when it isnt what they want (didnt read a fkn advert) they kick off and are abusive - the new normal.. Billy due at 1030 with the reddies, so I'm off.

Agree, Same would be the case for ebay then, as they never get to know the sale price unless its an auction.... Speaking of which, this means auction houses (BCA et el) sales price data would be forth a mint to us.. they already shift between different auction houses where they know they will fetch better money.. a batch from Northern Ireland came through today, ran out the door at at CAP clean ++ Jayzuz Saw a mini at the block today, it sold for £5.7k with the tip, just had a look for later in the weekn and the same mini is now on a buy it now with BCA for £6k excluding fees.. These guys must be rigging it.... shock horror

Would anyone agree the AT algorithms is probably tweaked to give valuations dependent on location too? It'll know your location and it'll draw on prices in that area for similar vehicles for sale/days on sale.. I'm pretty sure they can get it to study any variety of data it is given.. Its knowing just how much data and what details AT capture.. that info is probably worth more than their business premises put together!! Imagine if their computer knew a particular make/model was sticking in on region, the could boost sales (force-ably) by reducing the prices it gives in private/retail sales prices.. The AT data has to be worth a lot more than CAP/Glasses these days.. AT is driven by live / current data of whats on sale, being valued and being taken off sale (sold).. CAP and Glasses can only buy this data in..

Auctions...how much do they charge big vendors
Area 51 replied to trade vet's topic in General Dealer Chat
Probably right, always wondered where the prices come from in the hall (starting bids that is) most seem to be CAP clean, even for some real tut.. then they get a bid, £2k lower, the auctioneers face says it all, they know youre looking at them as they (in even trying at CAP clean) are taking the proverbial... Something must be working, looking at the last Q profits! If they are doing this, then the others must be forcing them too or the other way around.. -
+1 great amount of help and detail.. All the best with it
-
Good idea, be nice if we could set up some indi contacts/suppliers via here to help all out from time to time!:)

+1 Sometimes, somethings can not be unseen!.. moving on

Is this a wind up? The WWW has challenged most (sorry, all) businesses, check out the high streets! Retailing vehicles lends itself to the web nicely is my view, so make the most of it. Although having looked over website; I now have some of my morning cuppa on the PC screen after looking at that V50! Just what is going on there? -7 outside according to the display, why mats in the back and filthy boots on the grey carpet.? Lets not get onto the grey leather... is this OP even working at this pitch or letting someone run it for them? Lets hope they get up soon and read these comments and reply..

Can we start chasing billy down the road if the tip isnt big enough?? I have heard of that a few times from across the water!!

Dealership has accident in customers car
Area 51 replied to Frankieola's topic in General Dealer Chat
PAS125 body shop end of.... same vehicle or better whilst this one is off the road.. Assessor checked repairs on return! Only way to CYA for when its sold or returned if lease/contract; very least his insurers need to be fully aware. Just an observation here, where isnt the third party who rear ended involved in the process? they are at fault there and the loss will be met by them.. Is the garage offering to repair going to charge the third party inflated repairs and make a buck from this + costs of replacement vehicle..? With a RR off the road, few bob daily here to be made! Lets not forget the whippy claim (referral) for the driver... Dont this question is really about the repairs, more about who has the most to gain from the incident! Lets see the pictures.... CCTV and VAR on the collision.. 4k images, scratch n sniff, walk around video and all that -
Very useful this information, thanks all for adding your experience and thoughts! Appreciated

Didnt this chap mention brakes were dodgy? if so, duty of care to investigate is foremost here for a trader = any trader.... Perhaps clarify what he is doing and remind him then of your offer to rectify/return etc and get it all in writing he is walking away.. months down the line I fail to see what else you could have done he is gets legal about it all... Sure more forum members here will have more relevant advice.. if youre into Lawgistics, then get them to rubber stamp your best next move.
