I have one close by, its next to the canal, countryside walks etc.. I have always wondered what kind of water rates overhead they have as they dont appear to use any water tanks.. they are adjacent to a Shell station so I would guess the drains a ok for waste at this place..... Another one in the other direction is near the exit for Tesco, tatty old warehouse, once again - next to a river, this one is always busy.. even though Tesco offer their own wash/valet in the car park for lazy shoppers.. Both are staffed by many with a very poor command of the native tongue..

I can only agree... I am just waiting for them to announce that property values for council tax banding should be reassessed.... I suspect they have been wanting to do this for years as its a guaranteed increased income that's going to be above inflation.. I dont think they have been done for years... since the economy tanked, I dont think any one of them has had the bottle to mention this "cash generator"....

I'd agree, my county (Cheshire) charges as much as possible all day for parking, even with empty shops.. cross the border to Staffordshire and the council have free parking after 1530 to encourage Mums to call in for a pick/quick shop after school... now I didnt know this.. a native of the county stopped my paying for a ticket as I parked up around 1600 one day.. I was surprised, but since then.. when in the county.. I notice on the whole the smaller shopping areas are doing better.. Rates and milking all the can, the councils just want cash to spend.. never seems to be wisely spent either or with a decent cost vs benefit analysis run across it.... Pet hobby horse of mine.. so best get back on thread and away from local council activites or lack of.. and best not mention POT HOLES.. I can be found on top of the rear of the sofa shouting at the TV over these...

Its not often headlined, however I do notice from time to time (the media) mention UK employment is predominately made up of a work force where 70% of employment is found in the "service sector".. I'm sure we all know examples of good salaries in this sector or know folks in it; but the service sector may go from Solictors to shop workers.. Its worrying to read above that "professionals" are no longer earning the wages one may associate with that career (solicitors/investment needed to get there)... and with the high street failing across the UK.. just where is all the money going to come from if so many work in a lower wage service sector..? Reading this thread it cements my own thoughts about shopping online and failing town centres! I wont go on about car park charges in town centres with no shops or stock!! Worrying indeed and I do hate how they (the media / government) have hijacked the word "apprentice" and tagged into any role, usually at a pathetic rate of pay! it used to be associated with good training usually on a career for life! Change times..

Agreed... Same problem Boeing had with the new 787, these same batteries are used for A/c systems back up, they carry the Lipo batteries in their aft hold, from time to time they do ignite with abuse.. going to flat and over charging etc... As with any "fuel source" care is needed when handling.. I'd hazard a guess stabbing a fuel line with a sharp knife under the bonnet of a car with a hot engine would have the same effect as this video... All my batteries are kept in an old AMMO box.. My lipo battery set up has jump started many a car, neighbours in the snow etc.. Just connect to their jump leads, carried it over in my pocket!! Its no a heavy duty solution.. but will keep you mobile and get you home!

There is an option to use a Lipo 14.8v battery, this is around the size of a SKY type remote controller.. therefore smaller to use/carry to the block etc. Here is an example of the the battery https://www.amazon.co.uk/FLOUREON-5500mAh-Battery-Truggy-Helicopter/dp/B074Y32S81/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1524482110&sr=8-5&keywords=4s+lipo I have a few of these due to my hobbies; therefore older ones have been pressed into use and work a treat! I just use a smaller set of jump leads and connect them to the Lipo battery terminals and then to the car in need of a boost; the Lipo battery will retain a charge for quite a time.. months and is available in different capacities. It certainly works to get a vehicle with a dead battery running/get you home or peace of mind when collecting something. These Lipo batteries also come in 11.1v, and these too will turn start a car without any effort; however choosing the 14.8v will ensure the power is in the battery to crank a bigger motor.. especially on colder days... I keep one with my trade plates...

There is a business out there called SHIPLY.com, https://www.shiply.com/ I have used them around 20 times for varying items; heavy (100kgs) to delicate and large, and they have proved really good.. Your local courier businesses sign up and when you advertise you item and its collection/delivery point, the quotes come back for the route you request.. all are insured and usually capable of moving awkward loads.. e.g your gearbox... You dont need to choose the cheapest, just the one that understands what you need moving and the importance of it..

Area 51 replied to rich89's topic in General Dealer Chat
Morning all, anyone watching BCA live today? Unable to make it in person so was looking for some final bids/sold or provisional etc. They are not always so helpful on the phone, thanks in advance. Rob
