  1. Grand for all of us to read about I would say, well done for hanging in there and taking a punt on this; going back to the opening post it was heading to the block this one with no second thoughts.. suspect it may become the best one of 2018 (so far!) Plenty of decent stuff at the block this morning
  2. I'd say best result here, youre back in charge and can sort matters as you wish to recover the situation and this goat herder of a billy is best off out of sight.. Make sure the engine and ancillaries all get the attention they need, smoke it for four weeks and sell it again with confidence.. it will find a new owner and you will have peace of mind once its gone (even better if it can wipe its nose on the costs to you!) Some excellent advice passed on here; maybe help you stay in the business too.. Good(ish) outcome from a grim outlook.. .. ahh cue comments..
  3. Gents, May I ask which G3 products you prefer for scratch repair/overall prep - paintwork improvement? scratch removal/prep/final finish; been thinking of giving it a try however once you get on the website I lose interest at the variety available..
  4. Your approach and opening line to this billy is crucial and going to set the whole tone for how this matter progresses and concludes; at this time from the comments you have made about the billy, he is attempting to control this issue.. As the retailer, you need to make it clear how things will done/rectification and conclusion.. if it gets ugly, this is the very minimum any "independent party" will assess has been done properly.. As EPV has said, this is some sh*t sandwich, but not everyone has to taste it..its all about being fair and reasonable, something I think the 5 pages on here now have all aimed to state/guide on.. buy back suggests something totally different to refund, not in our eyes as we know where youre at in trying to rectify / defend your position.. its how others perceive it.. the billy and his bar room advisors..
  5. happy time chenqui Good lad, where would we be without the tinterweb?; I want to hear you have epoxied the dance floor out there and got some locals interested in an audi estate for distributing the inflatables and cocktails.. ENJOY
  6. Please no photos of your feet/sand/surf etc.. or man thong with cocktail umbrella and a roll of PDI's sticking out..... just a thought... for safety I wouldn't tell anyone your away, business not attended! some utter arseholes out there.. many of them billies, but others... Have good break.... there will be loads of bargains at the block this next two weeks, loads of them
  7. I agree, but this nanker has probably been towing a caravan and horse trailer etc with it. I'd guess if you repair this, it will be something else in 4 weeks time.. as its across the water you have no chance of assessing if the vehicle is being misused.. I cheap Ryanair day return to see it could be in order..
  8. In "IRELAND".. that's certainly a new twist... G'luck with that; they run vehicles on vegetable oil over there (used) from Abrakebabra (you did say white smoke - right?)... as for a BMW specialist, that'll be the local indi toyota/John Deere man then.... Different laws in Ireland too, so god only knows how you'd manage the CRA/returns process on this one.. if your digging in/lawyering up; it'll need to be someone with International law experience.. as I doubt a "foreigner" could bring a cost effect civil action in the UK! But I aint a lawyer.. but I have lived and run motors in Ireland; and rather like their women, they dont seem to know how to treat them! Assuming the cost of getting it back to you will be down to your man in Ireland too.. goooner expensive to repatriate this one to some garage you can "trust"!
  9. Following with interest as most here I'd reckon, however this comment seems to be about right in my view; I reckon a court would rely on a test of what is fair and reasonable. is it either of these that motor croaked after just eight weeks, can't prove billy is wanker with heavy right foot... I say refund, less usage, go in the corner and swear a bit, get it repaired and move on..
  10. Exactly that, if they ask they shall receive.. no need to assist this couple any further if they decided to pull the vehicle to bits with the use of an "expert".... Just be ready to hand it over and see them off the premises again.. Unless you have a bloody internet feedback system, then of course doff your cap and try again to offload the deposit, for this vehicle was obviously not one for them! Now then, dont get me wrong, I'm not one for bowing to the whim of each and every customer; they have opinions and every arsehole has one.. its about moving one and doing business; keeping the mither and stress to minimum levels.. so get the cash back whenever possible; let them know it sold for more two hours after they lobbed their teddy out the pram and move on.. Snowflakes in summer, jeeeze
  11. I'd agree.. however it may really open up the market to others to provide a better route to market for disposal of vehicles, there are so many of them to get rid of.. so I'd guess it will be upto us to shop about instead of "relying" on any one auction avenue.. It does seem a lot are getting into the middle man position to skim the profit traditionally earned by the independant dealers.... evidence of this maybe the supply drying up at traditional auction houses/stooopid prices achieved.. Only so far these larger business can go to shaft the traditional traders.. maybe the offering will be good for independants.. I know, but its Friday and I'm trying to be positive.. POET's day, yard arm and sun etc..
  12. Interesting; qoute.. "However, we know that we will have an even better chance of disrupting the market by partnering with an established player which knows this particular industry intimately. " Blimin eck.. should shake a few feathers at BCA, even more competition for our business ! Is that a good or bad thing ? or is it more of these types trying to make a cut up stream of what we get to see.. ie total carve up
  13. Get it back and checked over, its really the only way you can make a firm decision and move forward; additionally this approach and the sound advice offered by others here is really the only professional way to respond. Its one you will be able to rely on if it gets awkward.. the Honda S2000 is a good example.. so follow this lead I would say.. good luck with the investigation, there will be more advice here if you update on progress made.
  14. Wow, this shower is offline for three days and the country needs to stop doing what it is doing! No staff taking calls either.. You just have to wonder what cock up will commence once the "upgrade" is in place! Essential maintenance does not suggest a improvements for users, be helpful to know what their aims are..
  15. Paddy, if you get something to replace it from the breakers, flog the tut coming out in ebay; some weird types on there who maybe after the parts you have to sell.... you never know, could be worth twenty/thirty quid to someone.. every little helps - now get it bought.

  17. Used this outfit for some XC60 bits a short time ago, most helpful... they are selling a replacement for £140 + vat, any good? https://www.volvobreakers.co.uk/volvo-interior-parts/volvo-cd-player-radio/?page_number=2 Maybe call and get some advice, they pointed me in the right direction after a chat. Not sure how an non OEM would fit in the dash panel or suit "Volvo" owners... just my opinion, there are also some wiring interfaces made to get the steering controls working on more modern / upgraded units.. all down to cost and would invest in it unless youre smoking it for a good while..
  18. I think so! Once the tin is opened I think it mixes the 2pack and off you go. Others may know more though.
  19. That’s correct, however it did have a state of the art HRW to keep your hands warm..
  20. Any tips on a small orbital sander - hand held and not air powder, looking at the 3m perfect it and G3 products to fill the repairs cupboard.. thnx
  21. Nicely presented if I may say, the corner in the workshop also does it justice... wouldnt fret about this becoming a member of the family, there will be some AMG fancier out there in need of the cup holder for sure.. or is it to assist in holding a roll of reddies/removing a suspender belt etc? Well we have strayed back to 90's in this thread almost the 80's...
  22. That it is, and also learning a few new tricks... certainly enjoyed this thread as I suspect many lurkers have too! Poet's day...
