Quite a few Co-ops now have the local Post Office in store; so there is a saving on advertising there for you!! Quite right Ben, I do rather suspect most reading / contributing to this thread are learning (expanding their own knowledge as they go... me included.. so do keep them coming.. as it has been stated; no one answer suits all.. but with the answers come points most independents will and can learn from.. Very informative so thanks all for taking time to give these threads your input! -
Blue shorts and blue suede loafers out in force on Tuesday at BCA.. and he was teaching his son by the looks of things.. utterly amazing to watch.. then he stood in the oil patch.. You couldn't/wouldn't make it up.... it writes itself down there most days!

Must say my dealings have not been too bad; however, it does now sound like another shower using automatically generated letters ( and from a government dept) convinced the only way is Artificial Intelligence, oh the bloody irony...

Tossers are there in every business, of that I am pretty sure..... As you said, on quiet days they just seem more obvious.. mobile technology seems to help them surface a lot faster in this day and age.. especially retail with Joe public.. -
In a nut shell, no wiser words to move your business forward and sleep at night.

I call that moving forward with your plan to self administer... onward, NEXT ! (well done) I'm pretty sure if WW knew their process was being reviewed here on a trader forum they would drop a brick, rough surface, and sideways.... after all it is traders who really will sell their product and make them the most! Follows on nicely to your reviews comment Mark.. having read all this about WW, how will motor traders do it in future I wonder..?

Sums it up nicely, life on their mobile "device".. However, generations are/have grown up with them/live on them, and a lot of parents are copying their kids to keep up!... so if it aint in/on the mobile/APP/ipad.. it may as well not exist.. I heard somewhere Debenhams (or another skint high street outlet) was going to start stocking new Fords (similar) in the foyer... with a pointy shoe type flogging finance so they can buy their avocados, chicken fillet bras, cat litter and face lift cream and then drive home in a new motor.... and thats just the blokes, the ones with shaped eyebrows and dyed hair.. My how the world is changing.. Still, a sump plug is still a sump plug.. If you click on the bidders on a car on ebay, there is a section that shows that buyers "activity" with the seller of the item you are looking at. It used to be a lot more in depth, but changed in the past year or so and now only shows high level info; however you can still see if that the person bidding is a regular bidder with the seller; I'd hazard a guess ebay have computers now monitor this pattern of behavior.. whether they take action is another matter, after all they want their auctions fees and there in is the rub on this whole venue for selling....if you get shafted as a seller and need to readvertise, they still get fees..so I'd have to guess "ebay motors + gumtree which they also own" is making a good margin just like ATrader.... The web is the place to be! is it not? -
Oh please do tell us more, not pointed shoes and heels by any chance.. I think there is an Irish jig, (past top twenty) when they dance around a timing belt..

Buying a house - Title Deeds say no trading from home etc.
Area 51 replied to jan808's topic in General Dealer Chat
Apprecicate youre seeing it from both sides of the coin here, however the post was about the problems faced by this new purchaser of the property in question and how it will affect is trading with vehicles... needless to say, and based on your additional input; it will be MUST HAVE on any potential for property purchases any "home trader/worker" may become involved in... I can see it potentially being used to restrict a lot of new "work from home types" who do not operate or own a white van delivery businesses or drain oil from HGV's etc.. however with it being written in such a way as you state, it could / will prevent people working from home with just an internet connection and PC.. Caveat emptor Having recently sold a four properties, and having read the deeds in some length, none contained such a restriction; I am pleased to say for their new owners.. With the media keen to highlight "working from home is now becoming the new norm" this problem flagged by the OP should be flagged in a wider audience... Never mind warranty companies wishing to cover themselves... At this rate, self employed wont be able to buy home to "work from".. no one is going to rent on the commercial terms unless absolutely necessary.. Think you would have to say YES tradex.. British properties are some of the smallest in Europe, many with insufficient parking given most households start by having two cars before the kids get vehicles.. any that rent seperate rooms out can be a nightmare as each renter may have a vehicle ! -

This needs looking into by your legal people; could be these smart arse lease holders have found another way to generate income by banning you from home working and thus forcing a conversation/buy out of the covenant = especially with some many people choosing to "work from home" be that self employed or for their employer... Neighbours in future maybe unhappy if they find you have bought out the restriction (if you can) and then do trade from home.. Unless you have a unit away from the new address and just complete/store paperwork at home.. not sure they can do much about this..?? Wait until the government catch on to how many do run some form of business from home! Be a light bulb moment there for some rising star.. "tax 'em"... can hear it now.. Greetings on a Monday morning, may it be a busy week with limited tire kickers and all inbound lower than CAP below! -
Friday usually attracts a lot of local non traders with a day off, it being their sabbath etc.. ten of them chasing one audi in hoping it will go for £335 inc fees.. Tuesday is more a traders day; however isnt worth going unless there is something youre interested in (either day).... but they do hold sales most days of the week there now, so many vehicles the place is over run with them... Isnt Brighouse as close to Preston as Belle Vue? = worth a look/better breakfast? PS - Always seems hard work at BCA, but the deals can be found ...

I understand the ebay system is driven by algorithms; not my strongest forte.. it is ebay that use these to present buyers looking for items (any) with a best match.. as over 60% of ebay searches are on mobile devices, the options to select a decent search criteria are well hidden or removed.. if you are using ebay on a desktop as probably most traders are here; sat a desk etc in office, they you see all the options (search by closest/colour/miles).. however I believe this is reduced on phones/tablets therefore its down to ebay (the algorithm) if your auction gets viewed.. I have read elsewhere that ebay "drives" the cheapest gets priority across their site... Never for one moment think these muppets have it tuned separately for ebay motors; to them a commission is a commission, therefore it is all about what generates this fastest

Possibly work! There are always some out there who wish to pay what they feel "something" is worth, they are the opposite of the cheeky beggars who want to chip everything down in price.. sometimes too cheap = its got a problem in buyers eyes and they pass it over. Autotrader and ebay perpetuate the "race to the bottom" pricing strategy.. however if your Beemer is straight as you say and you like it (know them/being in trade etc) then give it a go at a better price.. should attract a nicer/smarter punter.. the race to the bottom/cheap as possible scenario can/may only attract buyers who want £10k vehicle for £1k etc.. and will scream at you when the screen washers dont work because they are full of falling tree sap!.. Keep us updated, as I do feel youre on the right track.. no one here (I guess) wants to sell cheap all the time as AT and ebay would have us do... "suggested selling price"... ?? What is it Jim Royal used to say???

I would agree here, when it comes time for renewal of the taxi plate, will the not be more sensitive over the use of a damaged vehicle for the carriage of the public etc?
-
Dont forget ebay keeps dishing out FREE listing promotions to private sellers or even sell for max of £1 on final fees.. I got rid of some stuff over the last bank holiday (taking up space in the garage) as I got a sell for only £1... So maybe is people with private accounts flogging motors for these promotional fees; just a thought..

Wonder if they will still add the entry, unable to inspect part of engine due protective panel/under car protection... the above would be humorous if it wasnt such an important aspect of any vehicles history... and then due to GDPR all previous owners are to be hidden too along with past service invoices that contain their details.... Makes you wonder how trading standards will be able to investigate anything.. .

Fantastic work, thanks for sharing.. makes giving a auction purchase a mop and polish feel a bit underachievement.. Keep the pictures coming, loving seeing the work and styles.. If I could, I'd probably have one!

All of the above and stock to come with FSH/invoices/three keys and written undertaking of the AH to take it back if not happy with it after 90days, sorry 180 days..

Very frustrating!! Could it have anything to do with IT issues reported over recent weeks? I had a query with Santander last week and I am still waiting to hear back, when I called to speak to the original point of contact I had spoke with, I was told my file showed the person in question had marked it that they had called me back! Very frustrating as they had not, and why would I be calling them again? The call centre goon couldnt answer this from their scripted message.. eight days on and I am still waiting. I'm unsure if youre on twitter/other social media.. but if so; I would go on there and shame them into a response.. from comments in the newspapers, it seems to be the only way larger companies will now respond as its on display for all to see.... life today all appears to be zero to 100% offended and name/shame in the blink of an eye.. As you rightly say, a dealer couldn't get away with this.

Howdy, any on the South Cheshire/Staffordshire borders at all? Thnx in advance

Dare I say some how to videos or before and after shots are needed here? I'd be interested, always fancied a compressor and spray gun, go loads of other bits I could use a compressor for !!

Does this show previous owner details? I havent seen them, noticed details of garage conducting tests have disappeared.. They will hide lots behind GDPR (read - get rid of a few jobs) .. just like getting rid of the mobile and street rozzers.. as they now have CCTV on every lampost and grid.. Remove pin, and lob... sit back and wait; cue blame game in the house of commoners..

Dont tell Amazon there is an opportunity untapped here with a delivery driver owning a WAV... it will give them all sorts of ideas... of should that just be a new thread altogether..? Nice to here you are giving a go, report back with good news and a round of drinks for the encouragement received here!
