  1. I think we all know the answer..... Also ‘works in consumer protection’. Certainly not doing their bit for business protection.
  2. I wouldn’t have a friggin’ clue but I’d imagine with 99% of the punters on an old ‘price range’ 911 you wouldn’t want to spend a night out in the pub with them. Also I’d guess half of them wouldn’t be able to raise enough money for a round of drinks.
  3. It depends on the quality of stock you’re purchasing. Most of the cars I buy at the block are £1000-3500 & there’s no fucking way whatsoever I buy online! The auction house assessments are generally pisspoor as they do not cover enough checks. Also half of the assessors wouldn’t know a peach from a lemon.
  4. 6 years & 1 month! I think a new record has been set for resurrecting dead threads.
  5. There’s nowt wrong with an iPhone camera. It’s how & what you point it at & in the correct light, that’s important. Photos don’t need to be to David Bailey standards, just not pisspoor.
  6. You’ve got it advertised as 2wd...... ......and delete all of this shit; The car has recently had the passenger side airbag recall done. THE CAR IS READY TO GO WITH NO ISSUES £4,500 ono Test drives welcome. NO TYRE KICKERS AND TIMEWASTERS If the ad is up, it’s still for sale!
  7. We all get sticky cars. Tbh if anything it looks too cheap. Your photos aren’t the best. CRVs went off the boil a year ago for me.
  8. +1. I cannot believe anyone can operate a car sourcing business with random members of the public that do not commit financially beforehand.
  9. I’m normally unsympathetic to greedy people being ripped off but this is a terrible tale, they must of been terrified. The thugs certainly don’t mess about in Manchester! I understand the victim’s family’s concern over the loss of money however I will not be contributing to the GoFundMe page that they’ve set-up to re-coup the money stolen. Although they’ve been treated appalling I feel there are far more deserving cases of charity than a couple of greedy people who were more than happy to pay (I’m tempted to say legally rob) someone 50% of the true value of the goods (in this case the car). Appalling as this all is, I wish them well & hope they fully recover but these two aren’t charity cases in my book.
  10. TV I know the answer you’re looking for is “No fucker” but I always thought the Maestro was a better car than the pitiful Escort/Orion. I’m saying that purely from a driving proposition - I had nowt to do with car selling in those days. Tbh I thought they drove better than VW’s miserable Golf too. I honestly think they weren’t bad cars, although the stepper motor choke system was shit (remember that?) & usually wanted to set an idle speed of about 2000rpm. I also remember having a blast to a pub in a neighbour’s MG Montego - 2 full litres of fuel injected Leyland power. I’d been reduced to Renault motoring at the time in the shape of a 5 1.1 - what a heap of shit. Honestly, the Montego felt like a Ferrari, it went like shit off a shovel! Or so I thought!!!
  11. Hahaha, I think that’s called schizophrenia.
  12. Absolutely correct. I think I’m cheapish but there are lads buying cars & proud to be working for £4-500 a bonnet. Tbh there are some on the bangers who work on £2-300 a bonnet, some are even paying out for cheap storage units & Autotrader! How on earth they pay the bills, pay a decent wage & sell safe cars is beyond me, although I suspect the last one doesn’t concern them too much.
  13. I used to do plenty of CRVs (not autos due to cost) but how many people go out shopping with about £10K & want to be in a 10yr old Honda? For the record I don’t disagree with what you say, it’s just that it must be a narrow market. I know they cost a fortune as I found out 6mths ago. I’d sold the Mrs’ old one & after 4 weeks of looking a nice auto CRV came up at the block. I paid a ridiculous £7500 for a low mileage 60-plate. But as I say, it must be a narrow market cos a decent manual would be a fraction of the price.
  14. I didn’t think it took verbal instructions, I thought it just talked to you when you had a problem. Given the quality of Austin Rover’s products I guess the computer’s voice became hoarse rather quickly.
  15. I thought that before I even opened up this topic.
  16. That was it! And what about those shite exhaust bandages? As though a bandage wrapped around would satisfactorily seal against an exhaust box . I remember as a young lad in my first car, a Chevette, I naively decided to try some mastic on the exhaust. Well, it looked the same colour! Three miles up the road smoke belching from the underside then it got inside the cabin & nearly choked us. Mind you, the trade wasn't much better. My second car was a Maestro (an auto, it sounded half-interesting to me) from a garage, they bodged-up the exhaust which promptly fell out. Anyway to cut a long story short after the third visit for a ‘repair’ I’d had enough, replaced the back box myself and phoned to tell them I was coming to which the spineless bastards had locked themselves up! I flung the back box at their window but this pathetic item barely kissed the glass & fell to the floor. That was my career as a thug, a young man last seen driving away in a green automatic Maestro, over.
  17. If it was introduced the vendors wouldn’t have a choice. Sytner do just that & let’s be honest, some of the prices on there, even from those with poor ratings, can be eye watering. The response to any form of ratings are VASTLY overrated - if people think the price is right they’ll buy.
  18. Tbh you can’t reason with this mentality. This is just someone else who wants telling to fuck off
  19. A bullshitter. Tell the man to fuck off, you’ll see him in court. PS. He has had the car MOTed. ABS is part of the MOT. This proves the part he’s claiming for wasn’t faulty prior to XX date therefore absolving you of any responsibility even if you had sold it as a retail sale.
  20. Not that mine were in the £8-10K range but for me they died over a year ago. ’All the dough, slow to go’ springs to mind with CRVs. They’ve been overpriced at the block for too long now but I think there is some general price correction on these due, although not soon enough imo.
  21. I know them small car punters are greedy but trying to come back for a partial credit? The general public are getting worse.
  22. Crikes! They’ve never been good sellers anyway, have they? And boy, they look ancient nowadays.
  23. Anyone fancy a bit of grinding with adomanim?
