  1. So has Primark. Tbh these large companies are ruthless and whether or not they can afford to pay, they won’t. They won’t give a fuck about their landlords’ finances.
  2. Absolutely. It won’t just be the pot that’s raided, this is not free money. The govt are doing the right thing trying to prop up UK plc BUT there is no such thing as free money.
  3. Anyone got any plans on driving a UK trade car through Holland in the coming weeks?
  4. Unfortunately the newly found money tree will struggle to bear fruit so quickly. I think Trade Vet’s post in another topic about having to struggle on until June at the earliest will be about spot on. I sincerely hope that the one good that eventually comes out of this is people realise how fragile their finances are, think of a little forward planning & try to live within their means. Fat chance obviously, but it would be nice.
  5. Absolutely BUT it’s a damn sight better than businesses closed, most of the country unemployed and house prices collapsed because 25% of them have been snatched back. I hardly think the alternative would be viewed as fair by those living outside of the London area. Cloth, cut & suit spring to mind.
  6. The government are currently keen on promoting deliveries of any sort so I guess cars aren’t a problem from that point of view. However obviously the DSRs come into force & I’d hate to see cars being bounced back which, I these times, must be much more of a risk. At the moment I suspect there’s only a handful of people in this country genuinely wanting to buy a car this week, although if this semi-lockdown carries on for months that will change. Normality will return. I watched the CDM webcast with Lawgistics yesterday & as a purveyor at the cheaper end of the market I assume (with an eye on things improving sometime) if a customer purchases and sends a transporter to collect on their behalf then it is NOT a distance purchase as THEY have collected/arranged collection of it.
  7. +1. Also, I’d rip up the resignation letter.
  8. I had a bit of sport with a couple of these characters last night just to prove to myself they never buy. I said yes to two ridiculous offers then both came back wanting more off (it’s a game to them). At that point I politely emailed back advising them in the future to think first & not embarrass themselves (fat chance of that!). I’m simply resorting to my usual position of ‘zero response’. In the last hour I’ve had emails from 3 separate people I’ve chosen to ignore. We are all going to get plenty of the Nearly Men sat at their computers, penis in hand, kidding themselves they are big buyers, when in reality they have to put the week’s shopping on a credit card. Don’t be tempted to entertain these folk, don’t let these cnuts grind you down & remember: MESSERS MAIL, CUSTOMERS CALL. Chin up folks!
  9. Can’t you just wipe your arse on the X5 instead?
  10. Oh I see. If memory serves in the olden days a laid off member of staff was still on the books but received no payment - I think (could be wrong) it gave them the option of claiming from the DSS.
  11. Purely semantics but what’s the difference between furloughing staff & laying off staff? Furloughing sounds the same to me, perhaps I’m missing something or is laying off something from the past?
  12. MOTs are still fine (at the moment) however; (From what I’ve heard today maiin dealers’ parts depts. are only supplying their own workshops and the motor factors are expecting to be told they are NOT a vital part in the supply chain).
  13. I’d like to think you’re right for the overall good of the public but there are so many businesses reliant on selling on ‘tick’ I doubt it - where would the German car industry be in this country without it? Everyone would be living within their means if it was up to me.
  14. I think you mean the Bit Of Flash For Not Much Cash market. I wouldn’t know about newer stock but I can certainly see that on older stock. I wonder if the big petrol market will have a resurgence. Not everyone is a greedy bastard interested in eeking out every last MPG and wanting £30 road tax. They don’t do too many miles, realise £5K buys a nice £50K car (new price) & have a few grand burning a hole in their pocket. At this end many of them will also have had a belly full of oil burners with their various problems & will welcome a petrol with open arms. It’s just a shame most executive metal over the last decade has had Rudolf Diesel’s creation under the bonnet.
  15. Let’s be honest, cars have been getting knocked out on various finance schemes for very little money for quite a while now so, as you say, I don’t imagine there’s much scope for much flexibility on a reducing asset. Out of all the reasons to bring some sanity back into car ownership I never thought it would be a virus that could bring the world’s finances to a halt. How quick our business lives have been changed in the last week would of been unthinkable.
  16. I assume there are going to be a few cheap nearly new cars soon & the new car market is going to take a battering. This will have long term repercussions.
  17. Haha, I might try that sometime. 100% correct
  18. Very true however it is only a very very small minority of scumbags. Tbh they probably wouldn’t buy anyway - I learnt years ago the likes of these shitheads don’t follow up after their talk.
  19. Sorry, more misinformation. As long as you’ve verified your account for money laundering regulations (which anyone would have to do before opening a high street account) then this doesn’t apply. Sorry but there’s an awful lot of bollocks talked about PayPal which I think stems from it originally being opened by eBay as a payment ‘device’ in the early days. PAYPAL IS A BANK. Simple.
  20. TV, you’re of the old fashioned view that phones & fags are a luxury! Believe it or not, I’m afraid many in society think these are basic necessities, along with satellite television. Obviously more important than food!! Madness.
  21. Hahaha, I’d be sorely tempted to waste their time, that’s assuming I’d not told him something along the lines of ‘I’d rather set fire to it than sell to a horrible greedy bastard like you’ which I’ve done in the past & believe me, they don’t know what to say. I had a gentleman from Bradford messing about on FB asking his usual questions which then inevitably let to a ridiculous offer - £1700 for a £2695 vehicle. My rather unprofessional response was simply “Fuck Off”. Why drag out the agony any further than necessary?
  22. Sorry, you are mistaking my comments about PayPal with the PayPal C.C. That’s like comparing money from a Barclays a/c to a Barclaycard payment.
  23. If they’ve held funds it’s been for security checks & I’m sure, assuming you’re sensible, you won’t of released the car without cleared funds so no issue. Also quite how a scammer has you over if they’re there buying in front of you & you have cleared funds before releasing the car is beyond me.
