FIND & FUND by Moto Novo was the next big thing to take on Auto Trader I did quite well when they were spending MILLIONS on advert money , when advert money slowed down I did NOTHING for a long time and now its gone free because they cant charge for something that's not working as intended . Lucas they spent MILLIONS of ££££££££££££ getting the site going , Your not the first to think you can take Autotrader on and you wont be the last either . They are MKT Leaders because they have served their time for many years and are a WELL Known NAME . Result is they sell more cars than most of the other sites put together . Car Gurus said to me before Christmas you can trial us free till Jan 8 WEEKS and not one call or email , just as i forecast to them . Autotrader has sold 21 of my cars before Christmas , 7 between Christmas and new year and 4 this week , all phoned on call tracker " this is a call from autotrader " Yes they know how to charge , but my business is built on burn rate , take the sale and reinvest , I want each car to turn at least 11 times a year , earn top dollar and move on . I also need to do this with min costs so i don't advertise ANYWHERE else that charges , except Autotrader . I'm not a fan of the cost , of course I'm not , but reducing costs to increase earnings is not my way , Profit is the way forward in my head , burn rate of sales , constant attention to stock turn , but how to do it without losing max profits too . So you know what would put me off your plan , " the word FREE " really insults a workhorse does that , How about the thought of taking Autotrader on by telling me it will sell TWICE as many cars but cost you a £1,000 a month MORE , then we are really cooking on gas aren't we because i'm earning hundreds of thousands £££££££ more for a measly 12 k extra Instead of FREE and i don't sell as many or any cars because there is no investment to spread the news You want to reinvent the wheel I wish you luck , BUT I'm OUT cos while your thinking about the wheel your not selling cars . So who's better off 12 months from now SELL your cars first Lucas , walk before you try to jog Happy and a very prosperous new year to you , " hopefully

Agree with you there Met Had a guy ring us in panic , been told you guys repair cars . Er yes whats your problem ? Cars chucked oil all over my drive . Get it down here then . He tows car down to see us . Last time it was serviced was 4 yrs ago , 3.0 litre V6 petrol S type Jag 128,000 miles . The oil filter was hanging on by a crumb of rust and that was the leak . It also had tape round it to attempt a repair The guy asked us if he could get his own oil from Asda , I told him to collect his car and take it to ASDA for the filter too 4yrs and 40,000 miles on same oil , never heard it running but it must of sounded terrible Charged him £50 + vat diagnosis too

Me personally I cant imagine being off autotrader , Car guru doesn't work for me , Ebay is expensive if its run along side AT and I don't sell enough to warrant thinking about it , I personally don't think i should pay two platforms to advertise the same car BUT it does depend on what you choose to sell , My stuff doesn't sell on Ebay , Motors or CGuru , People know where to find what they are looking for in my opinion and that's where your stock needs to be for sale . All work at different levels . 10 yr old Corsa , EBAY NO Brainer , Three yr old Jaguar XF 3.0 litre Portfolio and its AT NO Brainer , Two extremes I know buts that's my thought on why it works for some and not others . Your job is to find YOUR customers , not them find you . Dangle the bait and the fish will strike if not you need another river or a lake .

The main reason an owner of a car sells it now days by 98% is there is something that needs doing to it , New Brakes , Cam Belt , Turbo Whine , Shocks , Tyres , EGR , and the list goes on . So in my thinking any car price range will need something doing It wont matter what price range your in its going to be a similar story as regards expense of prep mechanically , the only benefit is the more expensive a car the cost seems to be more justified as the parts are the same cost as a £1,999 banger and profits should be higher , Look around on the roads and see what customers are driving , look at the affluence in your area and where you might pull customers from . If they are all on 50cc mopeds or maybe Audi A6's , you might have the answer. All the best and a happy new year

How long does FCA registration take ??
David Horgan replied to Blenheim Car Sales's topic in General Dealer Chat
Don't think that's the accepted bit , its now in the hands of your FCA adviser who will complete , not far away at this point . You will receive a FIRM Number when they send acceptance -
How long does FCA registration take ??
David Horgan replied to Blenheim Car Sales's topic in General Dealer Chat
4 weeks to 12 weeks seems to be the norm that I've heard of . 6 Months is the worst case , depends if they have all the info correct on the application . Watch out for a rouge call too asking about Finance , that's the way they check sometimes , good plan is to completely deny ALL finance enquiries till you get your number . I had a call and 20 mins later the number came via email , they were testing my integrity -
Its all I'd get for it , I never get CAP in auction for the PX Junk that looks like that thing If that was mine I'd let a guy we know ebay for us , He talks to the billies like dog muck on a shoe , they seem to love being spoke to like dirt on a shoe , Don't use auctions very often for the PX stuff nowdays . But I cant stand Ebay talk , certainly wouldn't talk to customers like he does .
-
Obviously it's working for them. I really wonder if it is working , new name coming soon £495 max bid at a local auction What a pile of shite that is
-
Great idea but 24/7 will try like mad to get the billy to sign up first before they tell them where your place is ,. Its about time 24/7 appreciated the customers they drag from us and stopped charging us for the privilege . If 24/7 Started selling cars it would be a disaster move on their behalf in my mind .
-
That's Correct Customer finds your car on 24/7 web site they will charge you £180 + vat Customer finds car on your web site they cant charge you commission . Try passing the cost onto your customer and its illegal unless you advertise all cars with the same admin .
-
24/7 are robbing leaches The charge now is £180 = VAT too . Robbers Ask the customer how they found your Car , if its your advert then they 24/7 cant charge you . Tell them there's not enough in the deal and they will reduce the charge . Best still tell them to F##ck off

We Have All Wanted To Do It At Some Point ... !
David Horgan replied to Tadams's topic in General Dealer Chat
Heard of similar to this that actually did happen . Trader friend gets call with daft bid from 200 miles away 5k off asking His answer was that's a bit steep , But ok Then and would you like new tyres too . Yes choose the brand and I'll fit them Pirelli Ok , its only got one key would you like another too Yes Ok ,now do you want me to lick the wheels clean for you while i'm changing the tyres Yes See you at 2pm tomorrow then my friend 2 pm comes and the dopey sod turns up to buy the car Trader friend says , sorry mate its sold Its over there dopey customer says , I know he says the wife bought it at that price though before you got here , Cheerio Prospective Customer went Nuts . Didn't make the mail though -
Doesn't look like its the sensor then does it . If you replaced it and it doesn't work it might be the wiring that's worn under the seat . If you have fitted an Ebay part that may also be a problem , Mercs like Merc parts in my experience with the bloody things , I hate Mercs with a passion mind

mini cooper etc etc stay well away.
David Horgan replied to Grantlfc81's topic in General Dealer Chat
They are great cars as long as you put new Cam Chain and guides , piston rings , Decoke the head and manifold , new turbo oil feed pipe , have the turbo rebuilt and put new plugs in . Then they don't come back and go like shite off a shovel Yep they are hopeless bloody things as you say The petrols are french too Bloody Pug engines . BMW cant make 4 cylinder engines so they bought crap ones instead for the Minis -
That's just terrible David . I really hope you get the money back , Not a small amount to lose for sure . Maybe we should take note and ring for bank information from now on , as you say , You didn't see it coming . Some F###ing Bas#ards out there . I hate thieves with a Vengeance

Accident values and BCA site luck
David Horgan replied to ExCouncilJobsworth's topic in General Dealer Chat
Will be in your policy somewhere for a guess where it explains its trade , depends too what valuation system they use , Some Glasses Some CAP so it can be wild either side of good or bad really . My wife was involved in RTA , not her fault and we Got Retail money for that , but a friend of mone had a no fault RTA last week and got Glasses Trade plus £700 after the ensuing argument on the phone . Haven't heard of loss of retail income claim , so cant say on that . Did you get the MILF's name No don't go there -
Accident values and BCA site luck
David Horgan replied to ExCouncilJobsworth's topic in General Dealer Chat
Written off by a MILF Did she write it off while doing the ?????? deed How in gods name can buying a car from different auctions sell differently ? Must be different cars surely You bought a write off from BCA was it declared as such , if not you can chuck it back as that's what the indemnity charge is for . Insurance write offs on most trade policies are trade money back if accident damaged to write off , But I have had retail for one my wife was driving in a No fault accident situation too . Sorry just imagining a MILF crashing a car while er doing the errrrr mmmmmm you know I spilt my tea now LOL -
How Much To Fill A Discovery Tank (bet I win)
David Horgan replied to Mark101's topic in General Dealer Chat
Wife filled her A3 with petrol , Called us because it stopped , so we recovered it back to our place . She goes to my son " do we need a specialist to come out LOL " We all looked at her eyes wide till she realised what she had said Never lived that down she hasn't -
Well said , after my own heart i seem to get a call on Boxing day most years , Nip out , down garage for what seems a done sale and back before they know iv'e been gone . Always had you down as more modern than this Nik Anyway all the very best to you and your family Nik , and everyone else on here too Happy Christmas , Happy and very prosperous New Year too .
-
£316 On Platinum Nick for £13500 Good discount isn't for over 100 cars a rolling year saves me shoe wear though at most places with parking on site and half price food Less assured report savings of £8 i think and online fees at £44 so its better than some . Means to an end though isn't it if you want specific stock types , Auctions are for the Brave now its no longer a place to send the untrained buyer . Lots to be earned for the brave , trained dedicated knowledgeable buyer , but lots to be lost if the auction understanding isn't in the buyers way of thinking , Seen some buyers make huge mistakes , it makes your eyes water at times ,
-
They dont charge for days they are closed pal
-
Stand at the auction door and wait CAP catalogue in hand and be ready to wag at the cheapest car that day . Result is, you will lose LESS money cos its the cheapest Cant understand the heat of auction, stay away from auction ,and buy elsewhere is the answer . One thing for sure , you wont find out here I don't think
