  1. That old cons not much use nowadays , public are wise to it being a con . lots of good stuff out there but that's for detailing specialists not dealers making money
  2. Fast way to chuck money away I reckon . try it an see is one way . Puts your car up on top yes , but customers don't fall for that do they , if they want eg a BLUE VW Polo with 30k on the clock they will bypass your eg RED one at 46 k wont they no matter where its on Auto Trader

There are people about who do repairs , we've got one guy who stitches leather seams puts panels in and they match bang on even fetches the seat away and brings it back , about £70 /£100 depending . match that against a new seat , but only if you can find a repair guy though , swings n roundabouts really isnt it
  4. we had a car in for a service a while back , Audi A6 , been to same Audi main dealer for 60, 000 miles . New owner brings it to us , took oil filter off and there was only tatters of the filament left , Never been changed we reckoned , Air filter same Clogged to death it was , Fuel filter never been touched . Main dealers with apprentices are my big nightmare for service history records . Joe public asks me about Main dealer services and I do have to have a slight smile .

  6. Risky game is that one Johny You have to make it very clear that a few things are at their risk , Insurance while in your care can be an issue as its not your stock is it . Warranty is also an issue as the previous owner will deny any fault existed profit margins can be contentious too as the owner wont understand the profit you need to even really think about selling it , "you sold my car for 8k why have i only got 6/7k for it " My advice is DONT do it , Sounds good but when the shite hits the fan its going down big time , all on your shoulders too Regards the accounting , its simple , you sold it on commission + VAT , return was x , profit Y plus the VAT charged to the owner

Customers don't give a hoot mate don't worry I have sold two this week with Massive HIGH prices on , one was wait for it £2,890 OVER Priced the other thing is their system don't take into account , rarity , Polish jobs , Cam Belts Full service history ,Colour , New tyres , and if you bring it up with them as i do regular they just say its all part of the customer journey and a discussion point .
  8. Online is a new way of buying ,always bought a few online before but not all of them , be here a while I'm thinking so better get used to it . Bought nine today , my biggest problem is getting them here fast enough though delivery is so slow . Takes two weeks sometimes which caused a massive delay when it first started , so found we had to buy 10 extra and let it feed in so we had a constant supply arriving , if ever they deliver all together I'm stuffed for space LOL Transport prices have gone up too this week so that's upset me I do miss the cheapie bits we used to buy at physical auctions though for a bit of fun , See a Corsa etc and bid for a laugh to see what we could make out of it , was a guy at Notts who will be pleased to see us gone mind , he used to go nuts when he saw me looking at something he wanted as I nicked it on last bid , cant do that online . Different world now , fun and atmosphere has gone out of buying , but we've took to buying different stock and moved onwards .

  13. That part made take a sharp breathe Martin Work for your self and you only work half a day Just choose which 12 hour shift you are going to do . Think I'm joking ? you will see Good luck and all the best with it . Selling from Commercial premises brings an entirely different set of people Martin , but remember you only need One customer per car , Have fun and the rest will develop as you see fit
  14. Just remember Finance will not sell itself , its not the magic tree to expensive cars , A lot of work and expense plus a world of knowledge is required to work the finance money tree . Just getting the rates to sell out will be your biggest problem , low rates come to those who sell more cars , to sell more cars and prove finance sales you need the low rates in the first place round a bouts plus dizzy pills to work that out catch 22 all the way . taken me a while eg years lol to sort it out , but when you get there and learn to sell it it can be a great source of income and fast sales , just a slow job sorting it out and moving finance firms . Tip get your self a broker first .
  15. EML wont be the DSG Notice , Might stand a chance with the EML , see what the RAC man says when he comes to see it . They have strict money levels now to work too , have to phone a friend if its more money . We have had a claim for a battery , £150 limit since the RAC took over . Only because i caused a stir that we got the battery price paid for , well RAC man actually put a new one on . Good luck

It will come to you , dont panic , just have to imagine every day is a school day I've been selling for best part or 50 yrs Salt and its always fun in my head , Customers change but their questions and expectations don't , Just learn to tell the truth and be firm , Don't let them rip your heart out , because they will have a go , no morals in the buying public , most rude set of people on earth , but you will learn the retorts that shoot them down , I do actually get off on dealing with the public though , one big competition and I don't lose Stick at it you will be fine

  23. Yes salt the system of the green slip works twice for sure and more too . . Only thing is , you wont get any tax back if the cars in trade . Let two payments go out if you pay DD as they will switch your account off if you abuse it .
