Jesus, I need to go on a sales course. Why am I being schooled as if I've never sold a car before? WHY have I never thought of what you've just said??

It just the way it works unfortunately, I bet light fittings are the best bidders in some auction halls I bet they have a button under the counter for online bids these days, that takes away the art of reading the auctioneer & room

Currently shorts, t-shirt and trainers, no one ever seems bothered. Explain to people that I cant valet cars in a suit! At the moment, the shorts have 3 dollops of superglue staining on the crotch, looks a bit suspicious but gives them something to go away talking about. Perhaps they think Im incontinent and buy the car because they take pity on me. Funnily, no one has asked! Winter time, jeans with an M&S white polo and navy sweatshirt! Never bothered with branding personally.

Its not illegal to trot to reserve price , Auctioneers are aware of that , BCA have a routine of putting a car through 3 times and if it doesn't make its money it usually sells or goes elsewhere if the bids are to low . But we all know it happens , usually its a piece of junk they cant get bids on though as anything decent will sell anyway . Seen it happen many times , when we have put cars in the block they bounce bids off me , of course then i agree with it . Horses for courses isn't it Remember once we two bloody Yaris PX things back when a Yaris might sell , Both had serious issues and i only gave £50 for one and £75 for the other . Took them both to bits and made one good one sold it for £1,200 Put the scrapper back together and blocked it even let the oil out the gear box it was leaking that much took it on a trailer to BCA and booked it in . Nothing worked on that car and i mean nothing , Two privates start looking so I hugged it as I was there at the sale day . Auctioneer looks at me when it went in and starts bouncing bids off my head , I was next to the privates so starts wagging the catalogue , what should have been scrap money or £200 best went for £975 Bloody quid to mrs private , Think I finished up with £700 + for the biggest bag of shite you've ever seen ,Bet shes never been to an auction again Motto don't fall for shiny shite at auction

That my friend is an important comment , people do treat us as a storage unit sometimes . I have the same clause in our terms /conditions too . I had a guy a while ago who waited two weeks then emailed me to say he was leaving the car till the end of the following month for taxing purposes , Wont save anything was my reply as you will incur storage charges for the month that's equal to the tax fetched it next day

Those selling lumpy stock are not netting 3k on every car, those here who constantly brag are talking BS. It does happen occasionally but to expect it as the norm, not a chance on under 20k cars. I’d rather have five 4K cars with 1.5k - 2k in them and spread the risk. I had an XTrail last week in PX for £1000, in 24hours it was gone at £2700...... I luvs the bangers..... Bang on... easy money

Fuck me, take the money then worry about storage.

No, some punters are embarrassed by their current car and assume you won’t want their car. 50% of them are right (punters with an 05 Megane they value at £500) but 50% of the time there’s a few quid to be had - quite often a £100-200 p/x piece of shit can be bulled-up & MOTed for similar money & turned into a nice little £999er for the ‘lamppost warranty’ market. Plenty on here won’t get out of bed for less than a £3000 wage but I’d be more than happy to get a p/x snotter every day of the week. I’m sure the lads selling lumpy cars get some lovely p/xs as well.

Depends on what their reason is and how much they're willing to leave. I work on £200 a week as a rough guide.

I have been guilty in my early days of making a good living and not having a life! As you get older your priorities change, it is all about getting the balance you are happy with as it's not a dress rehersal.

For me personally the answer has always been NO! I can always do more and better. And I keep trying.
